Explain plz
I've never gotten over the fact Ireland wasn't included in the game, they literally won the world cup in the books.
You can tell the animators in this game had fun.
France's Team Special Move is also sports-themed, as it is Gymnastics. You try to do a rising double front flip. (I know I can't)
they need to remake this
Yes!!!! đđđđđ
Agreed!!!
If they do Ea canât remake it as they no longer have the license to make Harry Potter games but this game was life back in the day
@@soullessprincess6473 i downloaded today
@@kolakhan1795 Did you purchase it from amazon, or find it somewhere? I'd love to play it again but just don't want to order it from an online store.
I thought this was just a childhood dream. But looking at this I remember. Ahh the nostalgia
I really hope they integrate Quidditch into Hogwarts Legacy. Since the game is set in the mid to late 19th century, we could see some really interesting design choices for each teamâs appearance.
They'll be a fool not to put it in
@@jwn5 So I guess they're fools.
@@ThePreciseClimber it was maybe buggy as hell so they didnât show it at the time. Surely they needed more time to polish it
i mean there are Quidditch uniforms on other students in the trailer plus the Quidditch stadium so i don't see why there wouldn't be Quidditch in the game
You play as a brand new student starting in the 5th year, I doubt you'll have the skills necessary to compete at the school level considering the other players have had 4 plus years learning how to fly
The art style of this game looks EXACTLY like the PS2 Harry Potter games. You should check them out at some point.
Imagine if this game was a bit like FIFA and had updates with new countries and stadiums... even actual teams, maybe? It would've been cool as heck
Also the opening of this game uses a pre-existing classic music tune so you can even use the "this song plays on Quiddich World Cup" line! Truly a complete sports game experience
If this game was like Fifa, you'd also have to fork out 60$ every year for the minor update patch, that conveniently deletes all progress if you do decide to get it.
I played it as late as yesterday on my PS 2 with my 2 11-year-old nephews whom both have become big Harry Potter fan. They love it and I absolutely love it still as well from music, special moves to stadiums!
As I have grown older I would wish they have made more out of this, however there's not much to Fifa either at that time, so I would say it's primarily the genre.
I am sentimental about this game. I loved it so much as a kid. Playing at Hogwarts and then World Cup. Those Stadiums made me so excited. Landscape was awesome
I used to love to play this game when I was a kid on my crappy PC! I'm so glad i found your channel, keep up the great videos!
Hang on. That Horn in the Nordic stadium. Is that the horn from Return of the King when the Rohirrim are about to charge?
"good luck finding anyone that wants to play with you in 2020" cue me desperately digging out my old computer and quidditch copy and forcing my friends to play with me
Little something I noticed while watching and thinking back to when I played: you ever realize that for some of teams the catching sfx were a bit different. Japan's sounded more like a hitting sound in martial arts while USA's had a more subtle sound.
That's super cool, love subtle things like that.
@@PhilOfGlimmer I think the British 1 sounded a bit more like when you kick a ball. Fitting for the soccer (football for you) theme of their special.
Just out of curiosity where are from in the UK? I'm wondering if you're from the London or Hereford area.
When I got this game my parents had to update their graphics cards so I could actually play it. I struggled with the controls, getting all those special moves and combos to work right but it was fun. I think I still have it somewhere... I might give it another go!
This game was a long grind for the collectors card. I remember the last card was Ludo Bagman's which was awarded after collecting those 103 cards.
It's almost a crime that there's no Ireland team which is the only team that made an appearance in the movies
Omg I didn't even notice that but you're so right
It's just stupid that in the goblet of fire, it was actually Ireland that won the WC, but they aren't included in the game
Most of the teams from the actual world cup in the book are not included, Peru, Scotland, Transylvania. It's very annoying
O: need a HD remake of this. Had the original Xbox version was really good.
those stadiums look GORGOUSE
I absolutely love the video essays you make about the HP games! Such an awesome niche community to be apart of!
hell yea japan was the best team. great game, i still play a match or two every few years. would be cool if they made an updated version of it
One fun thing I love to do with this game is to read the books and then see which Quidditch Match comes up (like for example they mention in Prisoner of Azkaban that Gryffindor plays against Hufflepuff) and then play that match myself on this game.
I absolutely loved this game when I was a kid, and I still play it once every few years. I also found it funny, that Ravenclaw was the only team in the game that had a team move that awarded 3 goals, every other team move is 1 or 2.
*picks cho* "hmm, that's understandable" *picks Japan* "I'm noticing a pattern here..."
Omgđđđ I'll pick Harry and England next time just to be extra boring â€ïž đ
LOL was thinking the same thing.
Wow this brings back so many memories! I had this and prisoner of azkaban back during my childhood. While I managed to finish prisoner of azkaban, Quidditch world cup was too complex for me to understand as a kid and I could never manage to play it properly haha. But your video makes me realise that this game had surprisingly more depth than I thought it did! Damn. Great video!
I'm still sore that Ireland wasn't a team.
Dude, how the hell do you not have more subs? Your content is awesome and very well made!
in 2022, i still play this from time to time. its really fun!
This was the first game I ever 100% (or at least I'm pretty sure I got really close) cause I played it obsessively for over a year just to try and beat my cousin in a 2 player match. Haven't played it since like 2005, but boy does hearing the music and the voices bring back memories.
I chose Ravenclaw too at the first time playing this game. It's also my house whenever I take Hogwarts test, not because that I'm so smart but rather my thirst for knowledge is high enough and I don't like to make prejudice toward people I don't know. Ravenclaw team also got the best special move, three goals at once! Wooow!
I don't understand why Bulgaria is portrayed as scary badasses in this game.
I still fondly remember trying to break the game by using the bludgers to reset the snitch timer and finished the game with over 999 points as the scoreboard broke
I used to love playing this game! I got pretty far playing as all the teams but I think I got bored and didnât completely finish. Still was a lot of fun!
Never played this. I had turned my eyes off the screen for a second when I heard Queerditch and was like wot!?
Always Quidditch the most unenjoyable thing about the books so think I'll keep giving this game a pass!
Loved this game when I was a kid
now this is a game i would love see get a remake/remaster
I'm pretty sure all the non-quidditch player characters are just recycled from Chamber of Secrets PS2
Loved this review!! I have so much nostalgia for this game with my brother and I playing it on our GameCube.
imagine if hogwarts legacy sells well, we get a new quiditch game with 7 vs 7 online mode, that would be insane
Omg, I forgot how slow this game actually was. A friend and I found a crack of the game in high school that had the game going at close to 3x the speed. Now THAT was Quidditch.
This game needs a remaster.
This game was my jam as a kid. I have so many great memories of playing it with my mom. â€ïž
tbf good on ea for making a ea sports game based on the hp franchise
Still have this game and still load it up and run through the World Cup every now and again
Man I loved this game as a kid. I think I'll set up my old GameCube tonight
How do you do the special moves on PC?
The blduger +shoot combo doesnt work lol
Great review (as always). đ I only ever managed to play this game the right way only one time in my life (and I played it like 6-7 times). It's actually pretty complex for a Harry Potter game. đ
your videos really evolved :)
much more humor nowadays which I adore
I remember when I first started playing the game years ago, I had serious beginner's luck and kept wiping my nephews.
The fact that you can't lose in this game is kinda big problem for a "sports game", don't you think?
i'm pretty sure you can lose if you play it on hard/if you're bad lol. I just didn't lose cause the difficulty was too easy
You cant lose on the first match in the Hogwarts cup. But you can lose in all the other matches tho. Especially in the hard modes
While difficulty can vary depending of what sport game you play, if you put enough time and are decent enough you can beat any sport game at the highest difficulty without too much trouble.
I acquired this game the other day in a bundle, that's why I'm here watching this video, to see if it's worth keeping in my collection...đđ» And from what I see from it, it appears to be halfway decent...đŻâïž I'll definitely be keeping it...đđŒ
Can someone tell me the actual names of some of the Team Special Moves in this game? Some of them have been listed on various sites and wikis, but they don't even match what they're referred to in the game proper.
A lot of sites refer to the USA move as the Harlem Shuffle, but the co commentators refer to it as what sounds like the "Dinkley Drop" or something (I'm definitely hearing something that starts with d-i-n, but I can't understand it).
The Ravenclaw move I've seen called the Burdish of Raven, but "burdish" isn't even a word. I think Seamus is trying to say ravage (if you listen carefully he starts out the move name with an r), but the accent makes it difficult to understand.
The French move is referred to on sites as the Blitzen Ballet, but it sounds more like the commentators are saying "beaconson" or something like that (idk, I don't know a lot about France).
The rest of the team names, from Bulgaria, Spain and Australia are incomprehensible to me due to the cheering crowds and the differing accents.
If anybody can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it because it's something that's been bugging me for years.
Loved this game, havenât played it in damn near 20 years sadly.
I loved the special move cutscenes, from the Bulgarians just beating the shit out of the opposition team to the American team doing a Basketball style attack(indicating that American witches and wizards have an admiration and enjoy the muggle sport which was a nice touch) should get a remake and expansion
I still love this game, got it back in the day when it released
the only downside is that the teams play all the same except the special team move they are identical and it's pretty repetitive
at lower difficulties you can send out a bludger and just hold the arrow down key and it works about 90% of the time :D
God I had fun with this game back in the day!
I loved this game as a kid, played it to death & it was so great to have Australian representation in a video game. That doesnât happen very often, or like at all.
Good review. I used to play this to death on the GameCube. 3 fully charged passes to your team mates, then shoot the goal. Works every time, against every team. The game wasnât very balanced.
Easy subscribe. Really like your reviews.
Japan's aren;t fortress they're pagodas....religious buildings of worship.
You're right, they definitely look more like pagodas than fortresses
I really loved this game back when I was a kid. My brother and I would play it non-stop...Such peaceful times!
Best review of this game by far!
Despite the characters, story, and setting, this looks like a legit fictional sport game. Looks like it could be fun. Rules and confusing though
Is there a way to play this with a controller on PC? Or could I just do it with a PS2 emulator? I wanna re live this game but dont have my original xbox anymore despite having the disc still :/
I think I used a controller with the pc version, I don't remember if I had to set it up specifically or if it just worked though
the game only really needed proper multiplayer
Guessing you haven't read the books if you didn't know cho was the seeker for Ravenclaw. Its mentioned quite often in the books,
How dare you read me to filth like that đ«Łđ«Łđ«Ł just kidding haha, I have read them but literally not since they came out so my memory was/is very foggy âïž
I remember having fun with this. I was rubbish at catching the snitch though so always ensured I had at least a 160pts lead and in the rare events I caught it I simply won by a massive ammount.
Work smarter not harder đ§
Great reviews, man! When can we expect videos for the rest of the Harry Potter games? ( from fifth game onwards)
Thank you so much, I did actually try number 5 but it kept crashing at one area so we'll see if I end up trying again... I also never played 5 onwards so I'm kinda less inclined to do them, but you never know!
The mere existence of this game is brilliant.
I remember playing this a lot as a kid, but I was very very very sad that Italy wasn't rapresented
Itâs possible to get above a 8 combo because you have to get like a combo 10 for a wizard card
I know itâs been a year but may I know which keys you used? Itâs difficult for me to move around and play the combos lmao
Anyone whoâd helpâd be appreciated, thank you.
Ah I used a controller I'm pretty sure, but I can't remember what does what anymore alas
The question is 'is Quidditch coming home'?
Oh my god
the easiest way to win this game is just do nothing but passing, catch the snitch and you win everytime..
I had no idea that Jeremy Soule did the music for this game before I watched this video.
love this game i still have on ps2
Iâll never understand the cliche about us aussies and surfingđ like I donât think people realise thatâs not australia thatâs like a minority of people in the whole of aystralia
Haha probably because it's one of the countries that's hot enough to go surfing most of the year (I assume). Try coming to England and surfing during January I dare you ;)
They really need to remaster this EA could make a fifa like franchise solely out of this game as long as they can buy the rights from WB to use official names and locations. Really enjoyed my time with this, the japanese bulgarian and nordiic stadiums were just so well designed.
*remake. This game had potential but it was so damn easy. It got boring really fast.
They need a online compatible version for newer consoles i would love to play against others
yesssssss
I would love an online version of this with a full character and team creator etc but knowing modern day EA the game would be riddled and ruined with microtransaction if it were to ever happen
Team Japan all day! đŻđ”đ Also, this game definitely deserves a sequel or a remaster. I think of all of the HP games made, this one is the definition of underrated.
Pretty sure there was a reward in the card area that had a fully fledged trailer for Looney Tunes Back in Action for the console you were playing on, unless I have totally imagined that out of thin air... hmm *goes to dig out my copy of Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup*
I can't believe I never knew about this until now đ¶
There's no close matches, it's usually one side that dominates the other
God what I would give for this game to be backwards compatible.
The main problem with this game is if you pass spam correctly you cant get tackled.
Very interesting. I played game from 1~5 multiple times. But never played this because it was less popular and thus hard to find in my country. However I came to know this game from a cover of an illegal copy of harry Potter 4 CD box. Since then I always wanted to try.
Just make this a mini game in Hogwarts Legacy with updated graphics.
How were you able to play this on PC? I tried downloading it but it never works
Oh that's strange, I'm pretty sure it just worked for me. If it's not working though I would recommend running an emulated console version e.g. PS2 and using PCSX2
For PC, you would also need to make sure you're running a cracked version of the PC game as the CD checking feature is broken so the game won't run with a normal version of the game.
What does this game require to run on windows 10? I want to buy it, but I figure it won't run smoothly first try
It's a pretty old game, I assume it doesn't need anything special to run but I'm not sure
@@PhilOfGlimmer cool! Thanks :)
Video begins one minute in.
You also could wait and the powerbar gets bigger
This game was feckin epic
Quidditch has some bullshit rules
I got this game on my ps3 not long ago and man I canât believe itâs so easy, 10 year old me would lose matches now you can win without catching the snitchđ
I love this game. I play it everytime my cousin comes over, sadly she's better than me.
We need a new game for this it would be big
Japan was the best team, no cap!
A good way to check if anyone played the game a lot is to ask what they think of the Bulgarian grind.
I'm thinking about downloading this again lmao
when a 20 year old game is better than the one they just released lol
That be fighting talk đ€ đ
