How many beads per color is needed average? And is it also possible with seed beads that aren't all the exact same shape?

From my experience the seed beads can be different sizes and lengths and can be inconsistent if they're cheap. I bought some from Walmart and they where terrible. I'd reccomend going to a specialty store.
