  • In 1963, Jay Ward Productions produced a half hour series starring Hans Conried that combined clips from old silent film comedies (with new audio) and live guest stars with animated openings. This video is from the 16th episode of the series, syndicated by Desilu Film Sales. It features Hans and his "live" guest, the Bullwinkle puppet voiced by Bill Scott.

That is true. Get this he also voiced Mr Darling in Peter Pan and was the reference model (not voice) for, well yes… King Stefan (and possibly the uncredited (alleged) voice of the announcing) in Sleeping Beauty. Conried was also Snidley Whiplash and the Grinch

@@kevindavis296 Believe it or not, that is in keeping with British theatrical tradition: the actor who played Captain Hook also portrayed Mr. Darling. (This held true even in the musical starring Mary Martin as Peter, in which Cyril Ritchard played both roles.)

@@Jo_Wardy that is correct, but you got to remember that Peter Pan was not the only Disney project he did as other projects include Ben and Me, The Story of Anyburg USA and Sleeping Beauty

This stuff is gold! I wish companies would make proper compilations and put out a Blu-ray even if it isn't popular.

Wikipedia says this is a replacement segment for one that was with Johnny Weissmuller for some reason never shown. possibly because he lost his wife to a car accident in 1962.

I wish Conried interviews the Three Stooges (Moe, Larry and Curly Joe) if only they were to take a break from making feature films but that never happened. It would have been so crazy and funny to see Captain Hook interviewing the Stooges.

AMAZING performer! One of the most savvy of the old-school performers -- unfortunately seen only as a 'supporting actor', (I'm a fan of '80-'90s star, Bess Armstrong, but I watched that HBO production of 'Barefoot in the Park' repeatedly because of his supporting role in the, then, popular production.) Conried is one of the performers on my wish-list of artists I'd loved to have seen in their element-- the stage-- especially while in their prime. Iol...On a lighter note, it wasn't until, maybe, 20 years ago I learned that he was the voice of 'Snidely Whiplash'.
