This happens in Cape Town generally when a warm current brings a specific type of algea into the bay thus type of algea acaully takes the oxygen out of the water so swarms of dead jelly fish fill up the bay so fast and usaully crustaceans such as Cray fish leave the water and walk onto the beach I cant remeber what they call it but all the crayfishing wait and catch a bunch when they come out the water
Ah hell nah

That jellyfish is utterly horrifying. Reason Number 947 not to go in the sea
Here in my country we ignore jellyfish and most people get stung once or twice per swim. Good thing they're too small to cause trouble
How can you be afraid of a wobbly blob of jelly that’s mostly made of water you scaredy cat

I got stung by a jellyfish when I was 9 and on holiday in Tunisia. It covered the whole right side of my neck down to my ankle. The pain was so searing that it completely paralysed my right side and my joints just locked up. I’m lucky I’m such a strong swimmer because I struggled to get back to shore, and I was screaming for my mam. All while she’s stood there telling me to stop being dramatic and it was probably only a stick that scratched me. She wasn’t saying that after going paragliding and saw the huge swarm of jellyfish and the red marks branding me 😂
Ps - Guys she’s not a bad mam I swear. 🥲 I was just a dramatic little sh*t when I was that age, so I cried wolf too many times so this one time she didn’t believe me because I had done it to much. I learned my lesson after this and stopped being dramatic, but she responded immediately after seeing I actually really was hurt. It was the last time she didn’t believe me and I wasn’t so dramatic after that event to prevent that from happening again 😂

from what I've seen, if they're on the shore they're dead.
@@thisfishiscoolashell sometimes they survive a for a while out of water
@@viktoriakucharikova6661 from what I know they're alive until they dry up, my father told me to never touch it even if it was at the shore "even if it's a lot further away from the water which means it didn't just come out of the water" these were his instructions for me once we learned that the beach we went to had lots of jellyfish.
You don't have to keep reading but... Yeah I went to the water that day and got stung in like five different places even tho I was wearing a swimming suit like the ones they wear for diving, I got out of the water holding my tears, told him I was stung, he was still in the water and told me it's ok I got stung too and it's just like a little mosquito bite you know it's just itchy and I said no I'm going back to the apartment. I got back, got into the shower to rinse off the salty water from my body and once I took off the swimming suit it was swollen already. I just didn't know how to deal with it so I rinsed off the salt, wore my clothes and decided to hold it, it's just a sting don't be a bit**. The next day it was still a little swollen but I was ok and I learned that it might've been a fatal sting if it was from a different type of jellyfish fish and that I'm lucky. LOL, Ik it's a long story but don't be as dumb as me!!
The same goes for bees. Do not play with a dead bee. I saw some kid poke it's abdomen and the stinger stung him.
That kid got the mark of Darwin
I remember getting stung as a kid lots of times, it was the weirdest feeling ever, it's not like normal stinging, like a bee or a wasp, it's different, it's like it's there and it's not there
I appreciate that he wasn't aggressive towards the jelly after it stung him, he actually took the time to put it down safely again before being like Yup, it stung me and ran. Never touch jellies
And apparently they put it back in the water later too since it might still be alive
Anyone that would show anger towards animals are subhuman, they doing nothing deliberate. But i agree its nice to see hes a normal person
Appreciate? Doesn't even care about the guy is the dead jellyfish
I don't think that had anything to do with treating it respectfully most peoples first reaction to unexpected injury is not to just start launching things in panic you see him slowly realize he fucked up and didn't start panicking till after he sat it down it is doubtful in that entire interaction that he took the time to go ohh I better be gentle with this. your assigning emotions and context where there are none if he was respectful he wouldn't have been man handling the thing in the first place. you are what's wrong with the world with your fictitious delusions.

I’ve been stung by a jellyfish on my ankle and it felt like a rope with hot thumb tacks was being wrapped around and then pressed in. It was horrible.
The cells that cause stinging are called “nematocysts” and they’re like a little harpoon guns that shoot into your skin as soon as you touch them

I remember getting stung by a jellyfish once. It felt like a billion tiny hairs being pulled out of your skin. I was so scared someone was gonna pee on me but luckily the lifeguard was very calm and I remember some sort of green substance being used and I was better very shortly. I didn’t pick the jellyfish up but it was in the ocean with me.

My family once swam at a beach in Cape Canaveral really close to the cruise ships port. We felt like we were getting tiny electric shocks while we swam and asked a lifeguard about it asking if there was an electricity danger possible or something (even though it made no sense). He explained that jellyfish get chopped up by the cruise ships and the water was saturated with pieces of jellyfish that cause those little stings that you still feel when you leave the water. That was the day I learned the vinegar trick. He said frequent swimmers there bring their own but the lifeguards keep spray bottles of vinegar to negate the sting and passed it to us
Ya know last year, I think September I went go a girls church camp, one time, while we were at the beach next to the camp a flag had a color on it, the color that would say “watch out for jelly fish”. Now these jellyfish were extremely clear and we had to be super cautious. When I was building a small hole in the ground near the shore. A jelly fish came up and stung me. I didn’t see it and I didn’t feel the sting till around night time. I woke up with a really bad stinging on my wrist I looked down to see a large jellyfish sting going down my arm. I was so scared I didn’t sleep the rest of the night because I thought it was one of those worms that can get under your skin. The next morning we had a cpr class, I started to feel nauseous and weak, so I was allowed to go sleep in the cabins with my friends. When my mother got back from going to the store I told her about the sting and she said to take it easy for 2 or 3 days, and I still have the scar.👍🏻
My science teacher once told us to put pee on a jellyfish sting and made us watch that one clip from friends 😂😂😭
My teacher told us not to do that as it doesn’t do anything other than cause irritation
It's actually a myth
Ngl I was sure pee could work because while its gross I git told pee kill bacteria
It's not a myth people just misunderstand it. Your not peeing because pee has some magical chemical property, your peeing cause pee is warm, so it's like applying heat, which does work. People have 'myth busted' it, but they always just poor cold pee that's been sitting in a bottle.
@@nolongerjuicyboiz4413 Google it, it's a myth and can actually make the sting worse
I remember when me and my brother found only the head of the a jellyfish on the beach and we poked it with a stick then it’s brain fell out 😭but today in time I know jelly fish don’t have brains (I think )so what was that thing 😭😭😭
Lots of jellies youd find along the shore just look like blobs of snot. That's their whole body. No clue what the "brain" would have been, though.
Probably just whatever was inside the membrane. They have a nervous system, so maybe the nerves?
They still have tons of organs tho + there's tons of different jellyfish species
@@weelewism8442 It's a bag with a stomach inside of it that has a single opening, some small sensory organs like simple eyes, tendrils to collect food, gonads, and some nerves and muscle fibers running through its body keeping the whole thing on course.
If you kick it with your flippers the cell structure will float in the water which could sting your face
That is why you should never touch a wild nihilego.

I could already hear, "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy A Dead Jelly Fish Sting Me I Don't Wanna Die 😭"
There's a reason commercial fisherman wear gloves when pulling in ropes and nets lol
Yep... it's not because of jellyfish though. Ever had rope scrape away the skin on your hands.. or a net rip off a pinky?
My dad got stung… he refused to get seen by a medical professional even though his leg was swollen to twice it’s normal size and he had to use a cane to walk. It was horrible to watch my strong father go through that. By some miracle he recovered and is fine now (16 years later) 😅
Rubbing mud also helps.. it is what the life guards told me when my son was stung by one. It worked!
I remember I was on a beach and there was a dead jellyfish on the floor. I was barefoot and accidentally ran on it. I screamed SO loudly and like everyone on the beach stared at me.
"Oh look a dead snake, let me touch it's fingers" -No one ever

Thanks for clarifying that I can’t pee on it, that’s what I usually do when I get a scab or splinter👍
I'm betting they pulled it out of the water and it wasn't one that washed up on the rocks it looks very much alive
Why?? 🤣 i can't stop laughing at that guy. His shouting at the end🤣🤣🤣
"Bro why did you pee on it that doesn't do anything!"

I feel that delayed response, & jumping back in the water 😂. First time they hit me I had no idea what the hell had happened. Shit hurts. The water is not safe.
The delayed response cracked me 😂 but hopefully it wasn’t too bad of a sting.
Cyanea lamarckii is a type of jellyfish that I got stung by, I got stung by it's tentacle last year, my dad had to pee on my foot, the pee made no difference, I put some vinegar on it and it helped. It felt like 100 little people pinching my foot all in the same spot. I cired for like an hour or two.
I got stung once by a dead washed up blue manowar on the beach, curiosity got the better of me when I tried to touch it, it stung my foot, my entire body went in shock as I fell to the ground it felt like touching live wire, I was a kid back then and didn't know any better what a jellyfish was.
Luckily I learned from that encounter since.
Same when snakes can still bite even though you cut off the head.
Be always cautious and aware.

Man hit the panic button 😂😂😂
Probably the cold water would have numbed the sting. That's my guess

Do NOT use vinegar if you are not certain which jelly fish it is.
In some cases it actually increases the amount of venom.

Storytime!
I remember being on the beach once, we went in at 6am and stayed for a good couple of hours. As we were walking out, there were thousands of dead (probably) jellyfish surrounding the seashore, so we had to touch them to get out. I tried holding one and it didnt sting from all places, I'm glad. My brother, being the asshole he is, decided to squish the jellyfish in my hands and it just turned into tiny jelly pieces. It felt as if I was squishing massive orbeez. After watching this video, I realized how I put myself in danger and I promised I'll never do that again 😭
As somebody who was born and grew up in a beach town I'm fairly certain I know not to touch jellyfish living or dead before I knew how to speak
In Australia, what we do for blue bottles is usually;
make sure to remove all the tentacles, and then wash with fresh water, some people say hot water works best, and spray stingos for the itch relief, most people use ice to numb the pain and swelling in lymph glands
I think nurses use aspro clear as a more effective treatment, u get it a bit wet then rub it on the original sting area (I think it’s good for most stings and bites)
Vinegar can actually spread the sting, I only know people who use it for sea lice irritation
Also blue bottles cannot technically die, their sail ‘bubble’ can be popped but basically as long as they are still wet they can still sting
Be careful of them irukandji no antidote for them
I was having fun poking a box jelly fish until it started chasing me 😭
That's fine as long as you keep that same energy with something else that is alive but can actually defend itself
wait you’re not supposed to pee ok it? i owe my homies sister one…

@@adhambutsaif5589 factually untrue, the ammonia in urine WILL cause more pain however it is also a counter agent to the toxin that jellyfish use and makes it inert. Kind of like battery acid and baking powder. Urine is also quite clean and is NOT going to make the odds of infection any worse than if you used salt water. If you ever go anywhere there are large amounts of jelly fish (and native people) and someone has been stung, you may be asked to pee in a cup. It's just a thing.

Sea salt works well too. At least it did for me in the 90s lol
If you’re on a boat and have packets of salt nearby, rub that on it. It helps, and standing in the salt water(if there aren’t more jellyfish around).
That Jellyfish is straight out of a horror movie. Don't jump in the water like a genius, you might drown
As a child I once picked up a jellyfish. It had a weird flat shape and I showed my brother saying that it was "translucent pudding". Then this random guy shouted at me, telling me I should drop it and then the beach got evacuated because of the jellyfish. I was so lucky that it didn't sting me 🤡
