  • Today's update includes the new Trout Pond and Strawberry Trellis. the Solar System continues to run well. We have managed to keep the Greenhouse in the low 90's F on hot days where temperature in Springville exceed 100 F. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

    Good day. I would suggest you keep the water covered or your going to have allot of humidity in the summer . It will creat not only green fungus in the water but it will creat a powder mildew on all your plants. You can use a dehumidifier to your system but you will just be adding more things to go wrong in your green house. Good luck.

    • @yuzzzzuy
      @yuzzzzuy Před 3 lety +1

      @@trailbreakfarms Yeah I suppose it would depend a lot on the needs of the plants themselves. Maybe you could keep the part where the slope changes more or less clear and instead allow the passionfruit to grow along the length of the greenhouse instead. That way a similar area would be covered but the more sun would reach the lower plants, depending on the angle of the sun. Just some thoughts, thanks for the update & I love what you're doing with it.

      yes. Cedar posts are placed deep into ground. Because I have a hard clay soil, I didn't use cement. If you have any kind of a sandy/light soil, you would consider cement. Just sub’d to your channel. It looks like you have a great set up. A couple of questions for you…based on what you said about valuing the shade from some of your trees, do you wish that the greenhouse in the snow design didn’t provide as much overhead sunlight (ie solid roofing on top vs Lexan). Secondly, have you considered doing a grow set up like the Dutch bucket method?

    • @trailbreakfarms
      @trailbreakfarms  Před 3 lety

      I think the "Greenhouse in the Snow" design is a great amount of sunlight. I like the overall design. With any Greenhouse, its important to help it mature with trees and plants which help with the cooling and that takes time. As far a solid roofing - I think you could take a storage container and use LED lighting and other methods for heating and cooling if that were of interest. I have had many recommendations and comments about the Dutch Bucket method. I've thought about trying it out one of these days. Seems like it works great for those who use it.
