      He meant if you wanted a take home Varitey, rather than a cup, you should get the 12 dollar one over the 8 dollar one, cause the 12 dollar one is 3x the ice cream and 2x the toppings of the 8 dollar one, and the 8 dollar one is almost the same as the next smallest size

    Yeah that’s how they trick you into getting the large. They add a medium that’s not worth the price or is too expensive for what you get, so relatively the large seems more worth it. When really, you should just get the small.

    As a T1D that has to estimate carbohydrate amount based on the volume of food, thank you for posting this. I personally think this type of scheme should be considered illegal because many T1Ds can miscount carb/sugar amounts because we are being mislead in thinking we are getting more carb intake with a bigger cup. If a T1D takes too much insulin because they were misled to thinking they were ingesting way more carbohydrates they could experience a hypoglycemic episode and or seizure, which can be dangerous depending on how fast paramedics can get to the T1D. I know this wasn't your intention but this is helpful information for those of us who have to navigate the world differently than the able bodied person.

      As a T1D who’s been diabetic for 10 years everytime I go out to eat I just google what I’m eating it’s all online. I don’t think this should be illegal when the information for any and every fast food chain and most chain restaurants have their nutritional facts posted online.
      Furthermore when you’re a T1D you should know eating out isn’t the best option anyways but if you insist on doing it you should be able to look at most servings of food and guesstimate how many carbs are in it. You should know how to use the knuckle, finger, fist, palm technique because nobody is more responsible for your health than you.

    • @erinramsay9914
      @erinramsay9914 Před 2 lety

      @@Luciifer1987 Yeah. I'm going on my 15year. I disagree to a degree. Of course, I take responsibility for my health but not every T1D has access to technology like many majority groups might. I simply find the practice misleading, which I why I valued the enlightenment. I was merely thinking about those who don't have ready access to nutrients labels and such because I remember being 8 yrs old and having no nutritional reference because it wasn't considered a big deal. I carried a CalorieKing book in my bag for years until nutritional info became mainstream and smart phones entered the middle class market. Not looking to place blame anywhere. I just think it's misleading for those who don't have access to certain tech or are just starting their journey with this chronic illness. There will always be lots of guessing in this chronic illness, even when we eat at home unless you weigh everything on a scale. If you want the most accurate carb count, we need to count by weight and not by volume (hand, palm, finger, etc) method. I see your point though.

  • @3li3lite42
    @3li3lite42 Před 3 lety +9

    This is actually a scheme for companies to make people buy the larger sizes of things. They make a small size and a size that is around the same size yet happens to have more higher price than the small size. So with that, they make a big size that is only a bit more than the medium size which is an easy way for companies to get more out of it. But it's smart and it's not an "evil scheme" since you're still getting a bigger size still of whatever you're getting!

    • @Cirbii
      @Cirbii Před 3 lety +1

      It’s not a plot twist because that’s actually what’s going on. Companies trick you into buying the larger more expensive one by making you think You’re getting more out of your money than you would by getting the overpriced smaller medium size

    They want you to know that the medium cone isn’t much larger than the small one, so you would buy the large one.

  • @HillbillyYEEHAA
    @HillbillyYEEHAA Před 3 lety +1

    Companies do that deliberately so you buy the larger one. I can't remember the name for it but it's where they use a decoy size because they know you'll look at it and get the next one up

  • @goldiea8598
    @goldiea8598 Před 3 lety +1

    It's actually a marketing tactic. They have a middle one to make the bigger one look better in value compared to the middle one and let customers decide on a large thinking they're saving money.

  • @XxFluffyxX

    But they'd never fill the cup to the brim with ice cream. Like you said, there has to be room for toppings. With that taken into account, the pint is fine for what it is

    This is called the decoy method. You have two sizes, a small and a large, and a medium which is the same size or near the same size as the small, just different dimensions to make it look bigger. The company does not want you to buy the medium, they want you to sink the extra 3 dollars to get the large.

    That's actually a marketing trick. Make your large $9, the small $3 and a medium $8. In your brain there is only $1 difference between the large and medium, so most people order the large since they think it's a massive saving. Most profits are made on large items and the small items are often sold at cost.

  • @LadySsS69
    @LadySsS69 Před 2 lety

    That's actually a corporate gimmick so people seen something similar in anther video they offer a middle size so it looks like the consumer had options but in reality usually the first two sizes have the same capacity. Glad he showed this.

    I learned this In class. They use the middle price to make you buy the most expensive one because in your mind it’s not that bad. But if you subtract the middle price and have only the small one and the big one you’d think the big one is too much. The middle price is a decoy

    This is a marketing technique used by many big companies, they put a small amount and medium which is just a bit bigger than the small and a large which is far more bigger than the medium and small. T is done to make people who dont want a small ice cream buy a big one rather than a medium one cause medium is just a bit more and a large is a lot more.
