The greatest part about this story is that it was Gods plan from the beginning. God said the older would serve the younger. And Esau gave his birthright to Jacob in exchange for food before Isaac even gave away the blessing. It was meant to be all along. God works through us all to bring His Word to life! We can’t judge anyone in the story. God works in mysterious ways. His ways are above our ways so we can judge all we want but it had to be that way from the beginning. I love this story and it taught me so many things. God loves you! :)

Jacob is my favourite biblical character because of his slow evolution, he begins as a scheming anti-hero and ends as a wise man, who has understood his wrongdoing and made something good out of it. This to me represents that even the most wicked can turn a new leaf and become decent people.

Rebekah was indeed cursed in that she didn't see her favorite child again when Jacob fled to her brother's (his Uncle/father in law, Laban) in Padam Aram as Rebekah died while Jacob was still in Syria/Padam Aram... We should not try to "help" God's Plans come to fruition because when God promises something, He will fulfill it with or without our help as God is not a man that He should lie. Lesson learned: Wait on God... His Time is not necessarily our time (I'm saying this to myself as I know I am very impatient)...

'Jacob was made from the first drop. Go take a skinny neck bottle and drop a stone in. Then another one. Now dump them out. The second stone comes out first but the first dropped stone comes out last. Likewise Jacob was formed by the first drop and was formed first although he came out last'
I'm paraphrasing but it's in his Genesis commentary.

Did you ever think about how God will transfer the blessings to what you call "simpleton" because He uses these things to confound the wise.
Isaac was blind not only by his old age, but preference to Esau, who knows if God allowed him to blindly anoint the wrong son. Think about it, Isaac loved Esau because it seemed he was a hunter as he loved. He was Daddys son.
But I honestly believe God gave Rebekah the ability do what was necessary to pass the Abrahamic blessing to the right son.
Those who are tied to the gut satisfaction tend to those matters of this world, whereas Isaac exemplifies those leadership qualities necessary to sustain the plans of God.

It goes deeper than that but so many of us surrender our birth rights because of worldly things and not listening to the word of God and the Holy Spirit and what Keeps Us separated from it and in darkness goes pretty deep, of course it's iniquity that's the primary source, and going from light to darkness which can be described in Proverbs where King Solomon States whosoever curses his mother or father his lamp shall be casted into obscure Darkness, then I learned in Romans chapter 1 another source of it how your heart can become dark. But it's mainly in the case of Jacob and Esau is choosing to deprive yourself of spiritual things for something temporary like instant gratification. That was ultimately my downfall and he brought the Calamity upon me as deserved. It's a suffering I would not wish upon anybody it's the worst feeling you could ever feel it's a living hell
