  • I hate paying for really nice buttons, and I struggle to find ones that I think are exactly perfect. After you've put so much time into knitting a pretty sweater, why settle for buttons that are just okay? This is EASY and not expensive at all. I did link to the materials below! I hope you try it out, because anyone can do it! See you soon! Thanks, I love you! Bye!

    Something else fun you could add to the buttons is tiny metal eyelets/gromets that are made for crafting . It will add just that multi-medium touch to them.

    What a fun project. A long time ago when I was a kid, I made earrings and a pendant out of polymer clay. I always forget about that when I can’t find what I am looking for. Thank you for the reminder

    OMG yes! I don't remember how much I paid for 4 wood circles with holes drilled in them, but at least once I figured out how make a proper buttonhole on the sewing machine, my linen jacket looks 1mil% classier. But I've no qualms about making some polymer cuteness for future endeavors for sure!

    This is so great. Not only did it give an process for making one of a kind buttons for my projects but as you were talking I was wondering if I could use the process to make my own diz. I've been looking online for one that is cool and also has a 2mm hole. Haven't found any with that small of a hole. And then, just after I started thinking about it, you said that you've done a video on making a diz. Trish, you are AWESOME!

    Nice job and I did end up making some while I watched you making yours lol. I'll throw a pic in the group later. I thought about not having any tiny ones for the doll clothes so I made some small ones and a couple bigger ones. I just have white and turquoise. So glad I had duplicates of my cutters to use. Never thought to use them with my clay. I think if others want to look them up they're for fondant. I've used them to make shaped pasta for the kids before lol. Oh girl....THOUGHT!!!!....I saw some silicone flower molds...how cute would those be to press clay into for buttons!?!?

  • @Which-Craft

    Wait, it only took you an hour to embroider Jessica's skirt? That would have taken me a month. But I'm not an experienced embroiderer (that's a word now, already added it to my dictionary). Those are gorgeous buttons, shiny, yay! On the cutters, I used everything from wire covers to pen lids to cut holes for my dizzes - any of that would work for anything you want to cut round, but you were about to say that, weren't you.

    These are so stinking cute! I've been trying to decide what buttons I want for a cardigan I'm currently working on, it's green with colored tweed in it, maybe I should see if pink gold leaf exists and make some of these for that one!
    Do you think I could take a sewing needle and make the holes prior to baking? Not sure if that would work or not.

    • @teripersing
      @teripersing Před 11 měsíci

      I made myself a tool for exactly that. Take a tapestry needle (doesn’t need to be sharp) and make a small handle over the eye of the needle with polymer clay. Then use your new tool for poking holes before curing!

    My church sewing group is makes dresses for Dress a Girl Around the World. We need embellishments and this would be perfect! These dresses are sometimes the only nice dress these girls will ever receive and when they look cared-for they are less a target for abduction by sex traffickers.

  • @kimlyne9700
    @kimlyne9700 Před 11 měsíci

    Is there a reason you drill the holes in instead of putting them in before the button is baked like with the diz?

    • @FiberLoveDiary
      @FiberLoveDiary  Před 11 měsíci

      When I add the holes while the clay is still mooshy, it sometimes creates ridges on the face of the button that I don't really like but it's still a good way to do it
