At 1440p the 3080 does pretty well with the 5700x. I had this same combo and had no issues. But if it was at 1080p, the 5800x3d would be more than worth it for sure
Even the 6800 XT is way less expensive, more Vram (16GB compared to the 10GB or 12GB 3080) and the fps is similar if not the same on most games. There is literally no reason to buy a 3080 rn.
For the brand new price the 3080 is definitely not worth it. But if you are going the used route, the 3080 can be had for $400 or less. And at that price it can hold its own at 1440p, even if you have to tweak texture settings
