thanks a lot for making such a good video. After 1 year without closing the sun shade of my panoramic sunroof on my E500, I followed your instructions this morning and in 20 minutes, it was fixed up. And it cost me less than 5 euros . You should have seen the big smile on my face after the repair. God bless you.
Thanks a lot my friend! My motor was making that same suspicious noise and was not opening at all. After following your instruction I managed to get it to work! Universal workshop said that it would cost between 2000-4000 euros!
Thank you so much! Same car same issue. In my case 2 of the 3 rubber grommets were shot. Instead of the washer I used a fuel injector rubber o-ring that fit perfectly around the bolts. Cost of the operation..zero. Thanks man!
I love watching all Mercedes fixes..although I have the SL model I still love informational videos like you put out..thanks for taking the time to share your Mercedes fixes and repairs and general information..
I was afraid this wouldn’t work on my 2008 e550 because the sunroof was stuck open halfway on the tilt setting, but it worked perfectly! Thank you so much!
This worked well , you don’t necessarily need to pull the first cover off, getting the mirror back on was the biggest hassle and took a lot of strength and screwdriver wedging the spring back as you push it back on. Good on you Mate saved me fortune 👍
THANKS A LOT. You solved the problem and it didn't take me ten minutes out there they told me I had to change the THANKS A LOT. You solved the problem and it didn't take me ten minutes out there they told me I had to change the gear.THANK YOU💯💯
Thanks so much. This was a big help. I have an old 2009 E350. Didn’t want to spend $500 getting it fixed. Just wanted to add .. if glass roof closes and the fabric still goes grrrr … Add another washer … ☺️ .. Thanjs again so much … 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Saved me hundreds (if not more) dollars! After a mechanic charged me $300 to just manually close it and another mechanic told me 'sorry motor is busted'. What a joke. Thanks a lot!!!
This video helped me to fix this on my 09 e63. When pulling out the mirror, I snapped the rain sensing cable so had to reorder that from pelican parts. And putting it back in was extremely difficult. I ended up using a metal filer and some grease so the spring loaded pointy bit would go in. Scared if the sunroof stops working again I'll snap another cable trying to re open everything.
Hello, I encountered the same problem with my sunroof. So I followed your video without disassembling the mirror, because from the moment that we remove the plastics at the level of the windshield and that of the mirror, it is necessary to dislodge the ceiling lamp at the level of the mirror then pull a little towards the windshield and remove it completely. Then I put a washer like on the video and I took the test. My sunroof is working normally. Thank you so much. Mon toit ouvrant refonctionne normalement. Merci beaucoup.
That is exactly what I will do. I have the same problem, and Mercedes official workshop confirms this morning that the fix will cost about 3000 euros. Hope that this will solve it also in my E320. Thanks a lot for sharing and I will let you know the result.
For anyone wondering, just tried this on my E550 2009 and it worked! Used M8 washers and I actually had to put 2 on the bolt instead of just 1, so it must’ve really been worn down... thank you so much for the video saved me a lot of money!
Nice job my friend. Can you tell meif there are two motors fornthe pano roof? Is there one for the glass and one for the shade? My shade does nlt move. Thanks
Isaac Fils I’m surprised I don’t own a set of those plastic tools ( very useful ). I’ve got a job to tackle on my Ceyenne that requires me having them.
Hi my friend , in my case whith same problem , the teeth in the rail track that the gear set into is broken , dose i have to replace the hole rail track or there's anything I can do ?
Gonna assume I need a motor now. I did what you did in the video. Worked for a while but now it’s back to not closing without it being manual. Rear shade never closed either. Front shade closed and opened but then stayed open and then the glass stopped working
Hello, maybe you will know why this does happen: my panoramic roof when opening cannot be opened fully with just one click, just like yours but closing is ok. A couple months ago my sunroof absolutely did not open did no noise, nothing but recently it came back to life just randomly. Any suggestions? the curtain worked all the time but just like sunroof it keeps geting stuck.
My panoramic roof on w204 can not open along in one click, need to push the button for a few times (probably 5-7 time, its move only a few inche in one click, almost the same in 4:38 in VDO) also the way back as well Does this will help?
Thank you for sharing this video. I have the same problem with that noise coming from the roof. Also the last time I opened it, it got blocked from the right side, and I closed it manually. Any advice?
Mr. JKL. Your videos are some of the best tutorial on MB repair and maintenance. I own a 2011 W212 E350 4MATIC with 33,350 original miles. I am first owner and unfortunately this person ran a stop sign and slammed the front driver side. The following parts were replaced: Head lamp assembly, bumper, grill, hood, and various other parts under the hood. There is a problem with the left head lamp light, it is slightly out of alignment and shines at the tree tops!!!! The collision shop that did the work proved to be very incompetent, so I'm not taking the car back to them. Can you give me some help on fixing this problem? I do have some mechanical expertise. Thanks, Dave Portillo
David Portillo I think the projector is knocked out of its position I think you need a new headlight, try looking on your local Craigslist for one. But to install it you’ll need to remove the front bumper to get to the bolts under the light
@@Nissannx2000svg thanks for the advise. A friend of mine said the same thing, that the bumper and other components would have to come off and most likely replace the headlight. Cheers mate....
Any body damage or big jobs I rather have it done at MB because they make sure to use OEM parts and would replace things that many shops won’t then you end up with a situation like yours.
Solved the same issue on a '07 w211 e63 . But how does that work... Is the big part moving vertically, and if so, the sensor cannot feel it should stop to power the electric motor ? So when the rubber grommet because to hurt/skinny, the big part move and the sensor never knows when the window is closed ? What do you think
After doing the repair by changing the gear of the motor (15$) and puting only one washer to one screw one year ago, it broke again last week. So, 1 year later I answer to myself : the motor go little bit out of its perfect location, which allow the gear to turn "free" and hurt itself. Bought a new gear again, and plan to put 3 washers to the 3 screws, in order to maintain the motor in perfect location. How this will be the last repair haha
