  • Over 1600 LIKES! Learn the complete Step by Step process on how to remove an epoxy coating, repair cracks and fill pin holes and polish a concrete floor with a WerkMaster EDGE concrete floor grinder. Why do we call this the Best DIY Video? Because it demonstrates in 7 minutes the beginning to end process that will help most contractors and DIY enthusiasts determine if tackling a polished concrete floor is viable for them. Although this video features The Edge, the Step-by-Step process will also benefit planetary concrete grinder and rotary drive grinder users. Follow along with Frank Sommers as he explains the process.
    You will learn how to remove epoxy paint, yellow safety lines, grind with metal bond tools, repair cracks, fill small pits and pin holes to improve durability, maintenance and shine during the densifying stage. See how to edge and deal with corners.
    The polishing process starts at 200 Grit resins through the 400, 800, 1500 and 3000 Grit stages followed by how to seal the floor.
    Have Questions? Frank has over 20 years experience running both planetary, rotary and multi-disc concrete floor grinders. Leave a comment and Frank will be happy to respond, or email Frank at support@werkmaster.com

    • @WerkMasterConcreteStone
      @WerkMasterConcreteStone  Před 10 měsíci

      Our customers use the EDGE on 8.5 to 9.0 hard floors. On floors this hard, we recommend our Gold Bond Tooling with special diamonds that are specifically designed for these types of floors. After any coatings are removed, we recommend using our Mist & Go System for the 30/40 & 70/80 Grit metal bond stage. Pump up sprayer with medium mist. Enough to wet the floor without leaving water on the surface. We do the same at the 100 Grit Achromic stage prior to densifying.

    • @WerkMasterConcreteStone
      @WerkMasterConcreteStone  Před rokem

      Hi Jimmy, it depends on a number of factors; 1. Is there anything on the concrete to be removed? ie. Epoxy, thinset, VCT or carpet glue, paint, stains, etc. 2. What is the hardness of the concrete? Soft, Medium or Hard? 3. What level of shine are you trying to achieve? Matt, semi-gloss or high gloss finish? 4. Are you planning to dye the floor? 5. Are there cracks in the floor? 6. What is the square footage of the floor to be polished? 7. Is it a residential or commercial place? 8. Are there multiple rooms, closets, kitchen area, bathroom?
      If you can clarify these points, we can then provide you with a price range for the work.

      @WerkMasterConcreteStone  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello John, I would give yourself 2-4 days depending on final level of desired sheen. If you already have a nice looking floor, then it will go faster. If you floor has seen a better day, then you will need to work it more with the machine! Good luck with your project!

    Do you recommend a particular grinding pattern to use the machine? I have seen cases where some areas are over grinded with a single pass of the machine, because of the position of the tools itself.

    • @WerkMasterConcreteStone
      @WerkMasterConcreteStone  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Leandro for the feedback! The 69(considered high gloss) represents the gloss level of the floor. A gloss level meter is used to test the mechanical polish of a floor. Gloss Level Meters are used to validate that the floor has been mechanically polished vs just being sealed and "shinny".

    “60/80’s to 100 resins”
    Not 120 metals, or 50 hybrids, Mach or ceramic 100’s…
    That’s a bad call. That’s why homie polished the floor with the 100’s for a day in that little room and had to “drop down” to 100 resins again after applying densifier.
    What’s the head pressure on that little baby toy machine?

    • @WerkMasterConcreteStone

      That is correct Russell! We have moved away from the older copper based transitions tools(hybrids) and use our Achromic resins! New technology that eliminates many steps while giving you excellent results! Our technology doesn't get stuck on head pressure. Speed and good quality bonds and industrial diamonds are what give us results!
