That has happened to me from getting into kayak to lure hooked on hanging tree and bees chasing us and jumping into water.....funny moments! I'm glad he did'nt get hooked he was leaning right over rods .

If you are confident that your line wasn't nicked or had a bad knot then it was most likely a snakehead that broke you off. Possibly a pickerel. Not sure if there is any musky in there or not. Black hills has some biguns but it can be very tough. Glad to see he got his combo back. I had a similar mishap when I turned my kayak halfway over on a pond in Salisbury around Christmas time. Lost a custom rod I built and a carado. Had to drag some stuff around for 2 hours in the rain and snow but finally recovered it. I know the pain and the joy. Keep up the good work maybe I will see you out there one day.

Just yesterday I caught a 2.5 pound bass, took him off the hook and was taking a picture for my wife and knocked my Berkeley Cherrywood into 12 feet of water. Tried diving to get it first, no success. Eventually I ended up tying two catfish hooks with 1/2 punch weights on a separate rod, then cast out and drug bottom. Hooked into the cork on the handle on the second cast. Best catch of the week in my eyes

Once I had to use rig of triple hooks and heavy sinker to retrieve spinning Rod that my 7 year old cousin toss into Shasta Lake in over 70 feet of water. Luckily I was able to hook the line though bail was open…. Your videos are always fun and instructive. Thanks.

That was funny shit how he fell and dunked his head and shoulders bit didn't actually go all the way in lol and then after he came up the life vest blew up! Hahaha great job at the tournament in that cold I can't belive yall didn't win. Where I live in western WA outside Seattle in this area when it's real cold the bass are definitely not hitting no jerk bait or spinner, we salmon fish rivers mostly but that's only from August thru November ish. We do something called twitch jigging for coho/ silver salmon from river banks where we throw jigs from 3/8 to 1oz basically a bigger version of a steelhead jig, you cast and bounce the bottom, jig, reel, jig, reel, bam!! And we catch fish all day and they are anywhere from 4lb to 20+ and bright red meat and it's fun as shit, it came out of the bass world so you would love it, I'm 33 and me and my 14 year old boy in my pic on here slay fish all thru the fall. You should come up and fish with us in September or October, we been watching your videos for a long time now it would be really cool to have ya up here and fish with ya broskishkosh!

I've recovered a few lost rods in deep water with a thingy I built lol. Go to the tackle shop and get some really big treble hooks. Off saltwater plugs are the best. Next a long piece of wood 1"x1". Attach the trebles to the wood with screw in U hooks then pinch them shut. Line them along the piece of wood spaced out evenly. Attach some braid in a few spots, then drag it on the bottom over the area. Works really well.

Mike tell ya boy that owns the boat about the water snake trolling motor. I bought one for my 10ft John Boat and it has a remote and I think it’s about 55 lb thrust. I also have one on my main boat and I doubt that I’ll ever go back to Minnkota.
