One of the best tracks on the album, in my opinion. This , Dark Passenger, and Codex are on completely different levels from the rest of the songs on here.
So much energy, it just keeps going and going. Saw these guys play this live back in the day, back when Brandon was there. He made VOM what it was, imo. They sound just as great live, which huge. So many bands have top notch production, but are terrible live. Not these fellas. AAL and BTBAM are the same. Incredible musicians, all of them
This band went from one of the most groundbreaking things I'd ever heard to a footnote personally. Oh well, I'll still always love this album and annoy people who hate things that sound "core"ish with it though. XD
Yeah yeah,foonotes….. as a guitarist that loves to learn their songs, I can tell you are soooooo wrong, pls do yourself a favor and actually listen to them, but more than 10 seconds please or maybe u need a link with the partiture or tablatures of their songs
@@alexandergonzalezhernandez5030 I saw them live around the time i posted this my guy. Im not talking about skill, im talking about sound. Im sure the newer stuff is more challenging and fun to play as a musician bur it was boring and pandery for me.
+jacob duffneyre How do you people even maintain a music collection? Either you're rich, you have literally no other interests you might spend money on, or you pretty much don't. Or you can 'pirate', lol. Any self-respecting artist would much rather have you hear their music for free than not at all because you can't afford it. If they don't, they don't deserve being payed for their art in the first place.
I said "any self-respecting artist". If people really like your album, they'll buy it. Expecting people to pay money for something they haven't fully heard yet is crazy, don't you think? This song happens to be from one of my favourite albums, and I'm definitely going to buy it if I ever come across it. But if you send me a band I don't know, and I want to check out a couple of their albums? No, I'm not going to pay MONEY for their material I don't even know whether I like yet, are you crazy? And I'm also not going to spend hours sitting in front of a PC for it; that shit is going to my mp3 player. Besides, how old are you? Most bands nowadays (those who aren't deluded) really don't expect their money to come from album sales anymore, and focus on merchandise and concert tickets. It was probably different in your day, but the whole "pirating" thing really isn't as much of a problem as older generations think. The idea of making something that is meant to be art, and then going "Hey, you think I'm doing this just for the art? We all gotta eat" just seems so pathetic and off-putting. Like, how sad is your life if you would complain that you should receive payment because someone enjoyed something you created? Sometimes I wonder if, as you say, I'll change my mind once I start putting more effort in my own music project. But I doubt it. I would probably immediately stop having any wish or motivation to write music as soon as I start viewing it as a possible source of income. (Sorry for clunky English, I'm really tired which makes me bad at languages)
You guys are being way too sensitive. There are plenty of simple chord progressions that are easy when played slowly but hard when you bring the tempo up to like 120-up. I love this band too, they are incredible, but no need to be one of those tight-ass metal elitist douches.
Ya man, i am struggling for months now to learn it properly (still stagnating because of the one sweep) but imagine coming up with this kind of stuff, unreal...
I agree veil has one of the best guitarist and thats cause of the chord voicings he finds. plus i love how he is like oh im in drop d oh power chord boring let me stack it and then do barred chords :)
anyone else act out the song as you were listening to the lyrics. i knew if someone saw me they would think i was disturbed or something but dang man that was freaking epic wish you guys could share that feeling with me... truly and epic song to act out xD
just because it isn't boring and predictable does not mean it is a jumbled mass of sound. There is a rhythm and melody, its obviously just too complex for you to grasp.
i laughed hard at this comment because the haarp machine part is 100% completely true. so excited to get the album, i get it and i wasnt completely sold on the rest of the material.
just to make you aware, labels have to make money, and its because of the scene bands that sumerian gain more money, therefore are able to sign more good bands, its the way a lot of record labels work nowadays so they can make a living out of it
HOLY FUCKING SHIT U LISTEN THIS BAND MORE THAN I DO AND I LISTEN IT EVERY DAY FOR 2 TIMES FOR 1 MONTH AND MY ITUNES SAY THAN I HAVE LISTEN IT 4422 TIMES
Does this band still go heavy like this? 1:36? This and we bow in its aura are what I consider veil of Maya. What tracks should I listened to since? The vocals are so demonic!!! 143
@Splooie128 if this was namaste, then they would call it namaste when they play it live, but they call it mowgli when they play it live; so its obviously mowgli.
@XxboxandmetalX It's metal. It doesn't matter the subgenre. I guess technically it's "progressive deathcore", but it's not your typical deathcore like Chelsea Grin or something.
This album has helped me through so many dark times it's unreal
fuck yes, amen brother
Damn rite brother.well said
Even infinity war
X4
The songs on this album really channel a deep, basic feeling of of determination and desire to be better and more.
This entire album will forever be timeless to me! Im so glad I have it on vinyl!
This chord progression is easily my favorite to play on guitar over everything else
New VOM fans won’t find us here.
Hello
Lol 😝
well found you ahah, i admit i prefer the newer sound but this riff is so fucking good
i just came to see if people still listen this :)
Bet.
HEY LOOK.. when Sumarian was Sumarian!!!!
it was never sumarian it's sumerian
@@shaneguerin2024 lol
It's funny how this message is 3years old and it's even worse now🤣😂😅
LOL. Well this comment held up well. That new song they released today was absolute trash.
HEY LOOK, no one gives a shit
goddamn that jungle book kid goes hard!
LMAO
LMAO
One of the best tracks on the album, in my opinion. This , Dark Passenger, and Codex are on completely different levels from the rest of the songs on here.
The entire album is on a different level haha
Yes, the entire album is on a different level from the rest of the album.
Wait, don't I know you from somewhere?
No love for namaste?
marc okubo, one of the best metal guitarists of the new decade
That main riff's chord progression is so fucking good, dude. Still prob my favorite chord-heavy riff in a metal song next to All New Materials
Happy Guy is that you
I can't stop jumping from one treetop to another when this song is on
My favorite guitarists: Marc Okumbo, Misha Mansoor, Tosin Abasi, The legendary JIM ROOT and Jason Richardson
"sleep burns my eyes" I fucking love that line!
That part starting at 2:02 is my favorite Veil of Maya riff ever.
Fucking right i feel like everyone overlooks it
It's ridiculous.
ASenseOfClarity fuck yes
Absolutely ridiculous
I always loved it too
This has to be one of my favorite songs of all time.
Same here, Mowgli is a very special song! Learning on guitar right now :)
@@Georgiyantyufeyev I've tried lol about 1:50 it becomes a bitch
I love that main chord progression..

AAL and BTBAM are the same. Incredible musicians, all of them
AAL is CHON upgraded with more prog
My fav song by them, always was, always will be
the riffs in this song kick ass. and i feel like this is one of the only veil of maya songs where you can hear the bass. This song just flows
This song is masterpiece.
one of the best breakdowns in my opinion
I love this album is so much balls
Lol
So beautiful and grimy at the same time. Love this!
this used to be one of my fave songs from this album...
holy shit this is one of the best VoM songs ever
Favorite song by them besides We Bow In Its Aura
I think the White Walls solo proves, that he is :) Check out Wardingham, he writes some really tasty licks!
i wish Sam would do a drum playthrough of this one... one of my favorite songs by them
ive been listening to this band for about 1 month a half and i love them. but according to my itunes, ive listened to this song 4532 times.
I still listen to this song via CZcams at least thirty times a day and via iPod thirty times a day. Why is this song so magical?
This band went from one of the most groundbreaking things I'd ever heard to a footnote personally.
Oh well, I'll still always love this album and annoy people who hate things that sound "core"ish with it though. XD
Man veil of maya used to be my shit it's a shame the music they make just kinda sounds bland now but thats what happens with most metal bands nowadays

I used to whistle this song all the time on the way to work.
Lol
@@nalamanonixservices3275 To be more specific, the guitar riff at the start of the song is what I used to whistle.
Beautiful guitar and drum mix in the intro, great timing and vocal intro
Such a marvelous piece of art
wow I had this song titled "Namaste" on my mp3 this whole time and I come to find out its "mowgli"
Metalengaged Hey me too! Although I found it out quite a while ago already...

277,000 views? Ive watched this 277,000 times on each device. I go through a phone every 2 months. For like 10 years. CZcams your shorting out homies.
Fantastic riffs and voicings, unusual and organic sounds. What's not to love? No more questions.
It's true. I'm going to guess I've listened to it 30,000 times now.
i love how the song starts with guitar then the drums and its perfect how it all comes together
Personal favorite album they have : great for listening while working
This fucking opening.. too good to be true.
i can play it, not as fast as the actual song, but it's a very simple part.
riceboy287 how do you justify it as being simple if you cant play it upto speed
metalshred11 Good point ;)

riceboy287 The begining point was not about how complicated the opening is, but how good it is.
Such an incredible song.
Greatest bass scale work ive heard in a long time
What a fucking great guitarist Marc is.

Faaaavorite Veil Of Maya song.
This will always be my favorite VOM song. New album is dope though!
Miss this masterpiece
i think it's great that their record label is uploading their songs here
Barely over 300 hits in over almost 15 years... This tells me everything I need to know about humans.
Per Nilsson, Paul Wardingham, Paul Waggoner... There´s plenty of them. It´s all about the phrasing, that makes each one unique :)
the greatest band ever
Yes. Love Sumerian. Ty!
Misha isn't the fastest, but he can write some amazing things and play them perfectly. He is that good in different aspects.
Such a dope track from an awesome band!! #VeilOfMaya!
love you guys, this is one of my favorite tracks of all time still
The bass arpeggio is lovely Danny is an extremely talented bassist
Devon Boes Danny Hauser wasnt their bassist when this album was recorded, but you’re still right: hes great and so is that bassline
anyone else act out the song as you were listening to the lyrics. i knew if someone saw me they would think i was disturbed or something but dang man that was freaking epic wish you guys could share that feeling with me... truly and epic song to act out xD
geez this band plays around with some funky chords, dig it
He is a technical genius. that is all carry on =]
This song is so hecking good
hes one of the best song writers
definately the best song on the the album. so god damn good \m/
My favorite!
This song is so good
There's no "meh" songs on Disclosure. That album is a masterpiece.
Still one of the craziest breakdowns ever. 01:22
This song is so particular... The guitar is just insane and there's a kind of strange logic in this music that seems so crazy. So fuckin' epic !
just because it isn't boring and predictable does not mean it is a jumbled mass of sound. There is a rhythm and melody, its obviously just too complex for you to grasp.
in my opinion, the best goddam song on the album. fuck yeah!
It's a spinoff riff from VOM EP. Song is called The Uprising. Kick ass instrumental.

Amazing rhythm and chord voicing choices
Lol, one of the best metal guitarists.
he actually is far better. there's not a single guitarist who can play the hardest legatos and licks as fast and clean as he does.
summerian records i love you.. I REALLY DO!!
Marc Okubo literal genius
Muhammad Suicmez?
At the age of 18, he wrote the solo of Fremented Offal Discharge, not to mention the enitre album by himself
love this song!
Paul Waggoner :) There´s plenty of them, Nilsson, Wardingham, Loomis, Merrow... We just need to show them all out support!
One does not simply play one Veil of Maya guitar part. Managing loopers is a skill within itself as far as I concerned.
There is no such thing as this "best Veil of Maya song" theory
this deserves top comment
Love this song
Hes a God, don't question him.

Paul Wardingham and lots of others. Marc still rules.

April 26, 2022 Am I the only one still playing this song?!
Marc’s chord choices in this song are fucking ridiculous. I’ve always loved how colorful they are❤️
considering he plays both guitar roles by himself i'd say he's arguably the best
