Actually this piece was written by Christian Petzold. It was compiled in Bach's Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (as stated in the description), but with no composer specified.
The mystery still continues.
Played this today at my piano recital. So happy it all came out well. Thank you for this video. It helped me out a lot.

I FOUND IT. I've been searching looking for what this classical tune was called and the satisfaction is immeasurable
me too...
*same*
When I was a child I played on my flute.
Me too!
This is part of Notebook of Anna Mcdalena Bach I guess
I'm from south asia, I've been singing south asian music and playing south asian instruments for more than 7 years now. I enjoy european classical music
a lot, and now I'm trying to play it as well. I'm starting with this peice.
yeah asian instruments are a lot simpler, like. Here, not everyone knows how to play stuff like sitar or sarangi but almost every house has a harmonium and a tanpura
@Anthony T. Feik I guess depends on the instrument you're talking about. All modern day instruments with complicated structure obviously had a basic model hundreds of years ago and in europe. and these intruments have rather changed less in here. The indian flute for example is much simpler in construction than the european woodwind instruments, which I think is because european music has advanced and changed and most asian istruments have not changed much. The erhu dates back to thousands of years ago like the flute, veena saung gauk, dotara. But more advanced asian instruments have come much later. So yes I, european instruments probably came frome these simpler models that asian music has of instruments. And chinese instruments just look like they're the ancesters of most instruments.
i cant believe i’m trying to learn this when my piano teacher is currently teaching me how to play happy birthday - i may have overestimated my abilities 4 piano lessons in but i’m still determined
GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Check out Mira Marchenko's beginning lessons for some ideas on what to play.
Good luck! :D
@@l.w.paradis2108 I’ve got the whole piece down! i just really need to work on finger tension, cant seem to really manage playing without lifting my fingers but i’ll get the hang of it eventually. thank you though
As long as you have the passion nothing is overestimated. I started with moonlight sonata 1st movement as my progression work while working on the basics :)
I can still hear my grandma scolding me everytime I hit the wrong key
So can I but its in Thai scolding with my dad

Not Bach. In fact it was written by Christian Petzold (1677 - 1733) but misattributed to Bach as it was included in 'Notebook for Anna Magdelena Bach' which was assumed (though not claimed by Bach) just to include pieces written by JS.
Originating in 17th-century France, a #minuet is a slow and graceful dance in 3/4 time for groups of couples. In music, the term refers to a dance piece with similar rhythm and time, but without the accompanying dancers.
Several baroque and classical composers have written minuets for various instruments. Here is a melodic and cantabile minuet in G major by Johann Sebastian #Bach.
czcams.com/video/p1gGxpitLO8/video.html
This minuet was the first I learned. This is amazing. So simple, yet beautiful.
I'm going out. I'll be Bach in a Minuet. Thanks for the song.
+Revodon3s Learned on what? Piano? It's not so simple on bass guitar! I'm playing the lower register for a concert.
+The Great Repertoire It needs to be a little faster, though. For a minuet you think six beats to the phrase, so I'd say around dotted minim = 40. And your ornaments are peculiar - why are you emphasising a weak beat?
엄오외
I once read on Wikipedia that piece is not in fact Bach's but another relatively less known composer.
Ahmed Ali by Christian petzold
It's an interesting question. Until recently, everyone thought it was by Bach. Then in the late 1970s a Bach researcher came to the conclusion that it was Christian Petzold (or Pezold) who wrote this and the companion piece, Minuet in G minor, and they were merely collected in Bach's wife's yearbook. Bach and Petzold did know one another (Petzold was also a successful organist) and I also read that Petzold was Bach's agent for some of his works. Others have since leaped upon the bandwagon, but, I can't find a single thing in English to read that would help me decide whether I thought it was a reasonable theory or too speculative. This is the Wikipedia note: "Schulze, Hans-Joachim. "Ein 'Dresdner Menuett' im zweiten Klavierbüchlein der Anna Magdalena Bach. Nebst Hinweisen zur Überlieferung einiger Kammermusikwerke Bachs." Bach-Jahrbuch 65 (1979 pp. 45-64), pp. 54-58, 64." I've tried without success to get a hold of it. I don't read German but I've learned you can painstakingly translate most things with the help of the internet.
@@aslkhjbasijt785 Yeah, half of me was very curious and thought to do what you so generously did, and then the bigger half of me was just like "sorry, I don't really care and have work to do." But thanks for doing it!
It was not written by Bach, but by another composer who was also named Johann Sebastian Bach.

This was the first piano song I ever recited
Christian Petzold : composed this minuet
Johann Sebastian Bach : it's mine, for my lovely Anna
I was reading "The Echo and the Nemesis" by Jean Stafford and there was a reference to "Minuet in G" -- I was sure I must know it, but I had to listen to the video to jog my memory! Although I never had to play this during my single year of piano lessons, I'm now trying to envision dancing the Minuet to this charming tune. (Preferably with Richard Chamberlain in elegant court attire and powdered white wig... "A thousand pardons...") 😺💕🐾
That Winnie-the-Pooh pillow thing from like 2001...
Question: Isn't 0:55 C's both supposed to be C#?? The first one is ok, but the second one's notation is missing the # but still being played as C#
+Patrick Enrique Bührmann Yes, the second one is also a C#, because the accidentals apply within the entire measure.
Somehow I completely forgot about that, it's been years since I read any music and started again today heh
Thanks for clearing that up!
+Patrick Enrique Bührmann That is great! I hope you best of luck.

it was discovered in te 1970's that this piece was written by Christian Petzold, not Bach
Opicari
Exactly!
Shpilbass yes but would probably not have gotten famous if not bach's wife would have kept in her notebook and bach himself probably made some adjustments himself. Also bach is a genius and not letting him have credit is not acceptable
Yes, likely as the tune has been given the famous Bach A-A-B-B structure.
@@hschlang calling the minuet structure a bach structure is really controversial imo.
Now pull up A Lover's Concerto by the Toys - around 1966. It's an arrangement of Minuet in G.

This song is composed by Christian Petzold not Johann Sebastian Bach.
I'm going to play this piece at my exams ( sorry for the mistakes i'm not english)
Way too perfect 🎉❤
Thanks I was looking for it in tabs but that's good too
This was one of the main pieces that showed me I was not destined to be a professional musician. I got into a huge conflict with my teacher for changing the bassline since I just don't like it. They said "you need to be able to play it the way it's meant to be before you can improvise!", I told them to suck it and played it my way. I'm glad I figured that out relatively early.
I remember I heared it in A.N.T farm
Recall my childhood 💜
Lovely!
