Nothing hurt me more growing up then picking this game up when it first came out. I saved my money and picked it up expecting it to be like the first 3 games. This game could’ve been absolutely incredible if they took the Goblet of Fire story and made it in the same style of the first 3. I still hate this game to this day and have never beaten it.

they clearly tried to do something like EA's Lord of the Rings games from 2002 and 2003, but unfortunately the movie isn't about combat and big wars, it's about exploration. They did try to emphasize exploration with the Tri-Wizard shields but it didn't work out. Fortunately they did learn from this mistake and delivered a wonderful exploratory game in Order of the Phoenix in 2007. I actually have a lot of good memories playing this game in multiplayer, but as a single player experience, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. EDIT: also, Ron always going on about beans still makes me laugh

Why would you want local co-op in _this_ game? And besides, who'd want to go through the effort of needing Hamachi or servers like it were the previous three Harry Potter games? Goblet of Fire switches from the Unreal Engine to something else, namely RenderWare (which admittedly was used well in Prisoner of Azkaban's home console adaptation).
It'd be much easier to add the co-op mode to the first two, kind of.

I found your channel while searching for clips of my favorite of the HP PC games, the Chamber of Secrets...and then ended up binge watching all your Harry Potter game reviews ! :D Your vids are amazing!! Love your editing style, the way you review & you have some great comedic timing. This really satisfied my nostalgia for these games. Keep up the great work.
I played all the HP games up to Order of the Phoenix, and would have to say Goblet of Fire was my least favorite. As a kid the most enjoyable part about these games was getting to explore the grounds of Hogwarts, unlocking mysteries & solving puzzles of sorts along the way. GoF was gloomy, creepy, lacked exploration of an open world and had some really difficult mechanics for me as a kid. Especially when I was playing alone trying to get those AI to cooperate and cast the spells with me 😂.
Although I do think GoF was a step down in the franchise, I urge you to check out the next installation in the series, the Order of the Phoenix. I remember Order of the Phoenix being a step up in quality and way more memorable to me than GoF as they once again added castle exploration & secrets that you could collect, this time on a larger scale than ever before. You can access pretty much any part of Hogwarts imaginable with great accuracy to what they show in the films and it makes the game very immersive. Order of the Phoenix was kind of like the best of both worlds for me, bringing together the best parts of their new game design with the most beloved features of the older ones. I highly recommend you check out the Order of the Phoenix if you're bored! (of course nothing can beat the original trio of games tho ! )

The graphics can be quite buggy, so exploring and playing around with it was great fun (e.g. when done right, you don't need to know the growing spell to cross lilypads, you can jump to high places etc.). Also, it came out at a time where a friend of mine started to get into modding, so I have memories about the modded game. A real shame they didn't keep the multiplayer mode later (in open world).

That's kinda the feeling I have for the COS movie above the rest of the HP movies, let me give an explanation: Chris Columbus was the director who kept the movies most like the books. So HP1 was great, but COS was even better, it was still like the book and it was upgraded to an even better movie, the actors evolved as well in the second movie adding to why it was better. That is why I like it above all other HP films 😊😊

As someone that absolutely love the first 3 games to death, I hate this game with a passion. I remember being so disappointed in this when I was a kid back in the day and played this shit for the first time. I also always loved how every platform got its own version. Like the PC and console versions of these games where nothing alike. But now they were just all the same game. This was just non-stop action and the worst part is is that this book and film lends itself so well for a game with all the Trails. But they just turned does into shitty mini like games. The 5th and 6th game where a bit better (still bad, but at least it was free roam again, and it was cool that they fully remade Hogwarts to explore) and the 4th game is still waaaaay better than the 7th and 6th game, but it still sucks imo. I would love it btw if you did a review for the console version of the first 3 games. The 3th game on the ps2 is my fav or these.
PS: the music in these games are one of my fav game scores ever.

I remember I was so excited to get this game since Goblet of Fire was my favorite HP movie at the time. After playing it, I felt it was a huge downgrade compared to Prisoner Of Azkaban prior. A lot of the story elements from the book and film were missing completely and it was lame asf. Back in 2019 was the first time I've played the game in a while. I made a HP Video Game Movie series on my channel which is basically me playing through all the HP games on console and turning them into CZcams Movies. I try to add in some story elements that were missing in the Goblet of Fire game but I did the best I could đŸ€Ł

I think you will enjoy Order of the Phoenix. I did not grew up with that and played it only a year ago, but I really like the many minigames, the explorability of Hogwarts and the many, many, many easter-eggs. The camera can suck a lot, but it is forgivable. Half Blood Prince had a very nice castle as well and a better camera/gameplay, but zero to none explorability, which did suck. After that, the games became FPSrs. Lol.

Order of the Phoenix had minigames? Do you mean the card and gobstones that I never really looked into?
I agree that the castle itself was way better for exploration in OTP cause of the discovery points mechanic, but I liked the introduction of duelling, potions and, for all that it was dumbed down more than ever, Quidditch in HBP.
