  • We built this box to provide an essential element when it comes to living off-grid. Like most unconventional projects, we ran into some issues which may or may not set us back from moving onto the ranch full time.

Essentials like running water are something you really appreciate when you go without them for a while. I had a similar setup on my old offroad truck with a 12v water pump and water inlet mounted on the truck. A heat exchanger connected to the cooling system gave us hot water while camping. For your setup, adding in a solar water heater for hot water would be a nice way to do it.

Nice!!! We currently have a propane water heater and it’s been good to us so far. For the house I think we will be implementing a lot more solar alternatives.

Man, it is rough watching you guys rough it! Nice to see it go your way after the last few set backs! Hallelujah running water 💦

I recently saw someone making their mounting boards with cutting boards instead of plywood for their pump box, thought it was pretty neat. love the videos keep up the good stuff.

Great idea! We just had this scrap wood from building the cabinetry in our vintage Streamline trailer, and it has stayed dry so far (after the initial hiccup). If we have to rebuild it in the future I’m using your idea!

It’s hard watching when things don’t quite go your way but you don’t let it affect you in a negative way, you’re both so positive and ingenious. Be safe & continue sharing your experience, it’s so much fun to watch! Love you both ❤️

Definitely want a few small drain holes on the bottom of that box. One other thing you could do is add a battery powered water leak alarm inside that box. You can get them for about $5.

I'm assuming it says to ventilate because lead/acid batteries put off a flammable and corrosive gas while charging. Looks like you're using a lithium battery though so you should be good. I'd keep the ventilation holes though cuz a black box in the sun is gonna get hot inside and extreme heat and cold kills batteries. Love watching your videos you guys are living the dream!

My accumulator on my trailer, what we called a pressure tank was 10 gallons I'm not real sure what good that little bitty thing you got is going to date especially when you try to take a shower.

Why couldn’t you have set the well up with a bladder tank and a pressure switch like they usually have and then run a hose to the camper? I’m sure you could figure out how to solar power the well pump if you didn’t want the generator running for the well.

Good question and appreciate the feedback. 🙏🏻🙌🏻We thought about it but figured we would wait until we get closer to the house build. Since it was so cheap it made sense to us as a temporary solution. Rain water catchment and solar powered well pump are in the future. 🤠
