My college move in day is today !
Since I live 2 1/2 - 3 hrs away from CSUB, we had to leave our home by 4:30 am to be at CSUB before 8 am🤧
Crazy to think I'm going to be alone for a while with out friends and family near me :'((

I just wanted to say thank you! I was so upset about not being able to go to a more “better” school like UCs but thanks to your videos I saw the beauty of just staying local and enjoying campus life !! I will be attending csub at the dorms this year I hope to see you !!

You can go to the library on campus. But honestly just bring your own printer.

I'm currently in a medium room on the csub website, it says it costs $4,500.
I don't actually know the exact cost because my financial covered it last semster so I never got to actually see the price I'd that makes sense.
I reccomend searching up the Cost of Dorming here at CSUB though!!!

@@nocturnalbutterfly2280 I believe you should get more financial aid as the days roll bye. That's what happened to me. I didnt get much at first then as the days rolled by, they added more financial aid!!

Aren't all the classes online?
Well a majority of classes are online but there are a few classes that have to be on campus.
Essentially there are three types of classes: Synchronous, Asynchronous and hybrid

And I found them comfortable. I didnt know anyone who complained about the beds. But I had a friend bring in her own mattress though. So if you really want, you can bring your own mattress :>

I just know for this school year they said we were not going to have a roommate. So it may or may not apply for the next school year as well. I'll probably update you if I have more info on this sitaution

Is this school worth it? I’m really considering it but unsure, because of all the negative things people have to say
In my opinion, you should really ask yourself if this school is the best for your major ? Ya know what I mean? CSUB is known for having good programs and classes for particular majors. So in that aspect, yes. It'll be worth it, education wise!!!
Now if you're only taking in consideration of what's "fun" to do around here...then nothing much. CSUB then seems like its not worth it at first. As much as that statement is in fact true, people around here just need to do their own research to find things to do! I had that same mindset, it felt like there was nothing to do here. Which made me dislike CSUB. But after doing research, it made things fun. Even going to a nursery(for plants) is fun and cute. For sure having a car makes things easier.
Just be open minded!! This school isnt as bad as it seems. Just the county (Bakersfield) has a bad reputation 💀
Idk if that changed your opinion 😭 but I'm also not trying to persuade you. I hope you pick a school that you'll be proud of and content with :)
But if you do decide to come here, then that will also be pretty cool🤩 !!!

Are you allowed to have pets in the dorm?
Yes if your pet : "University policy allows assistance animals and emotional support animals to live with residents in their on-campus housing upon recommendation by the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) and final approval from Student Housing & Residence Life"
So if your pet doesnt fall under that/ you dont get your pet approved before hand, then no pet will be permitted in the dorm if that makes sense :>
How’s the dorm food at CSUB ??
I'm gonna be honest with you, its like a 7.5/10
You'll honestly get sick of it. But I assume that goes for a majority of dorm foods :>
Do you actually get to go in the cafeteria and choose your own food or do they just give you whatever they want ?

So you actually get to go into the cafe. *its really small tbh. I believe in other videos that I have made, I have shown how the cafe looks inside and out ! *
So depending on the day and time, you'll get different food options. For example:
Monday
Breakfast: Grill day (some items you can order are hamburger, grilled cheese, chicken tenders etc.)
Dinner: Chef day (pasta, noodles etc)
If you dont want whatever they're serving, theres always frozen foods you can get, salads, or prepackaged sandwiches!
Also, they tend to shake it up a bit and serve different foods. For example, instead of serving Chef for dinner, they're making a special Korean Sandwich that day.

For personal reasons and mistakenly accepting the school. I didnt know any better about the area.I just assumed it was like an area where I'm from. I just wanted to move far enough on my own lol.
Were u able to choose roomates?
No.
But with covid, you do not have a roommate anways. It's just one person per suite. So currently I'm the only one in my suite.
Hello ! I just wanted to give you an update on the housing situation!
Just in case your considering going here.
I asked an RA what the roommate situation will be this fall and the response was:
"Nope we won't, it would be the same as this year but with more rooms occupied"

@@1234Abc8 hello! So we're gonna have suite mates apparently T T and freshman get whatever room they get. If your lucky, you'll get a single dorm but in most cases you'll be in a suite sharing with another person this year. Last year, most, if not many freshman did not get a single dorm room. If that's what you meant.
And what do you mean options ?? Like do we get a choice to pick which covid vaccine we get or in general required immunizations

From an email I received a long time ago they had mentioned they would update us on the vaccine shots and I’m just wondering if it’s still the same like do we still need to take it ? I know other colleges gave them options on taking it or getting tested every other day so I was wonder if they are doing that or it’s just gonna require us to get the shot ? I’m sorry if I’m confusing you
Lol I’m genuinely curious as to why anyone would choose cal state Bakersfield. Like Bakersfield is literally in the middle of nowhere. Idk lol I’m from LA area and down here the Fresno Bakersfield area isn’t even considered California, it’s a joke😭

I picked this school for a few reasons such as being in good program that's provided to first years, low cost school, its away from my home town etc.

@@The_favorite_Uncle since I had a medium room, housing was roughly 4,500 if I remember correctly.
And your Housing will also be included with your tuition. So each semester (we only have 2) you'll owe something in the beginning of each semester.
For example:
My tuition was around 20k(which includes housing*I believe its labeled as room and board*). Since there is 2 semesters, you'll pay half of that each semester. So in the fall I owed roughly 10k and then again roughly 10k in the spring. Again, that included housing and tuition.

@@mitziguadarrama1123 fss I have more 😭 did u get financial aid and did u do a fafsa. I got a grant and I was told it would be split in half 2 pay 4 fall and spring semester

Also each semester,if there is left over money, itll be returned to you 🤩🤩🤩
