    Good to know. Not what I expected from the title. I've been mounting my own tire's manually, since the mid-60's. When I've had some where the beads are squeezed close together I put coffee cans in them and sit them in the sun for a few hours; works on yard equipment, trailers, cars, trucks and tractor tires. No Cheetah, no ether; no flames.

    I just bought ten 16x6.5x 6 tubes from tractor supply with free delivery for 80 bucks. All my tractors are 23x 10x 12 on the rear.
    I have had to use wooden ramps and drive a truck up them to break down fifty year old beads and that is the worst part of the job. I would be happy to take every wheel you remove to keep my stuff going and to make useful wheeled carts. That is if I lived close enough to collect them.
    But yeah, with labor rates and crushed tires, I see your point

    I have had success seating the beads by removing the valve core and hooking up a threaded connection to the stem directly to the air compressor hose. I use the air shutoff valve at the compressor connection to control the air flow. Get the compressor up to pressure, open the valve and slam the air in with no restriction or losses. Delivers a ton of air REALLY FAST! I have been doing this for a while and it has always worked.

    I bought those 15" tires for about $20 each. I ended up seating them but using the carburetor cleaner and fire trick and it worked just fine and nothing bad happened.

      @doublewide6  Před 3 lety

      That's good. I can do it too, but it is going to cost the customer more money in labor.

  • @patthesoundguy

    It's crazy how the whole tire and wheel assembly can cost that little. I find it is hit or miss putting tires on sometimes. One of two front tires can take less than 5 min for the breakdown and install the new tire and it seats instantly. Then the second one like you say wont seat worth a darn and it takes forever messing with straps to get it to seat the beads. Unfourtantly for me being in Canada It's dificult to find the whole assembly that inexpensive even from my parts suppliers wholesale. Sometimes you can find them at Princess Auto which is like Harbour Freight on a special buy but thats rare.

    Set the tire in the sun... it heats them up and makes them softer and they expand to what they should be so you can seat them. I had the same issue 'till I left them in the sun (by accident. now they all go in the sun. it works every time.)

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  Před 3 lety

      I made a video on this a compressed Carlisle rear tractor tire. I had to put tubes in because I didn't have a month to leave it in the sun because the customer needed his tractor. We ended up needing to put tubes in.
