Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody [Chief Mouse Restoration]

- Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody | 1080p50 - This is the best version there is. It's a transfer from Sikke's 2" video tape, which was then carefully cleaned up by Chief Mouse. Much better quality than the version you find on the official DVD (which is also horribly cropped to 16:9), or old VHS/Laserdisc copies.

So this is the version Tom Scott was talking about... Bohemian Rhapsody always makes me cry.
yes
no...the one officially uploaded on the Queen channel is the bad one. This is the best version coming from an actual 2 inch video tape
@@QueenAllTheWay I think you either misinterpreted the above comment or haven'twatched/ paid attentiojn to the Tom Scott video about why music video remasters look bad.
@@QueenAllTheWay Yeah but Tom Scott said that this was the good one
Looking back and remember i was sleepy as heck by the time I posted this reply. Sorry for the misunderstanding lol
It's such a shame to see the official video remaster looking worse than this.
Good job, Chief Mouse. You impressed me again.
@@axell1687 "It's such a shame to *see* the official video remaster *looking* worse than this."
yep
Official remaster made in 1975 :/
It's better than official remaster!
Cause the AI technologies are too much young. From here to the next year will be used in everything restorization.
@@evil_chuck no ai was used on both restorations
Chief Mouse remasters is the best
Rendered in 1080p to allow for 50fps, and preserve quality.

@@maxitaxi6484 - Deinterlaced.
@@SimonChristensen lo hizo Chief Mouse?
@@maxitaxi6484 it's deinterlaced, because interlaced video isn't supported in CZcams and for example 1080i50 video would be automatically converted to 1080p25 to CZcams
honestly this should have as much views as the remastered version, this looks absolutely fantastic!
Never thought I'd ever see or hear this in such high quality.
audio quality isn't the best but itt's still good nonetheless
The video quality is awesome
Perfect

Great job! Just as I remember watching it seven times in a row on TOTP on BBC1 in late-75/early-76. It's good to know care has been taken in transferring the recording from 2", and that you've preserved the temporal resolution of 50 'pictures per second'. I'm hoping they'll be a revolution away from deinterlacing i50 and i60 to p25 and p30. It makes a huge difference to my eyes, and it makes all the difference when I get to watch great nostalgia like this.
As for the sound quality, well, I remember it sounding quite woolly at the start every time it was played on Top of the Pops, and as there's a fluff in the piano playing, then I agree it:s we'll worth keeping the original track, even though 2" Quad didn't have very high specs for sound. I'm sure anyone who wants to see it with a great soundtrack can find a way of syncing it with one in Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, Final Cut, Premiere, or DaVincI Resolve 12.5 which is versatile and quite literally free to download and run.
Yes, I'm a real video geek! Can you tell me how this was deinterlaced from 50 interlaced fields to 50 progressive frames. Was it 'bobbed' into 50 full frames at half resolution, or deinterlaced to 25 full frames of 625 lines per second and interpolated to maintain vertical and temporal resolution? Or was it some other method I'm not aware of and should know about? Eek, what a geek... ;-)
[Please don't run a mile. Please check out my fledgling CZcams channels (more on the way when I can figure it all out). You'll see that my geekery extends to a far, far wider academy than video tech and includes consciousness, spirituality, DMT, experiential reality, psychedelics and what it means to be human, cryptocurrencies, money and law, and how we can rebuild our civilisation to make it truly civilised. Nuff sed.]
Thanks again... :)
You'd have to ask Chief Mouse, although I believe he used QTGMC in AviSynth, plus a range of other effects:

I'm here as well after the Tom Scott video. It's sad to see that fans yet again HAVE to be the ones to do the most proper restoration available to us... Because the original artists either don't care or can't get this to happen for one reason or another...
this song still gets to me. i feel joyful, anger, sadness, and i always choke up at the end and cry for the beautiful melodies at the end. i introduced this to my friends when it came out. thank you Queen.
Thanks for Queen at 50fps!
:)
Just in time for the '91 re-release, hats off to all involved.
This was done back in February/March. I only decided to upload it now. But yes, hats off to Sikke and Chief Mouse!
Classic Queen video versions of Wayne's World soundtrack in 1992.
Around 51 seconds you can hear the song play over it one time
Did anyone else notice there was a little bit of a glitch at the beginning of the song when Freddie says to me it carries on a little longer than what it should
One of my all time favorites from Queen... Thanks For rendering it...
My all time absolute favorite from queen
i think that none of us knew that john was wearing a queen shirt before watching this

SOOOOOO PRETTY THANK YOU
It's sad that the "official" upload of this song and the live aid concert are bad quality. They were deinterlaced poorly, with the cheap discard algorithm. Unfortunately most videos on CZcams are like this, leading to the misconception that videos in the past were "lo-fi"; mostly newer generations think that way (the ones who think that the p in 1080p means "pixels").
Yes, it's quite sad that a lot of older material is having half the visual information discarded.
Uhh how? Maybe I’m blind but it doesn’t look this bad.
Please don’t send a wartank to my house.
Also you have to realize that before the remastered (and 1 billion views) it used the old version. Which basically looks like this, except it’s in 25fps and the intro starts off late. Which was used to grow the song.
This is the closest we’ll get to seeing the video as people in 1975 did
good job, i would have appreciated the original album HQ audio as well in order to have a perfect remaster.
the song of all times
Great!!!
Awesome song!!
their necks must've hurt
the video is probably the best on youtube, but the sound quality is very bad. its just in mono and there is alway a hissing in the background.
That's right. I didn't change the audio because the audio for the video is actually slightly different. At 0:51 you can hear a mistake in the piano.
@@SimonChristensen That isn't a piano mistake, they just pasted on the same segment of the song again, so that it could be in sync.
I know I’m a bit late on this conversation but I’m about to download this video and then download the best audio of this song, and then put it together.
It's not yet remastered
Until 2011
Greatest song ever bar none
Wish people were more aware of the framerate thing.
I see most sports videos and high framerate videos always get converted into lower framerates and they don't look smooth at all but majority seems to like the laggy feel to videos.
25fps?! Yuck. 50 looks much better. I don't upload in 30 anymore, because 50/60 looks that good to me.
What really annoys me is when people get 24/25fps video and put it to 60. Like wtf? It's more accurate at 50, ppl seem to just think 50 is some diseased fps or something, when for most older film it's more accurate
Bellissime canzoni
Damm did good
God bless 50fps compared to 25fps
it was also shot in 50i natively

Had to go back to this video for the awesome quality. Can you edit this with the audio from Chinwonder2 's video? Thanks in advance.

Oh
Tom Scott?
Hi!! Can you restore some Iron Maiden's show? Live After Death from 1985, Beast Over Hammersmith from 1982 or Rock in Rio 2001? In 1080 or 4k.

What the fuckin YouTUbe no interlaced compatibility. Also, 50i and 60i videos are always half-deinterlaced or blend-deinterlaced.
Who realise that error on 0:50 ?
I think it was to like, overlay the audio to sync or some crap like that. Something that was fixed in the remastered.
Remasterizado
There is NO 50fps.
Yes there is
Only 25!
50. Change the playback settings to HD.
I'm sorry... Mozilla Firefox does not support this feature! In Chrome all OK.
Firefox does support it though. I use that myself
Can you sync this up to a decent audio track? For christ's sake, this audio is the worst I've heard the song.
I could, no problem. The thing is, that the original video version has a mistake in the piano playing. 0:51 :)
have you seen some lyric videos?
Notelu Have you heard the 24 track recreations? even worse!
Actually a like the sound, I remember the first time that I heard this song with that quality, for me it's pretty amazing
Simon Christensen cut out some part of the video. I think they did it with the official one
