EDIT: Correction to the video: at 13:40 I claim that I encountered an audio bug that indicated that NBA Live 10 & Elite 11 use the same engine. While I still don't know if that claim is true, the audio issue was actually my capture card & splitter setup not agreeing with Dolby Digital audio-- disabling it in PS3 settings fixes this issue.

Asphalt 5 had an epic intro, so did asphalt 4. Had lots of fun playing them on my dads phone
This game had to compete against NBA 2k11. Arguably the greatest basketball sim ever. No surprise EA pulled this one.
It's still my favorite to this day. Both 2k11 and 12 were fantastic! The way the presentation changed depending on the era was something games don't still do today.
Run & Gun 2? Hangtime? Jam? Shootout? In The Zone? Street? I think the only 2K game I remember enjoying was 2K3.
Stopped playing alot of bball games after that.
@@fawkkyutuu8851 None of those are sims. Those are fast paced, over the top and unrealistic basketball games. Their purpose is to entertain and not to replicate real basketball.

Only NBA game ive ever gotten into was NBA 08, not live 08, or 2k08 or whatever it was, but the sony developed "simulation" game. Loved the graphics for the time and i thought it felt really fluid, i got 2k13 when that was free years back and it didnt feel right. Ended up firing up the ps3

Proppeler Arena on Dreamcast comes to mind, though I don´t know if retail copies ever made it into the wild because as far as I know the only reason it is available today is because a developer leaked it.

The Half Priced books by me has a PS2 copy of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for a little over $100. I know why it’s worth a lot (it’s Silent Hill), but why is the worst version of the game more expensive than the best version on the Wii?

Ea sports games should adopt the same control concept as "session" or SkaterXL. Beginner layout uses face buttons and ai to complete actions, while expert uses difficult control sticks for hard to master yet more precise movements. -I know this is completely off topic for the video but I guess it's become the main discussion point lol.

Wait, so NBA Elite basically just invented what the Pro Stick is in modern 2K? That's kinda funny. Ultimately it seems basketball game fans adopted a similar play style anyway with many players almost exclusively using the stick to do everything but pass

This was going to come out at the tail-end of Fight Night, which is probably the bigger influence for the analog stick controls. Ironically, the last two FN games focused more on using the buttons rather than flicking the stick compared to the first 3 games.

If I was going to speculate, I'd suggest they pulled Elite to spare some blushes with the NBA. 2K was the clear market leader and maybe they thought putting out a broken one would result in them losing the license? Although they would've probably had years on that deal.

I worked for a Game Stop competitor a few years ago, and I can't tell you how much I wish I'd grabbed some of these when they were inexpensive... Not because I really care to collect something like, say, Afrika, but I'd love to be able to turn around and sell them to a collector.
The rarest PS3 game I own is probably 3D Dot Heroes... Atlus games tend to appreciate, but I don't know if that one will.
3D Dot Game Heroes’s pricing is all over the place on eBay. Loose, it goes for about $30-$40, but complete is going anywhere between $70-$200. It got a bit of a price hike not too long ago when Sony was threatening to shut down the PS3 store. But prices seem to have mellowed out a bit. I would say hang onto for now. Unfortunately, the PS3 store won’t last forever and when it does shutdown, I expect the price to shoot back up again.
@@Ckoz2829 My policy when I worked at the store was I had to actually be interested in playing something to buy it, not just think it might be worth money some day. (I wasn't making enough money working retail to be making speculative purchases, lol) Afrika, um, didn't make the list. ;)

My friend actually really likes the newer NBA Live games, but I strongly prefer 2K because Live is still in the PS2 era when it comes to franchise mode. Hopefully Live comes back just so 2K gets some competition.

Natsume didn't even publish Afrika is Japan. It was a first party Sony published game that Sony just didn't want to release in the west. Kinda like how Atlus published Demon Souls because SCEA didn't want it.

Triple Jump is a great. A bit like Gameranx, but still a nice channel. Ben Potters vids are a highlight for me :)
It’s worth noting that the jump in prices for games has more to do with the recent second hand bubble that has started. There’s a really good video about it on Karl Jobst’s channel. It basically goes into how a handful of resellers are inflating the prices of older games to try and turn a significant profit on them before the bubble bursts and they become worthless later. I have a feeling this is a big reason that Gamecube titles are inflating in price specifically wheras PS2 and Xbox games aren’t. (Despite the Gamecube being extremely easy to emulate whereas the Xbox isn’t. )
I think the common reasoning being that the Gamecube is a nostalgic console it still sold the worst at the time and many of its best games are on other systems. I also think the Dreamcast would get a big resale bubble for this reason but it doesn’t. I often see them stacked in a corner at a game store and the games are usually sold in bulk.
The Sega fanboy in me says it's because there's a lot of Nintendrones to sell to and that Sega doesn't get the respect that they deserve, but then I remember the prices of Saturn games and suddenly I'm perfectly fine with people staying out of the retro Sega market.
