Dimmu Borgir... I see you are Grannies of culture! Dimmu Borgir is from Norway. The name means Dark Castle. The name comes from an Icelandic Lava formation that Icelandic Christians say is the place that Satan fell to earth. If you like the orcestral sound, check out the song "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" or "Ritualist".

Dimmu is from Norway (as I am) and the name is taken from an Icelandic volcanic area called Dimmuborgir. In Icelandic myth the place is home to the trolls, elves and... Santa. It means something like Dark (Dimmu) Castle (Borgir). Neither the choir, orchestra or the lady, Agnete, is permanent, they had a special orchestral tour 🥳✌️🤘

Dimmu Borgir...the evil twin of Nightwish ;) This was a one-off show in Oslo, Norway with the original orchestra and choir they used on their latest album. They then did a second show with live orchestra and choir at Wacken but with a different orchestra and choir. Those are the only two shows they did with a live orchestra there. I was at the show in Oslo. This video was from the Oslo show btw.

If you want to check out a videoclip of Dimmu Borgir I would like to suggest SERPENTINE OFFERING, it's a little bit older, but kind of cinematic.
I listen to Dimmu for about 20 years now and never got bored. They style evolved from more or less classical Blackmetal to this Symphonic style.
They are often called Sell Outs because of their success, tours and shows getting bigger and bigger, but I have seen them about 15 to 20 times and never get disappointed, always was great, and they are very nice guys Backstage either.

"Dim-moo Bor-gear" Nana King, that's how you pronounce them, and glad to see you ladies checking out my fave track of theirs, though i prefer the studio/MV version because you get to hear them both clearer, but i know how music companies like to copyright claim videos before 2015. that being said even though this is my favorite, their previous stuff when Vortex was in the band is great, he had a magnificent almost angelic quality to his voice which was a great contrast to Shagrath's. recommend The Serpentine Offering or Progenies of the Great Apocalypse for some of their earlier goodies, rock on!

As people said they are Norwegian. Created in 1993 in Oslo. A bit after the Trve Black metal schene we know of infamously. I think it's like 10 years after Mayhem? Idk. I don't care about Mayhem.
Dimmu Borgir had gone through a lot of changes over the years but at the start of their career, you could tell they were talented.
For all tid is still one of my favorite songs of theirs on sheer atmosphere alone. Some say their best years are behind them and hate the ever-growing symphonic sound, but eh, to each their own - I am a Borgir simp since 2008, and they've hardly ever disappointed me.
They have ten full lenght albums of mostly kickass work and weird-ass 3-word titles, such as Death Cult Armageddon, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. Enthroned Darkness Triumphant and so on. Only 3 albums don't fit that title style. two of which are the latest. Actually, should I count Stormblast 2? Let's not for this.
I still wonder if that was intentional...
Their music is often described as symphonic black metal with themes of anti-religion, satanism, society and the occasional cover. Peerfect Straaaangeeers
    Songs I suggest:
The insight and the catharsis. - this is how the cosmos sounds like!!! The lyrics are great the last part with Vortex is killer! Also, the middle where Shagrath "speaks" and where they both sing together at an earlier part. The music is incredible. Just... If you never hear this song you've missed out.
Kings of the Carnival Creation - Some of my favorite lyrics in metal belong to this song. A great description of humanity in general, really. Also a powerful wall of sound! I love the shit out of it!
Puritania. - This is just a simple fast Hype AF track to headbang to and is probably my favorite song of all time - for personal reasons. BUT! The version from Alive in Torment! Fewer effects.
Ugh, this barely covers some of their greatest songs.... and Puritania haha.
    Seriously - hear those guys.
Borgir had gone through a bunch of lineup changes with only two of the OG members remaining. Their two worst instances of such changes were their Keyboardist Stian Aarstad plagiarising a song from a game and putting in their second album, resulting in him being yeeted from the band faster than you can say copyright strike.
And the other is the kicking out of Bassist and clean vocalist Vortex (Simen Hestnæs) yes I did google that. And Keyboardist Mustis (Øyvind Johan Mustaparta) I definitely googled that! Which I can best describe like this:
Take a beauty Guru drama and replace Jeffrey Star and Tati with longhaired dudes in their mid 30's who used posts instead of videos.
A lot of dirty laundry went out in the open, Mustis intended to sue them over music credit, Vortex was talking shit, which prompted the members (obviously Silenoz) to write a bigass post talking shit back publically and profusely - the equivalent of a 40-minute callout video, where he (they) talked in detail about problems he (they) had, and I wish someone fucking took his (Theirs) keyboard away at the time, cause I could read him digging his grave.
Because of that, this will haunt Borgir forever. For EVER.
Legit you can still see (10 years later) people wanting those two members back or whining how it was better with them in the band. You can read all about it on the internet - It is kinda funny ngl.
Later the remaining members wrote the song Dimmu Borgir, which is very sophisticated from of a Diss track.
I live for the sass and drama, man!
If you wanna hear Vortex - check out Arcturus and Borknagar. You won't regret it.
I have no idea what Mustis is up to, or if he actually had claim over the songs.
Another fun Dimmu Borgir Trivia is them being sampled by a german rapper. I think it was Spellbound by the devil.
The orchestra and the lady are not a part of the band and this was a special event for a DVD.
I am pretty sure they don't write their own symphonies, but I don't care - not everyone can be Septicflesh.
The lineup currently is with the 3 remaining members:
The singer, Shagrath (Stian Thorsen) who is known (allegedly) to b a very shy person, even if it doesn't show here. The name Shagrath is from Lord of the Rings. He is currently 44 years old. He can play a shit tone of instruments - I might be wrong but I think he started with drums - and writes music. I think his dad is a musician. He has a heavy metal side project - Chrome Division where he plays guitar, but he only does back vocals for it, cause I don't think he likes his clean ones. maybe I misremember. You can also hear him sing clean in some of Borgir's songs once in a blue moon. but the havenly clean vocal you would usually hear is Vortex. Also, I think his eyes are dark gray/black, which is just cool!
Guitar is Silenoz (Sven Atle Kopperud) Who is, known to be a bit of an ass, but honestly, I think because he has that "Sick of your bullshit" attitude sometimes - and it's often merited. I mentioned the post. Another example is this MTV reality show - something, something, ozzfest, where he wnt off on the radio host. Even if it was clearly scripted to get a reaction.
He is also 44. The stage name comes from Greek mythology. He wrote the lyrics of a lot of their later songs and a whole lot of the music. I think he is THE songwriter, but don't quote me on that. He is usually the one giving the most interviews. he sang/screamed the vocals in their first album. He used to have a very cool beard! and long hair :D And get that - He was working in a kindergarten.
Lead guitar - Galder. (Tom Rune Andersen) Not much is known for this guy, honestly... By me at least. Can you guess his age? Yes! 44! In my Dimmu Borgir Hype days, I couldn't find many interviews of his or much about him. But I found his other band - Old man's child and they are glorious! He isn't a founding member of Borgir, but of Old man's child. he did joining the 2000's. He plays a lot of instruments. Of which I am sure about piano, and I think he is left-handed. I've read something like that in the past. Oh, and he did rock a Truck driver mustache that shouldn't work, but he made it work.
I guess you didn't ask for a whole-ass Wikipedia page on the band, but here we are. :D I wrote it, I'm posting it.

The orchestra is a Oslo symphonic orchestra and this was televised in the Norwegian tax paid TV channel as an event.
The woman singer is featuring on this specific song and at least when this came out she was the lead singer of the band called "Animal Alpha".

Next the second of the big extreme metal / orchestra concerts.
    Septicflesh Infurnus Symphonicus MMXIX.
And hard to pick one, but Anubis, vampire from Nazereth are decent options.
