I just got mine in ($103 with two batteries from banggood) and this thing is awesome! So fast for a "toy"....too fast on poor traction surfaces. But it's easy to adjust from the remote, just turn the dial down to make it more controllable. This is the PERFECT truck for a first timer (speed turned to zero is very controllable for the first time user) and anyone just looking for a fun new toy! The quality is better than I expected too.

Which controller do you have? You can not turn down speed with One of the reviewed controllers.
@@ym22rr95 Uh, mine came with a controller with adjustable speed. Bought it from banggood. Sports 2.4 radio...throttle trim at the top.

Hey man nice review! You mentioned a larger pinion gear upgrade for more speed. What would be the part number for the pinion gear? I have a 16889 Brushless.

I would go with the 16889. It's brushless and a little bigger than the Hailstorm as well.

Anyone know of a better charger to get for these? I just ordered one with 2 batteries and 4 hr charge over USB seems a bit slow.
Is there any place I can find the binding procedure for these? I have the spare radio and plan on using that as you did.
I believe you just turn the truck on first then the transmitter. It auto binds everytime you turn it on and should just bind to other compatible tx.
This RC is a lot of fun... I have 2. How do I convert the hubs to handle standard hex connections? I want more aggressive tires.
they have 12mm hexes. It is usually stuck on the wheels. I like running the ZP1001 wheels on it. Its a 12th scale crawler wheel and tire you can purchase cheap on banggood.
so would i have to change the brushless esc and use a different radio is i wanted a gyro system on this? or is there a gyro that is good and cheap that can be dropped into this car as is??? also are there metal shocks and adjustable linkage steering parts available... very nice detailed review sir...PS does it have ball bearings already???
full ball bearing rig out the box. Not 100% sure but a gyro between the steering servo and receiver port should work if the gyro has pots for adjustment on it for fine tuning.

I haven't felt the need for more speed with this model so I haven't tried it. I have been told by some they do run 3s without issues.
These still sell like crazy I just got a brushed version with the red receiver & it runs off my 9125 xilnahong transmitter way better & it will run 4s no problems just a pain trying to fit batts in it I just made the 2 1000mah packs it came with into a 4s true 4s in series & it blows the bl doors off I know something has to break soner or later lol but it’s so lite it’s been taking it moter does get warm but haven’t got it past 165* even on a 1600mah 😂I posted a review on az showing it
Thats cool. Several people have told me about 3s and 4s running but I never gave it a try. I will one day when I get a small enough 3s or just 4s some like you did.
wonder if the SD1602 wing spoiler able to mount to the 16889?
I dont have them here with me atm but I believe they have different style shock towers and its doesnt have the mount for the wing. Not 100% sure though.

Wow that sux. I beat the hell out of both of these till this day and still no issues with them. Even running bigger diameter tires with beadlock wheels. Wheelie beast for sure now.
Does the 16889 pro version fit the body from the 1602 together with the spoiler ?
if they are both buggys i think so but i know the monster truck version has different shock mounting plates and body mount post locations.

not sure max size. don't have the truck with me but i have been using the 2s 1500mah lipo batts the wltoys 144001 and a979b come with and get 25min runtimes.
Hi SG 1601 have a plastic Drive Shaft with sreew on wheels is it posible to swap it for Metal Drive shaft ? I didnt find it nowhere ,any idea plz ?
i have no clue. but i run mine stock with 2s lipo 1500mah and its a really durable truck the way it is.

I actually don't know the specs sorry. I know they make oil shocks for this but i think its out of stock currently.

only thing you will need are 3 AA batts for the transmitter. Everything else is included.

That doesn't sound normal for these trucks. They do run a little hot but shouldn't be an issue. Check to see if you have any over tightened moving parts. If you actually tighten the wheels on too much you can cause binding and will lead to a thermal cutoff to save the esc from being overloaded. make sure your steering and wheels move freely and are not binding. If you still want a heat sink a 370/380 size motor heatsink should work.

banggood.com and ebay.com have oil shocks available for this but I'm not sure about other upgrades.
Looks nice! Also if you’re having range issues, check the antenna on the car to be sure it’s vertical.

No issues on mine. Just wanted to see what tx would bind and if they performed any differently. And the hbx protector tx just feels like it has a faster solid connection with a little bit more range. Nothing dramatically different the factory tx are fine. Tested it out just incase anyone with range issues watches the vid.
RunThatRC i agree. It’s the same reason I posted the comment. If someone it’s having range issues the antenna polarization could be a limiting factor. 😃 Cross polarization has a 20db loss. That’s huge.

Rafael Rafael Rafael Rafael the antenna in the car needs to be upright. Some people will put a small hole in the body and run the antenna out. I’ve even seen people use a small straw or a coffee stir stick.
If the cable is long enough you can run it to the front or back of the car and run it next to the shock tower.
can i install a 2s or 3s? but how ? what do I need for that
I only tried 2s. A 1500mah 2s fits nice. Like the one found on the wltoys 144001. About 25 min run times. Get slightly bigger and better tires and this thing is a wheelie beast.
Metal originals gears ?
they are not metal gears but they are really strong and I haven't had one of mine break yet.

i need help bad style mine works apart from forword and backwords chaged batteris in tranmitter charged the battery up for truggy binded them back up but ive only got stearing no forword or backword if i turn off the transmitter then back on agian then the moter revs up full speed but i dont have controll of the forword or backword only controll i have is stering what is the matter with it plz help p.s i have the brushless version
check to make sure your battery is charged correctly and you dont have a bad cell. If that's not the problem them its probably a bad esc receiver.

I've heard of people doing so without issues. I haven't personally because they are fine with just a slightly bigger diameter tire upgrade.

not sure if they sell a clear body for this. Might have to mod a different brand body on it.

no experience with the q903 but hear they are similarly spec'd and its also a good one according to others who reviewed that model.
How does this run in grass? Does it get stuck?
In really thick grass maybe it will get stuck. It's more for dirt or jumps and bashing around in general.
Where do you find parts for this when it breaks because it will?
you can find parts for this on Amazon and also HBX has a parts site. you can google hbx 16889 parts and you will find parts for this. I still have mine and fortunately for me nothing but the rear wing has been damaged. the truck runs perfectly still even after an empty pool bash and jump session. Crashing into a sidewalk at full speed or landing in just that perfect angle can break something for sure.

some parts I found on Amazon some on banggood. there are other sites that seem to have them but I haven't used them so I can only recommend these.

it looks like it for sure but not sure what electronics they use.
Exactly the same but the tracer comes only brushed and cost 1 more car to upgrade in brushless.

search the HBX 16889 truck. Its the same truck and those parts will work for this truck.

the battery is not built in. It's a 2s 1300mah li ion. You can fit a 2s 1500mah lipo from the WLToys 144001.
RunThatRC on Banggood,, says battery is built in on the 1602.
@@juliuscaesar8801 they just say that so they can get away with shipping it with a battery. If they say separate battery they will be required to pay for special shipping. They say built is battery on most of these and they are surely not.

So let me get this straight. Are you insinuating that THAT transmitter will get you more range?!
Both the other transmitters did get me slightly more range. What I really noticed is that I had a more solid connection with the HBX protector tx. Kind of like it has better rates settings which made the truck respond quicker.

The shocks are adjustable?
Unfortunately not. They are not oil fillable either. Just friction shocks. But you can purchase upgrades if you wish. I run it stock and it's fine for now but I want oil shocks on it for sure.

Thats a hard one to answer. You need to know what kind of RC you are in to. Do you like racing, bashing, speed, jumps, crawling? I would need to know that before I can recommend a rc that you may enjoy.

This is a exact copy of the new FTX tracer
so the FTX is a copy of this if the ftx is newer. These go by different names but some are all the same under the lexan that's for sure.
