- I look into the Welsh plane crash that became the world's worst air disaster.
I tell the story through visiting where the plane crashed and looking into the lasting impact of the communities affected, lives on today.

Very well done. I grew up in Llantwit Major (now live in US) but remember my dad telling us about this awful disaster.
Thank you for watching this, Helen. Love and best wishes from the Welsh Capital.
As an avid explorer of former WW2 airfields, I have just explored the remains of RAF Llandow and in the course of my research this tragic event came to my attention. Thank you for your excellent presentation of the facts.
Many thanks for watching this. RAF Llandow is quite an uncelebrated and often overlooked airfield so I'm really glad you found interest there too. Diolch!
Thank you for a simple film, my uncle was Andrew Graham who was the flight Engineer and also an experienced pilot, one of the 5 crew whom were all highly experienced former RAF Flightcrew
Thank you for watching this. What a loss it must have been for your family at the time, and even now. I appreciate the comment.
Wonderful video, a family member of mine was on the flight and we still have newspaper clippings and the news report on vhs.
Thank you for watching this. Which family member was yours? What a tragedy and something that will stay with me for a long time.
Another excellent film Chris. The story was sympathetically told and I learnt about an event I had never heard of until now.
Thank you, John! Very much appreciated indeed.
I was fifteen at the time of the crash and remember the sense of shock felt throughout South Wales.
Thank you. Beautifully done.
Thank you for watching.
Excellent video. The story is thoroughly covered and sensitively told. A sad tale, but an important one.
Diolch Wynford, very much appreciated!
I know the area well having spent many of my early years at RAF St Athan. We moved there not long after the air disaster so it was still very uppermost in people's minds. I expect some of the search party we see in the film were from Saints.
The only upside of the disaster is that the pilot managed to guide it down avoiding homes. Such a terrible tragedy though. May they all be resting in eternal peace.
I love all your videos on interesting points about south wales history.
Do you know if there is any remains of the plane or belongings on the plane in something like a museum?
Thanks so much, Robert - I appreciate that! I didn't manage to find any info on what happened to the plane although someone did send me an image of a small part they found in the field it crashed in recently.
Brilliant storytelling, brought to life by the photos & videos used. Loved this, m8.
Diolch, Jamie!
Excellent video Chris. I had heard of it when someone else posted on the Glamorgan History FB group. However, your video covered so much more and in a sensitive and respectful way.
Diolch, Alan! I really appreciate you checking this out and for the kind words.
Very well made video, thank you
Thanks so much for watching!
I had never heard of that. Many thanks.
Thanks, Dafydd!
Superb, very informative. Nice job
Thanks so much for watching this. Very much appreciated indeed!
Another informative video Chris. Well done!
Thanks so much, John!
Superb video. The story was one that I was not familiar with....thanks Chris, brilliant work.
Thanks so much, Neil. I really appreciate you checking this out.
Well done. What a sensitive treatment to a crash I had never heard of before.
A pity that CZcams/Google didn't think to treat the subject with equal sensitivity - they still interrupted the video with unwanted adverts - shame on you CZcams.
Turns out where I live currently and I have most of my life it was 2 miles up from where I live
Nuts what is on the doorstep isn't it. Thanks for watching.
I never heard about this
So sad. When people moan about 'elf n safety' they forget that it's come about because of tragic events such as this
That is very true indeed. It’s so sad that things like this had to happen for people to realise that. Thank you for watching!
My great uncle, air crew, was killed in that crash.
Very sorry to hear that! Thanks for watching this.
Rest in peace
@Chris Lloyd you should change "became the world's worst air disaster" --> "became the world's worst air disaster at the time". The statement is misleading.
It did become the world’s worst air disaster which I then elaborate on halfway through the film, establishing that this title was then redundant and surpassed due to further tragedy’s.
