      That's why Paul Frees was one of my favorite actors from back then. When it came to Jay Ward, Walter Lantz, and other studios, he was just amazing.

    This is great ! Never thought I'd get to hear the behind the scenes. Paul Frees was a master of voices second only to Mel Blanc in my humble opinion.

      That he was! There was a list of the top 10 voices that had Blanc as # 2. Such BS. IMHO Blanc is #1, followed by Paul Frees, Daws Butler, June Foray, Don Messick, Alan Reed (Fred Flintstone), Howard Morris (Ernest T Bass & Atom Ant), Jack Mercer (Popeye), Mae Questel (Olive Oyl) and last but not least Walter Tetley. Tetley was The Great Gildersleeve's nephew Leroy and he also played the wise-cracking grocery delivery boy Julius on the Phil Harris/Alice Faye show; both shows in the golden age of radio. I would also add the original Popeye & Olive Oyl (Bill Costello and Bonnie Poe/Margie Hines)

    The sad thing is that they do not make cartoons like this anymore. The voice actors are fantastic and I wish they would put all of the classic cartoons back on.

    Its like the Simpsons' voice actors. Each of them can do multiple voices and each one they do is very funny/very entertaining in its own right. I really wish I could have met these folks. They helped me a lot with growing up and laughing along the way.

      And back in the day they did the voice recordings in the same radio-show style setup so the actors could work off of each other, you should check out the outtakes for Life on the Fast Lane with Albert Brooks' lost lines and Julie Kavner's reactions. (And in the background you can hear the producers laughing)

    Why was that line so funny? Is “little fuzzy comet” slang term for something dirty and they were sneaking it into a kids’ show? They did that a few times.

      Paul frees, got his career started on radio doing dramatic shows so in the fact, Paul frees was also hilarious really shows his talent

    I have all the box sets of this series and this particular outtake in the bonus content was titled "The World's longest laugh"... though it does make one wonder, Who is the Eliza they were referencing in order to get that lever of laughs? :D

      The audio was found on an unofficial compilation of Jay Ward related audio called "Hey Moose and Squirrel!" Where they found it, I don't know. I could guess it was from the DVD sets, or maybe an old tape.
