I actually argue that Gi-Hun is besides his protagonist luck because even people with kind hearts can make shitty mistakes. He acts impulsively at times, has emotional outbursts, struggles mentally and financially, isn't the bravest guy ever, his high empathy can make him easy to manipulate, he can't always resist temptation, and he makes mistakes. These are personal problems people deal with.
Sang-woo is above average intelligence, is a master manipulator, and is calculating when it comes to homicide. Not many people are like this.

I like to interpret the bad VIP acting as a criticism to the artificiality of the rich. How their humour and entire person is derived by money and whatever is populor/can be capitalized on (ie. 69 jokes, gold masks, wearing robes, and sipping whiskey. rather cartoonish). They're human by appearance. It's probably not correct but it makes watching the VIP scenes more tolerable.

Honestly, Han Mi Nyeo saved the show from being downright dark. She was the much needed comic relief and had a interesting personality. She was manipulative, but downright smart (street smart). Not to forget her end. She knew she would die, but wouldn't allow that it would be because of Deok Su's cowardice. Her sacrifice was the ultimate redemption.

Oh Il-Nam was a quite good written villain. He became so rich, that he could no longer feel fun. So he decided to start a game where he invites desperate people who would die anyway, either via the loansharks, disease or other reasons. And he did say that the players returned willingly, despite knowing the risks. Twists like this are always interesting. He also kinda gives me the Palpatine vibe, being a manipulator. Like Sidious, he dragged down a good character to his level, when he challenged Gi-Hun for the final game. Il-Nam won, when Gi-Hun decided to watch instead of helping that man.

Ali wouldn't have won anyway, he was too kind and trusting and unfamiliar with Korean games. Even if he did make it past the glass Bridge he would've died in squid game, he'd be confused. Also sang woo did what he had to. He treated ali with kindness but when ali came back into the game and he had to fight ali for his life he chose for him to have the chance at winning, which was honestly fair and reasonable

Honestly I'm not usually the "main character" person, i usually chose the side characters. But this...they did a really good job, that made my fav character Gi-Hun.
Ali was like an angel in that game, he actually saved the protagonist, I would gave everything to see him alive in the game together with gi hun

Not to be a nerd, since front man survived a gunshot at the shoulder, but those can be fatal. The bullet often shatters itself and lands usually on bones, breaking them and causing a lot of pain - you get very nervous, your body has a hole, and your blood pressure goes higher. You can die by bloodloss.
Not to mention Jun-ho fell off a cliff onto the water shortly afterwards, so if he didn't die of bloodloss, he might aswell die from a) the fall b) drowning c) hypothermia.
That being said, this is fiction so I wouldn't be surprised if he was alive and thriving.

Honestly there probably is a tragic story behind the guards. Just seeing how devoid of life and emotion that unmasked guard showed before the Front Man shot him spoke to a more dark and disturbing training regime.
I don’t think so. In the videos before in the first episode, you could see some players picked red and were in the competition. So while this theory is interesting, I don’t think it holds any merit or is true.

Lmao if I see someone saying that Sang-woo is "selfish" I will throw hands. First of all, he's not selfish. He literally gave Ali money even tho he himself didn’t have much. Also he's not a bad person just a smart one. His actions weren't selfish or anything. In my personal opinion they make complete sense if you think about it. First of all, I completely understand why he betrayed Ali. He didn't want Ali to die he just wanted himself to life which yes it may sound selfish but would you sacrifice yourself for someone you met like a week ago? Also Gi-hun did something similar to Il-nam and nobody's attacking him for it (Even if Il-nam was the one who started this game, Gi-hun still used his dementia against him in order to win).
The thing with Sae-byeok. I get that you're upset that she died but be glad that she didn't die slowly due to the bleeding. Even tho Gi-hun shouted for help I doubt anyone would come, the guards watched so many people die I don't think they cared at all about Sae-byeok. Sang-woo just made her death shorter which just ended her suffering (because as I already said nobody's gonna come to help her, the only thing you can do is stop her from suffering by killing her sooner.)
Also pushing the guy of the bridge makes sense too. I don’t think I have to explain why but I guess. They were running out of time and didn’t have much time to think left. If he didn’t push him all 4 of them would’ve died instead of just 1 person.
Aside from that he’s a perfect representation of how the game corrupts the players. He‘s not inherently bad but he was desperate to win the money so he can pay for his mistakes. To do that he had to basically abandon his emotions which is why he seems so cold hearted and seems like he lacks empathy. (Which he doesn’t)
He made a huge mistake and is now willing to do anything to fix it which he can only do by winning the money. And by willing to do anything that includes killing Gi-hun and other players. He didn’t tell Gi-hun about the honeycomb game but he was definitely debating doing so. At that point he was still debating whether it’s worth keeping gi-hun or not (I think he ended up thinking it was worth to keep him but in the very end he did have to kill him). Also I don’t think that he didn’t care about Gi-hun but as I already said this is a last man standing game and he desperately needs the money to help his mother, so he had to abandon his feelings so he wouldn’t stop halfway through. This game isn’t about making friends it’s about being the last person alive and he‘s one of the very few people who understands that.
I wanted to say this. Sang-woo isn’t selfish nor selfless. He isn’t a bad person nor a good one. He‘s in a desperate need of the money to help his mother and make up for his mistakes and he‘d do anything to achieve that. You can see that he’s not really a bad person in episode 2 but in the game he couldn’t allow himself to feel.
There just wanted to explain why the some of the things Sang-woo did make complete sense but also explaining why he acts the way he does in the game. Also I’m not trying to justify him, he made unjustifiable mistakes and I know that. I’m just trying to explain his character and why he isn’t inherently bad.

Ngl I hated him for killing her in the moment but she was definitely gonna die anyways. The only doctor was killed off early on.
He also didn’t tell Gi Hun about the honeycomb game, pushed the man who guided them through, and would’ve definitely killed Gi Hun if he had the upper hand, the only reason he killed himself was because he didn’t want to succumb to the life awaiting him beyond, and he definitely didn’t kill Sae because he wanted to give her a slower death, he just wanted to seal his fate as he knew they both could’ve tagged team to his eventual fate, and knew that Gi Hun alone could be easily melted because of his golden heart.
