768p was a common monitor/tv resolution before 1080p screens were more affordable and were 99% of the time marketed as 720p, I think the few extra lines are there to account for the overscan that was still present in most television broadcasts of the late noughties through to the mid 10's

I bought one from a truck stop, because I truck for a living. Absolutely love it. Team drive, so when it is my time to rest and sleep, the small switch screen is crap in a bouncing semi. I tried using the dock mounted to the top of my fridge, but the connection kept going in and out on bumps. Bought this thing, already had a battery pack. Which most have if their tech savvy. I put the side handles on, and used the screws that came in the box, with the installer flat head they give you. Joys slide right in and out no problem, just leave them on. Think the con of the battery pack is that yes you have to use a cable. But at the same time... Buy multiple packs. Charge one while playing. Seems awful nice to me.

If I am sitting for a time reset or doing laundry I don't have to lug around a TV. Here’s what you need to ‘dock’ your Switch without any sort of dock itself.
-portable monitor preferably 1080p/60 with Type C ports. You’ll need 2 of them.
-battery bank that has over 39w. The Switch needs 39w to dock but you’ll need more to power the monitor and keep the Switch charged as well. I have a RavPower 20K mah that has 60w total using two ports. One is a type c and the other is standard usb.
-Type C to Type C cable that supports Video
Connect the Type C video cable to the Switch and other end to the input of the monitor. Connect another Type C to Type C (the battery bank will supply this as well) to the battery bank C port and to the Monitor power C port. The bank will keep the Switch charged, power the monitor and allow the Switch to be in docked mode.
It’s way easier to show than to type it out but it works very simply and total cost would be under $200. The monitor works as a power pass through device and since the Type C cable on the Switch supports video, it sends the image even though it’s not a dock at all.

Yeah I've tried that. It's a beautiful monitor setup with extra features and a good gaming experience overall. Superb, even.
It's also 10 times less convenient than a battery powered screen with a slot on the back for a switch and place to store any old battery bank
This is a niche product with some serious shortcomings, but your suggestion isn't particularly good as a replacement idea. Not unless you want to redneck engineer your own mounting solutions with sticky back velcro. Convenient is the word of the day here

Imagine something like this, thin and affordable. Made to be placed on a table or something. Would make a nice monitor replacement that you don't need a dock for. Me and my gf play switch together everyday, and we like sitting near each other. But there's just one tv in the living room and we both prefer docked. So I end up lugging out a monitor that I use for work, hooking the dock up and all that. Would love to have just one cable to power it and that's it

I just got mine and had mine for a week now Bc I was one of the first backers. Do not believe anything this dude is saying. He blowing it truly out of proportion sadly and not giving an honest review. The only thing he right on is the screen can be better but it’s definitely playable and not that bad honestly. I have other had monitors in my house and choose this one over them every time bc of the convenience of using section just for the switch in the back and an area for the portable charge to go. I literally play this table top mode all day long and the portable charger naturally charges the switch while plugged in to power the monitor so you don’t have to worry about losing charge in the switch anytime soon. I legit turn off the monitor grab and go in seconds when I have to leave for work and take it with me so I can play in the car or at lunch. Everything works perfectly as they show it in the video. I wouldn’t use it for handheld mode Bc it can get heavy in the hands after a while. Anyways just letting you guys know be careful with these CZcamsrs and their reviews. I never go by these Bc have of them don’t give anything honest at all and are mostly motivated by sponsors. Happy New Years peeps

Kind of feel bad for this company. They were like "awwww shoot nintendo life is going to review our product what a huge win for us". Then Alex poops all over it and laughs at its design.

It would be a better idea to sell it as a shell for a switch with a borken screen, you could pull the switch board out and snap into the screen case and it would be lighter to hold than this actual product.

almost 300usd? my cheap mobile monitor cost me about 170€, or 150, i forget. It powers from USB-C, that i give power from the dock, its great. 15inches, 1080p, ok speakers too. I do have a small tiny dock, i could probably use my monitor as external, power both switch and it from a couple powerbanks

Basically it's like a tablet with joycons or stereocons attached.
Samsung should make some nice stereo controllers for their upcoming Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and S8 Ultra.

@@carlostejeda4341 the Pixio brand monitor has served me well. It includes the usb-c cable needed to output video from the Switch. You do need a power source such as a battery bank.

Your review is so hilarious! How you describe the product, and then you said "Take the joy-con and these.... chicken wings! LOL You remind me of Tim Allen in that Santa Claus movie frustrated and it's Christmas. I just bought mine today, thank you for the review. The one thing I like, as everyone said, is you compare the switch scrreen to this product so that is a big help to see that the graphics is not the same.
Can't wait for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom! Thanks again! "Concerned about my boy!' LOL

  • @thatrandomlizard

  • @RobinE_Art

I could see this being handy when you want to bring your switch to for example, a family gathering and don't want to pack the entire dock with you. But as an extension to the handheld side of the switch its kind of arse.
So the idea itself is good I feel but should be more marketed as a portable dock alternative.

Yeah part of the investment packs didn’t have the battery and some had. I don’t remember seeing how many mAh the batteries supposedly had either but to be honest you could just use an Anker battery that is over 20k mAh and you should be able to use it. But yeah, I would honestly just carry a portable monitor and a dock and use it. The idea is not bad as is but the execution is Meh.

its a big portable screen, that isn't portable. you need a wall plug... wait if I have to use a wall plug, why not just use my dock and my 50 inch tv screen?
this is one of those ideas like putting a headlight on a vacuum cleaner so you can still vacuum your floors if your power went out. or the solar powered flash light that has no storage battery so it only works when you are in direct sunlight.
