Brother I just did your method and I couldn't be more happier my yoyo were acting like a Responsive yoyo now that I cleaned then and made your thin lube wow worked like a charm and spins like crazy
This video came right on time. Been playing the crap out of my first unresponsive and it's definitely not playing like it was when I got it less than a week ago. Thank you!!!
Yes! This video was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for making these vids man I have found them super helpful. And it wasn't lost on me that the tattoo'd guy would rather be poked by a needle than cut by a knife lol imagine that! Pure awesomeness have a great day man!
Thanks for the content. It's informative and your personal additions are good remarks. I do have some questions: 1. Why do we use thin lube (or any dissolved lube) in oppose to just pure lube? 2. Why do we have to apply the thin lube in very minimal manner (by using a pin as shown) instead of just soaking the whole bearing with lube?
Because your yoyo will become responsive if lube is too thick. And you don't put alot cause then it gets all over your string and ruins it. It also makes everything gunk up. Alot of people run their bearings totally dry
Of course! Throw ALL the bearings that you want to clean together into one container with enough of whatever solvent you decide to use. I make sure to use enough solvent so that all the bearings are submerged.. Instead of using a shot glass like Dylan used in the video, I like to use a container that has a lid so I can shake the shit out of it to make sure that all the bearings are 100% clean.
Some thing to add maybe, how often should we maintain / clean our bearings? I know this is variable and comes down to how often you play, is it very dusty or do you have pet hairs flying around etc. but I heard some people do this every couple of days and it seemed a bit excessive to me.
Dylan Your yo-yo currently unavailable.. this worked for my Duncan free hand problem. I put “unresponsive lube” (from yo-yo tricks dot com), the yo-yo 🪀 stopped sleeping so much and became responsive! I Used girlfriends nail polish remover (100% acetone) pencil and air compressors! And A tiny drop of “responsive lube” air compressor again set bearing on piece paper... Whooo hoo crazy it’s working again. Thx
I need help i have unreponsive yoyo in my bearing stuck i bought loop oil by mistake didnt get spin oil can i use a tiny bit of loop oil then acetone the bearing in still come out unreponsive ?
After spending about 15 minutes trying to deshield my bearing, I realized I was pushing on the wrong side of the C-clip. On one side of the opening there's a squared off end to the clip; at the other, it's at an angle and looks like it's pushing into the outer ring of the bearing. You want to slide the pin under the latter. Maybe I'm an idiot, but hopefully this helps someone else.
Do you have to put the bearing in the mineral spirits? Can we skip that and apply the lube to the bearing, and if you do put the bearing in the mineral spirits what are the benefits to that
Strings do play a big part, but what about your yoyo sucks? Can you be more specific? This way I might be able to give you a better advise to what you can try to improve it.
@@garymitchell9152 Sounds like the response is to strong, a thinner string might help but I think the butterfly xt has some limitations like Dylan mentioned in his review: czcams.com/video/r0Yn4QkZ_jA/video.html
I threw a Zipline Prestige on my Butterfly XT and it definitely improved my experience. I kept having trouble with it coming back in the middle of tricks, though, so just bit the bullet and got an unresponsive. Having a lot more fun now.
I have made this and it def works great. But I'm curious cuz mine evaporated. Does this happen over time or possibly I may have not stored it correctly or had a tight enough cap on it
this is the best im not kinding i mean the best instructional video ever, he explained it in like every circumstance

I also find that when you remove the shields, you should grip the pin as close to the end as possible. It helps a lot. Great video as always!
This shit right here.. Thanks. I had no idea I could make my own thin lube.
Pro tip: don't use a knife to take off the shield, I sliced my finger really bad.
I feel bad

@@fence1667 but LEMON used a knife anyway

You may be the first person to use blood as yoyo lube how do you feel.
I'm just getting started in this yo-yo thing. Going in the garage to see what I got available! Thanks.

Can you mix the 3 in 1 with lighter fluid or just the Mineral spirit
Thanks dude, I was about to shit can this bearing but I ripped the shields off and cleaned it of rust and plays well now

Crazy question can you use nail polish acetone as a lube solvent??
Can you mix 3in 1 oil with acetone???
Can I use baby oil for lube for unresponsive or is it too thick
Can you clean more than 1 bearing at a time

You should only really clean if it is responsive, makes a loud noise ,or has something in the bearing that stops it from spinning
@@randomkidwholikedthisonech3964 actually you should clean a bearing maybe every month UwU
Can you put two bearings in the thing
I've seen people use 90%+ isopropyl alcohol, does it work as well
thats what I use and it's never failed me
as a solvent?
Is it or not is it good for a responsive yo-yo or not
@@mathewdega8962 no

Dylan you should try the rotor Ron shag oil it makes bearings dumb fast
I used to do 1/3 oil and 2/3 paint thinner and I got so mad because it was too thick. Now I do 1/6 and 5/6

can you use Singer oil for the lube and ligtherfluid as the solvent?
yes, I have tries using lighter fluid and 3 in 1 and it worked really good
can acetone nail polish remover work as good as plain acetone? acetone nail polish remover + baby oil? thoughts?

love your vid
Does it works with nails acetone
Is it bad to clean it without lubing it with oil because I don't the have lube i'm scared to clean it and maybe clean the lube that'a already there
What about carbaretta cleaner that stuff will remove and crap or de greaser
what about making a responsive yoyo into a unresponsive and the opposite , and can you make your own yoyo axel
I love how he just call the liquid a solvent as in the solvent is going to distinguish the solute
He called it that because that's what it is. There were three options (lighter fluid, mineral spirits, or acetone), and each is a solvent.
Lighter fluid mixed with oil? Wouldn't they separate
Very epic
SO EPIC!
@@feebypeels2883 very much epic
Is it ok to do this on a narrow (responsive) bearing or would it mess the play?
Hi dylan u are the best!
I cleaned/lubed my bearings but didnt remove the shields. Should I redo everything with the shields out?
@Nicolo Clausen20 yeah I redid 2 of them, holy fuck shields suck to get out.
Sweet thanks. Does the string play a part of the performance of the yoyo? just got a butterfly xt and it sucks. First yoyo in 15+ years thanks.
