D4DJ Dub, but Maho's Thoughts are in Japanese

  • Yes, I have more cross dub ideas, most of them with Maho. She is the reason why my channel's doing well (along with the BanG Dream dub reviews). She's basically what Jennifer was supposed to be. Also, she should speak more Japanese in the English dub (like the "Kanpai" scene) and more English in the game (I know how Karin Kagami, Maho's VA, was able to speak English. She went to an international school. It's just Maho that needs an explanation.)
    I do not own copyright to the clips being used in this video. All rights are reserved to their respective owners.
    Fun fact: the English dub voices for Merm4id shares the voices as other characters in the anime. So, Dalia is the new producer of Photon Maiden, Marika works at a cafe, Saori is Maho's little sister, and Rika (yes, this is true) is Maho's little brother.

      @@sajidna I know, I said the most spoken other popular languages include Amharic, Berber, Portuguese, Oromo, Igbo, Yoruba, Zulu, Shona Swahili and French.
      I am aware that English is the 'world power language' but not everyone is able to speak it especially in the jungle lol
      I know the point made is supposed to be cutey but it's not PC. And I'm feeling technical at the moment.

      @@KierSkunker this seems to be a very minor and inoffensive conversation and thus there is no need to make this conversation PC. In fact, if you want to be more factually correct, it makes more sense for maho to speak to rinku in English as as you stated, English is the most universally used language, followed by imo french. Add on to that is that japanese students learn English for six years, starting from the first year of junior high. And they only use the English for their university entrance exam. So unless maho is an Arabic enthusiast, the only way maho irl would try to communicate with rinku is through japanese(since rinku transferred to a japanese school), followed by English if rinku's japanese is rusty.

    It always comes back to Tekken. There should be more series that have characters speak to each other with their native languages and/or, as is this case, switch it up whenever they’re alone. Way more fun to listen to over just hearing English.

    • @xp2467
      @xp2467  Před 2 lety +22

      D4DJ, Street Fighter X Tekken, Gen Lock (if they have a Japanese dub), heck it doesn’t even have to be in Japanese. Just as long as the characters reprise their roles in other languages, they can switch it back to their native language to make it interesting.

      I know this is a game not an anime but that’s something I liked about House of ashes. One of the characters you play as, Salim is from Iraq and while he speaks English with most character when he’s alone or with other Iraq soldiers he’ll speak his native language, or if he’s trying to say something without the English speakers knowing what he saying.

      Disagree. I dont wanna say it ruins the "immersion" but its a little wack when an anime does this. Tekken youre just beating the shit outta people mostly so it doesnt matter when Negan says some shit that Akuma somehow still understands

I mean, as far as I know, people in japan don't really talk like most anime chars, but their VA at least seems really natural to me, the english dub feels to me... fake I think, unnatural? I'd like the opinion of someone with more context please ^^'
