    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Před 4 měsíci

      @@user-zc5mc4yw7k yes. There are a few differences but it will work. You will just leave the 2 vtec connection without anything connected to them. The oil pan on the a2 is aluminum, the a1 is steel. The support bracket for the transmission at the bottom is different because of that. Therefore just run without a trans support or get one from a a2.

    With your remove and install Honda videos, I was followed your detailed steps and did the same for a 2003 Honda Civic LX EM2 motor. I am going to start the car this weekend. You make a great teacher because you teach with simplicity and tell what to do. I was a self-employed mechanic in the 90s and built a muscle car for racing. With your informative videos, I got back into the business fixing only Hondas, but just for my sons for now.

    Only thing I found difficult that wasn't explained is when I was swapping for the vtec sensor the pipe that runs around the side on the JDM motors is bent upwards. If you're really careful the sensor will plug right in. I'm curious if the heat is going to make the cables or sensor brittle over time. Seems like the American version with the sense the pip slopes down more than the JDM version. Curios if I should have just swapped it out as well. TOO LATE NOW lol Thanks for this. It is the best step by step on pulling and installing I have found on here. I'll be doing a 99 accord soon as well hoping it's just as easy.

    What do I have to do to get the Canadian built bmxa transmission to work properly with a jdm d17a? Or is that not an option? I recently swapped a jdm d17a vtec engine into my 2005 civic lx non vtec . Tried to get it to work with bmxa transmission and it only worked for a short amount of time. Currently it’s not driveable . Makes a horrible winding sound in park neutral and reverse. Drive D3 and D2 seem to be working fine. Also it won’t even go in reverse the winding sound gets louder when you hit the gas in reverse. What are the options to get my car running properly again I’m desperate any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Great video man. Would like to pick your brain since you seem to have done many of these. I have an 05 d17a1 that blew. I ordered a used engine that must have been an 01-03 d17a1. The engine I ordered doesn't have the egr valve. We are going to swap the water outlet and gasket from the old motor onto the ordered one. Bit when we took the water outlet and gasket off of the ordered one, there was oil in the egr port. Do you know how that would have happened? Would we need to do anything to that port before installing the new gasket, water outlet, and egr valve? Thanks for your time in making the video and answering questions. You are appreciated for sure.

      @jessemoore510 Před rokem +1

      @hondaresource took the intakes off of both engines. The Gaskets are different but the intakes are the same. In case anyone ever runs into this issue again. The easiest way to do it, however, is to just take the intake/water outlet/egr all off of the old engine together. 2 less parts to handle, and 2 less Gaskets to mess with.

    I went to the junkyard and bought a nice looking D17A from a wrecked Civic.
    Did the motor swap and everything turned out okay.
    Took it for a test drive and the transmission quit working. It barely will pull when it's cool. But then slips all the way in a matter of seconds.
    I could go buy another transmission but I'm worried that this transmission is okay and maybe I forgot to do something.
