- decided to also do a shootout comparing rod lengths to see if longer rods actually give you more distance... and if they do just how much farther do they throw...
well what i found out is that the dc reel is just insane when it comes to overall distance compared to it's big brother the curado k and little sister scorpion mgl..
that thing is on a 6'10" heavy that shouldn't load right with a 1/2oz. bait and it still slung the chatterbait out farther than the other two rods..
the scorpion mgl is actually not the greatest caster out of the 3 when it comes to bigger baits.. it's actually a let down in that department and the worst of the three...
because i feel it didn't gain any distance even though it was on a 7'2" rod compared to the curado k on the 6'7".. both rods are mh but the shorter rod is just a smidge lighter..
anyway i saw all i needed to see and the 6'7" actually impressed me on how far it can cast the 1/2oz. baits.. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thanks for pointing out the leverage deal. No one will agree with me on it.
Me too people think longer is more powerful for some reason
You absolutely had us SNOOKERED ON THE DISTANCE!
Great video thank you!!
Testing casting distance with 40 mph winds is doomed from the start.
😂😂😂😂
And different reels 😅
He has different reels on with different lines there is no way this is right at all !!!!!
Short poles are better for walking through the woods to get to your fishing spot.
wish to have one of that set, hehehehe😅 nice video for us beginners thanks
which rod can reach long shot??
Charlie. Think you could make a video on shortening a rod handle? I have a few I would like to shorten but I’m worried I would ruin the rod.
Maybe also how you balance them.
When i come across another rod i want the handle shortened on i will..
Oh as far as balancing them i just add lead internally before i put the butt cap on.. I'd actually recommend getting the kit that let's you adjust the weight on the end by having a screwed in butt cap that holds washer weights... I do it the cheap way by glueing old bullet sinkers or wheel weights inside the blank.. I just add them in until the rod and reel feel balanced to me and then take them back out and glue back in..
Wat bout my 34 inch 😁😁
No, a longer pole DEFINITELY gets you more distance. Why would long distance casting compilations all use long poles? They even modify them to get the maximum length in turnaments. Why do suff fisherman use long poles? And cat fisherman? They only use short poles on a boat, where they don't need long distance casts. As far as leverage, well you can look athat up. Longer poles does, usually, place the real further, adding some leverage.
Yes if all variables are equal the longer rod will generate more distance.. what I try to explain in why I prefer shorter rods over longer is that the trade-off isn't worth it unless every cast you're making needs to be at maximum distance... Most situations I run into I need more of a precise cast rather than a long cast but when I do need some distance my shorter rod is still capable of casting beyond the hook setting capabilities... That's another point that some people don't consider is that If you do have a longer rod and are making long casts you need to make sure that you have the ability to get a good hook set on the end of the cast or are using a bait that has great hook up ratios
@@bassnbonsai Both have their place. And I mostly fish for catfish. Good point on leverage. But that usually isn't an issue under 100 pounds or so. Hooks eating is better with a long pole. If you pull back on a long pole, your pulling more line. 5 foot pole pulls back 5 feet. A 10 foot pole pulls back 10 feet. But a long rod is more clumsy and usually requires a different technique. Transporting is always a problem. And you have a better chance of breaking the tip when landing the fish. Again, I fish mostly catfish and use 8 to 8 1/2 foot rods.
If it's 7 inch difference it ain't going to mack much of a difference. I think 1 foot difference will matter
@@cleverja 7will some, that's why they make them in 6" increments.
