    If you are carefull you can hook the cables on the throttle pulley with a long screwdriver without taking airboks off.. 😃😃 Just pull on the cruise control cable, to turn the throttle.. 😁😁

    Excellent video. I’m having my cables changed tomorrow. 2000 LT.

    Great Video. My throttle was sticking. Thinking it was an issue with the cables and lubrication. Just got done taking it apart. Found that the grip itself was sticking. Couple of hits with some oil took care of the problem. I will still lube the cables since I've gone the far. I would suggest that if sticking is a problem, first squirt some penetrating oil between the grip and the housing and see if it loosens up. Might save you some time a a lengthy repair.

    It's incredible, but all the maintenance servicing of the LT is always a Great job, you have to do it at home if you have conditions like I do with mine.

    when I got my 2002 LT, the throttle cables were very sticky although they look like they were in good condition. I didn't see any frayed cables. I replace them with the upgraded throttle cables from BMW and what a huge difference. This should be a standard fix for any earlier LT

    thank you so much for the video, I am looking forward to doing this job. however, I did get confused a bit, you said you needed to make some adjustments by the handle bar, is it because the green wire was not letting the throttle bodies come all the way back down? so you used a wrench on the green cable by the handlebar to loose it a bit? I just really dont want to get stuck there. thank you

    That "as usual" step is mentally the hardest step to get past. My cruise control stops working when the temperature goes into the low 40s. I read that it might be a throttle cable adjustment. I'm open to suggestions to fixing the problem.

    Hi Kirk I wonder if there is an easy way to lubricate the original cables to extend their life. Great tutorial thanks.

    • @johnherrera1322
      @johnherrera1322 Před 5 lety +1

      Never never lubricate modern-day cables they will lock up and break just like Kirk's cable did because he lubricated them there is a sleeve inside all modern cables that's self lubricates don't try to put anything in there

      @@johnherrera1322 Hi John I'll take your advice thanks and won't try to lubricate the cables. It might be something other than my cables to get that throttle to snap back and could be lack of use. what are your thoughts?

      Hey Mark try taking your throttle off The Handlebar clean the inside of the throttle tube and The Handlebar really really good and just put just a dab just a tiny dab of waterproof grease on The Handlebar put it all back together and she made work just fine

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  Před 2 lety

      L'interruttore dell'indicatore potrebbe essere danneggiato. È quello tondo accanto al cilindro slave. È necessario rimuovere il forcellone per arrivarci.

    Hi have a k1200 GT with the flat 4 K motor... I have a cruise control issue and the shop up here in Canada went through the test procedure and it failed the test always when it came to the throttle cable Area. It seems to me like My throttle cables might be a little on the rigid side is it makes my risk tired but I had a intermittent cruise control functioning for a time and quit totally altogether. Is this a cable issue only or it was suggested that there's a switch in a general area with a short cable on it That could possibly be part of my problem but was never diagnosed ? Can you help me Determine What the next step is ? Rob 204 880 2475
