The smoke didn't take away from the beauty of the sun shining on and through the trees and sparkling water. If I was there I would quickly convert to a tree hugger and hug one of the many trees to thank them for taking in all the CO2 & CO to give us back O2. Oops my nerd came out. 🤓 Thank goodness for cabin filters in our vehicles. Take care Russ and thank you for another beautiful drive. 💞👍

Thanks so much for the wonderful trip! Such a beautiful drive, even with the smoke! Loved the Native American art, too.

Sorry you got smoked out, Russ. This is my favorite time of year in the Pacific NW.

Russ, stop worrying about the smoke, the sun is orange down here too and pushing 110 through the end of the month so enjoy the cool temps and the pine trees and be in no hurry to get back to Quartzsite.

I am so sad that the smoke has gotten so bad. I heard that the smoke from all the fires from CA, OR, WA, and CO have made it over to European countries. Isn't that amazing that smoke can go that far!!!! Thanks for taking me along of this journey. Stay safe and happy adventuring

All of hwy 20 was beautiful and glad you made it across before the smoke hit. Looking forward to your third time being the charm for you without smoke along hwy 101 in your possible next journey up here again.

I grew up in Port Townsend. Moved out a lil past hwy 20 where 101 crosses 104. Lived there for almost 30 yrs and now reside 20 miles further in sequim. You bipassed it by staying on the hwy. Its before Port Angeles. Anyway it was fun to watch your video and listen to your commentary of our community. Save wheeling to you.

🙋‍♀️Hello Russ! That city bus was a shocker. Looked longer then the ones I remember riuding when I worked in Pittsburgh, Pa. many years ago. Olympic National Park is a very beautiful place. You can see it is through all the smoke. Hope the rest of your day is nice.👍

The thing that viewers don't realize is that the smoke, haze, ash, fog, etc is even worse when it's in person. Looking at it like this it doesn't look too bad but it's worse than you can imagine. We tried to take pictures of our area to send to family & you really can't capture just how bad it is when you look at it or have to breathe it.

My husband and his brother discovered a historic car wreckage in Lk. Crescent a few years ago. They found it while they were scuba diving, solving a very old mystery of many decades. It is a very deep and cold lake with steep shores falling from that road you were driving on. Too bad about the smoke destroying the spectacular view from the lodge. Aw, too bad. Looks like you'll have to come back to the evergreen state, AGAIN! (yay!)

I hope you were wearing a mask while you were there (not because of Covid) but because of the smoke. My sister in Seattle said they had to wear a mask when they were outside because the smoke was so bad. It was even worse down in Hoquiam/Aberdeen area where my other sister lives.

I get a kick out of you saying "Oh yay, look there's water". As a resident of S.W. Washington I see water everywhere, from what I can gather, you live in Arizona. I would get excited about water too. Love your content, and positive attitude. Your journey is bringing back awesome childhood memories. Thank you, and btw the weather has pushed the smoke out down here.

When you get to CA & you can swing W to Hwy 1 along the coast, I'd go thay way instead of taking 101 on S so you can miss some of the smoke. + scenery is beautiful that way.
