    Nice to see someone achieving good results using techniques we can all try.
    There's alot of modelers on CZcams who take it to the xtreme which is good but we can't all spend the time and money to do that. Thank you.

      Exactly what I’m trying to do Paul, I’m just an average model maker sharing whatever tips I pick up. Thanks for the very kind remarks!

      Agreed. It's about having fun with a pastime. It's a plastic model at the end of the day.

    Couldn't agree more , this is a fine little kit with excellent fit. Try the P40 another little gem. Thanks for the build video.

      All the new molds from Airfix are really good. My favourite is the F4F-F

      I've got both in the stash...!

      @An Ordinary Bloke Doing Stuff I have started the build of the F4F-F on my channel and have a a video of a ready one as well. The P40 has just minor fitting problems on the cowlings

    I got this kit for my GF nephew (his 7, he loves visiting his aunt as he gets to watch me paint) as an intro to modelling. Great little kit for beginners or long term modellers.

    Great job in that new tool Spitfire! And Bravo! on the old school brush work painting. No air brush needed

    Cockpit alternative assembly is very good. But glueing wings before attaching to fuselage is a mistake, not all fit the fuselage.

    The Spitfire is always a star, I notice you don’t prime anymore, but the models look great. Really enjoyable. Thank you. Thinning the paints with Humbrol acrylic thinner is a good idea to try. I’m still a novice but learning all the time.

      @garys_stuff  Před 2 lety +2

      I don’t prime the starter sets as they don’t come with a primer and I’m trying to do them like someone who gets this at Xmas. Trust me, everything else gets primer!!!

      @novicejohnd5803 Před 2 lety +1

      Yes I see Christmas starter sets with just what’s in box, they still look awesome though, you are great.

    Hi! Great video, awesome build! Now i have to get to work on mine! Could you do a qwick video sometime about how you display your finished kits and what your shop looks like?

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Před 2 lety +1

      If by shop you mean my workshop - it is a very sorry affair! I drape some background paper over the top of my computer screen and work on my desk. A couple of lights and a camera and I'm in production! I have a set of shelves about 1.2m wide and 1.8m tall that houses my collection of aircraft from 800NAS in 1/72 (video will be produced soon), otherwise they get put in storage in the shed. Working on the Vulcan right now and no idea where that's going...

    Well, since no one's mentioned it, the landing gear are swapped left for right.

      OK, the gear doors might be, but the actual legs are the right way round!

    Hmmm, can you change the landing gear so it can be raised and under the wings (As in in flight not on the ground) or are they in a fixed postion?

      Can be up or down.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Před 2 měsíci

      @@Chessie-Steam-Special No, I think you build it one way or the other. Although it might be possible to swap the gear over once built, I've never tried! The main gear leg is just one piece without any bracing or actuators.

      Many of the kits sold through Lidl and Aldi were special boxes without flying hours.
