I'm excited to see you guys react to trailers, TV shows, and movies from other genres as well in the future.
I thought I was losing my mind whan I heard, "there ia no Carol working in HR." But then realized I love u guys for the reference.
I give the movie: 8/10
There are flaws to be sure, but it overcomes those flaws to become an enjoyable flick. I'm not looking for a 1 to 1 remake of the game or previous movie and we shouldn't judge the movie by that standard. However they really need to replace Lewis Tan (Cole Young) for the next movie to be better. Nothing personal, we just need a better actor for that kind of role. Stiff, inconsistent acting and a sequel bait ending is what lost Mortal Kombat (2021) points from me. Watch it on HBO Max or if you go to the cinema, I recommend going to the cheaper afternoon showtimes.

We don't know her character and weren't aware that's what she is. We didnt see any fangs. Just wings. At any rate, they wasted her character. Haha are you okay?
The laser shot Sonya used in the movie was from the first game. think it was back back high punch low kick to do it but its been so long since I played the original games. As far as getting their butts kicked ya that happens when I started in Ninjutsu years ago I learned real quick how to get good or end up leaving at the end of the day if I was lucky with a few bruised ribs, Anger can also be a very powerful motivator.
I don't care about Cole either, and I've played most of the games 🤣.
Everything you said about the movie was facts.
At the moment what i know it will be a trilogy. Part 1 before the tournament, part 2 will be the tournament and part 3 will be post tournament.
For Sonyas Arcana you had to understand what Liu Chang told Cole. In the moment you kill a champion the marking will jump to you and you will get your arcana instantly.
Thanks for the note on the trilogy. We understand how the arcana works. Lol we just think Sonya is kinda womp womp.
Jax killed someone to get his marking and he didn't get his arcana instantly.
@@DiaryofaBasicBW true. Also Kano didn't get his until he had that epic rant at Raiden's temple long after he got his mark. Either way, it's inconsistent at best and we're not sold on it period.
Glad to know I'm not the only one with these issues. My biggest complaint is the editing during the fights, not great. And Sub-Zero is the worst assassin ever. Love your reations! Excited to see what's next.

*The review at the end was the most honest review I've seen of this movie! The writing was poor (makes sense as it was the same writer who wrote Wonder Woman 84') and the second half of the movie fell apart. I do however love the fact that Sub-Zero was like Jason Voorhees in this but they legit off'd two MK Champions for no reason*
kano has his power after he kill reptile, he just didn't realize that. and cole was scorpion grandson that mean he has the same power as scorpion because he his bloodline but i think in this movie he not become scorpion because he not dead or maybe in second movie he dead or the two girl that always with him is it his sisters, maybe they death in second movie might turn his rage and become scorpion... sorry for my english, i hope u guys understand what im sayin 😅

The second act is slow and takes up the majority of the film. The first and final act deliver on the goods. Sonya Blade was a damsel in distress for the final act of the 95 film which is really out of character so to each their own. From MK3 onwards a lot of the story wasn’t centered around a tournament so it doesn’t bother me too much we don’t have a tournament in this film. The arcana thing is a movie explanation for how all these people have so many different kinds of abilities. It’s a writing shortcut to try and get more characters on screen without breaking your suspension of disbelief. For a $50M budget, first time film director and first time screenwriter I thought the film was quite better than what I expected.
Thank you for pointing out one of my “pet peeves” with a lot of people issues with some of the story & characters they made a bunch of changes but they were closer to the lore of the game than people think lol.
Outworld cheating & there being no tournament are big ones, after MK2 there isn’t another “tournament” until Deadly Alliance. 3 was the attack on Earth realm, 4 was Shinnok’s invasion, Deadly Alliance was Quan Chi & Shang Tsung’s “tournament”,
Also Kabal was a villain in the original timeline & Mileena didn’t really have a character besides “Kitana’s evil clone” until like 4 at the earliest.
Were their changes to the lore that are stupid Yes, (adding a prophecy, Cole being Scorpion’s grandson, etc.) but also some of the lore needed time to build up, (hopefully we see Kitana in one of the next movies, Ramifications for them “cheating”, Quan Chi, etc.)

Nice intro song did you guys make that or is that just unlicenced music? Sounds cool, very 80's vibe to it. Anyway, loved it as a huge MK fan there were lots of references in it but a lot of people first time you watch missed(things in the backgrounds, characters, weapons in the backgrounds of scenes etc) but admit I could have done without Cole, but overall enjoyed it. Loved how hardcore it was, can't wait for the sequels! Joe Taslim the actor who played Sub-Zero has signed on for 4 more sequels since this did well at the box office(during a pandemic) and on HBO Max streamed like 4 million opening weekend, at the movies was like 23 million. He'll most likely come back as Noob-Saibot, the all blacked out, shadow ninja that's who the first Sub-Zero/Bi-Han becomes once Scorpion kills him in the lore in the games canon. The only difference they took here with both, is when both Hanzo and Bi-Han die from each other(Quan-Chi an evil necromancer sorcerer) brings both back as Scorpion and Noob-Saibot with the souls of Hanzo and Bi-Han. They changed that for the movie, but yeah he'll be back as Noob so essentially both Hanzo and Bi-Han are undead ninja wraths lol.

What I thought was awesome as the blood looks like it does in Mortal Kombat 11. Nitaras death is kinda funny because she was a one off character in I think armageddon and no one liked her. So she got a flawless death and the best fatality. 🤣

You're seeing WB at what they do "best." Interference. Cole and fam were mandated by the studio just like they did to Snyder with the Russian fam in JL. Fans of movies and properties that we're excited by have to keep dealing with a company of execs that can't keep their hands out the pot.

The issue with this movie is the best characters were villains Kano Kabal and Sub Zero. Kung Lao was ok at times. But yeah all the heroes sucked
Sub- Zero is old and has been fighting for centuries so yeah he has perfected his abilities the other movies did him dirty he was trash in those

@@kendraswatchlist If I was the director of this movie, I would have references from MortalKombat 9, we need klassic characters like Kitana, Baraka, Johnny Cage, Sindel, Shao Kahn, Ermac, Jade, Skarlet, Kenshi, Kintaro, Smoke, Cyrax, Sektor, Quan Chi, Sheeva, Nightwolf, Shinnok and Rain. Also we don’t need any new character, and Warner Bros should focus on personal vendetta between Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

So Cole Young was a studio ordered character. They considered Johnny Cage for the main role but they said they didn't want 2 white guys with personality on the screen together. They said Kano and Johnny shouldn't have been together because they were white. And they didn't want a white guy to be a hero of a diverse cast.
Sonya is a soldier she’s supposed to be annoying
Lui Kang is actually one of the worst characters in the game and in the movies. Sure he does win mortal kombat in both the movies and in the games but it goes right to his head and he gets a huge ego over it. In MK9 he believes only he can beat Shao Kahn and refuses to listen and gets himself killed. In Mortal Kombat Annihilation he is boasting about his victory in the tournament and he is shut down by both Raiden who tells him yes he beat a great sorcerer to win the tournament but at that time he was no match for Kahn and later by Night wolf who reminds him not to get cocky "the tournament had rules this time anything goes"
Lol it's just childhood nostalgia. We're not up on all this lore, we only played the game as kids. None of this really changes our opinion of the movie but it's cool info.
@@kendraswatchlist his attitude really came out in the later games or in the second movie. for anyone that doesn't follow the games it might be hard to spot. luckily in this movie that attitude did not exist and hopefully when/if they make the sequel it will be the same :)
The whole movie was below average at best and a slap in the face to the real MK fans. Hanzo/Scorpion only had one child, not two. By adding another child they're changing a major part of the lore regarding Hanzo's history. Cole was boring and unnecessary and shouldn't even exist because the real story behind Scorpion's background is that he only had a son and there were no surviving relatives. The whole idea of the dragon marking and arcana was dumb. I mean Kano getting his laser eye and Jax with his arms because of "arcana"??? *Shao Khan voice* Don't make me laugh. Most of the fights felt rushed and low budget. Subzero is a bada** and so is Scorpion. Kano was hilarious and pretty much stole the show. Jax vs Subzero was good. Scorpion vs Subzero was awesome, with the exception of Cole butting in. I loved the fatalities. Overall, this movie was bad.
So what you're saying is that this had alot of good stuff but you hated it. Don't you realize by now that movie will change a lot of the stories. How many games,comics, or anime out there that translate like the original?
@@law35penn the bad parts outweighed the good parts. And I am aware that movies tend to change a lot of things. But for the very important details like Scorpion's backstory; 2 kids, really? He only had one kid and they were all murdered. And the whole arcana thing is just dumb.
