- BMW M4s are dropping in price, to a point where they could become pretty cheap! Should you buy one? In this video I'll let you know whether I believe this car is a real bargain at around and under £30,000, having lived with one for a couple of weeks!

A week before Christmas I purchased a 2020 M4 cab comp with 6k on the clock in San Marino blue with white ivory leather, loads of carbon & with the bigger brakes👌

Great review JB, really get a sense of what it’s like with the car. I’ve heard much about how little grip they have at the rear and how stiffly they are setup. Guess I gotta go and try one!

Good video, one thing - it weighs around 250 Kg more than the coupe. That is not “slightly more”, it’s a huge amount more.

If there's someone out there looking for a bargain RWD BMW sports car, I hugely recommend the Z4 3.0si. Beautifully balanced, comfy for long journeys with a fantastic manual gearbox and available from around £8k. Basically getting a much more comfortable Z4M for less than half the price 😎

Couldn't have asked for a better time for this video JB, as I'm in the market for a "cheap" M4 or 440i. A 14 plate M4 goes for roughly the same price as a 17/18 plate 440i so I'm stuck on what I should get. M4 definitely the better drivers car, but the 440i will be more suited for somebody like me who lives in a city in constant stop start traffic.... but still, an M4 is an M4 😂😂 Guess it will all come down to the difference in running costs between the two. Personally what would you rather have, JB? Sick content as per usual btw 👊🏾
I would always feel like I had skimped out if I went for the 440i over the M4 - I know they're very similar on performance, but I would see someone in an M4 and think to myself "why didn't I just get the M4" considering the similar price! I didn't get the same feeling regarding the M4 and the Comp, which is a benefit too - so I reckon the M4 is definitely the one to go for!
@@CarsWithJB That's a very good point actually! Main reason why I am considering the 440i is due to the fact that I personally find it a lot nicer sounding than the M4 imho. But I can definitely see looking up to the M4 as like a big brother to the 440i which is can be off putting.
I had the same delima and went M4- if you get a 440, you will regret it every time you see an m4
what do you think of a 440/435i of the same era as a ‘cheaper’ option of the M4? and the potential that it may have when remapped or with other upgrades?
Interestingly the 440i isn't depreciating like the M4 at the moment so there's hardly a price difference. Personally I prefer the engine sound hugely too. Different handling, braking, etc though- along with different running costs.
On an entirely non-objective note, if I see someone in an M4 I instantly assume they're a nobhead, whereas a 440i not so much (although it's still a BMW so...).
M4 is an M car. Just remember that.
@@yg78t76t7 of course, a 440/435 cannot compare to the M4 when stock. however they still have decent power and would potentially be a good start for someone who simply does not yet have the money to pay for, insure, tax and run an M4.

i had an estate c63s 205 and i could get 35mpg on motorway and 25 combined and its emisions are even better than the M4 engine.. I'm swaping my 6 series vert and currently leaning towards the E rather than F but the major engine related problems inherent in the E is puting me off a bit
I was literally JUST looking at manual convertible M4s (Because I’ll DEFINITELY be able to afford one in the future *sighs*)
I have one already F83 M4 white exterior with red leather interior on factory oem 763M’s gold and there’s still nothing I would like to trade for because here in the San Francisco BayArea it hardly ever rains last year it only rained twice and I don’t want a new one because the new ones are ragtop and they don’t make convertible teslas

Depends on a lot of factors, but at 25 I could get into one at around £600!

@@detailingshorts885 and thats why in the US so many people crash hellcats... You cant just start off with 700hp.. apprently the hellcat engines and are the most and probably only reliable engines FCA makes... But you never see them with high mileage because most crash them way before even crossing 50k miles
Ranked by carwow as the 14th most unreliable car of the past 10 years based on warranty claims. My boss had one, and an X6 M after, neither of which did he keep that long.
Really? Can you reference that ranking- I can’t find it and my experience has been the opposite.
Wow I should have got an m4 i get 30mpg in eco mode mostly at best if I careful drive my 435d convertible. 25mpg round town if I thrash it 😅

The hard top convertible M4 vs the new one? I don't really like the leather convertible top , sun and rain could destroy it
Does seem like a bargain, but I suppose the obvious comment is- why are they depreciating so much? Especially when the car market in general is insane at the moment. When I bought my porker last year, I shortlisted the M4 and a cheaper one would have cost me pretty much exactly the same as the 981CS- £30k. Now the M4 is £25k and mine is £35k...I'm not trying to draw any conclusions without researching it, but clearly the market doesn't like these and there's got to be a good reason for that.
All that said, they do look really good in any form. Sound is way worse than an I6 should be (M440i sounds nicer), interior is poor for a car of the price and they have all the wear and reliability issues for BMWs of the era. They're plenty comfy, practical and fun to drive though so overall I feel like they might be the best choice for someone who wants a sports car but needs the rear seats.
But the serious Q is... should I buy an F83 M4, or an E93 M3... Hmmm

30k for a 6 year old car, you will probably want to spend another 5k at least for new tyres, brakes, shocks, bushes, wheel bearings and enjoy your drive :)
