Yeah that’s how they trick you into getting the large. They add a medium that’s not worth the price or is too expensive for what you get, so relatively the large seems more worth it. When really, you should just get the small.
Almost every company uses this model. They never expect people to buy the mid-tier item so they make it unappealing so you're more likely to go for the large.
Fun fact: Fast food type restaurants only had small and large size cups(fries, ice cream, etc) They made a medium size close to the size and price of the small one to make the large size look good It worked amazingly
I used to work at Dairy Queen. The large is the same volume of the medium just the large is much taller and skinnier. But you're paying three dollars extra for the same thing
That's a bingo! This guy is paid handsomely by Cold Stone to promote their product. No way is he going to be handing out "secrets" that would hurt their revenue.
Used to work in an upscale restaurant with $40 appetizers to give you an idea on the pricing. We offered a bowl of soup as an entree and a cup of soup as a side for half the price. The cup held more soup. And if you were asked to split the cup, theyd make you add more so you basically gave them 1.5 bowls worth for +50% off.
Buddy. Measure 16oz of water and pour it into the pint. That little amount of empty space is actually 4oz. It’s the widest part of the cup so it can look deceiving
The middle option is what you're not supposed to get, it works like this in every store/fast food chain. It's just there to make cost of the large size seem more acceptable, since "it's only 50 cents or a dollar more"
This is a psychological trick a lot of businesses do. They have a size overpriced, so people can actually get the size above it for a few dollars more.
Also like you don't need a large amount of ice cream. But that's also why they call the best size for you "kids" (so some variation), because you'll think, "I'm an adult!"
Cold Stones is like Five Guys they always over fill the cup anyways. Only time I didn’t get my cup filled was when they had someone from another country working there. She made me realize how greedy we are as Americans lol.
The cold stone by us sold the "mine" size for 50 cents more, but it came with an extra topping which is normally a dollar, so it was a better deal if you wanted that extra topping. Then they changed the price increase to 2 dollars and it stopped being worth it 😂
This is a marketing strategy used they don’t actually want you to but the medium sized one they just don’t want you comparing a 4 cup to 8 dollar cup so they put something in the middle
