How to make a Zombie slaying arrow shooting slingshot (Halloween Special 2)

  • Have made another version of my slingbow. This time, upon many requests, I did a tutorial video as well.
    I have devised a home made arrow rest, using rubber (what else). Also, I set the rest far back to gain draw length. Then, I designed the "frame" in a way that armslaps can never happen.
    The bow is entirely made from 12 mm and 19 mm plywood, with three screws to stabilize the weapon.
    It is more bulky, but also a lot more powerful than its predecessor.
    It is Halloween today, so I just had to shoot at a coconut... penetrated both sides. With a field tip.
    It weighs 550 gramms (1,2 lbs), ready for shooting.
    Here are the blueprints:

    @Luvanicebum I have used whisker biscuits earlier, but they cost three times as much as all the other parts used in this project. I try to avoid expensive, hard to find parts in my how to vids.

    Instinctively, like shooting a longbow. Easy enough to add bow sights, though.

    @IvanArsole Well, a troll that I added as a friend is my kind of thing.
    People love arrows, I think mainly because you can hunt bigger game with them. Also, I have 10 hours of "lead" slingshot stuff up here, should be enough to watch for a while.

You, on the other hand, come to my comment pages and insult me. No more of that, I hereby ban you. Thanks and bye bye.

    @kaziklu79 I think for Zombies, field tips work better. A broadhead is great for soft tissue, but hunting Zombies requires skull penetration.

    @4950jwk Have used whisker biscuits before, but they cost more than all the other parts for the entire slingshots. To me, "homemade" means "from scratch", and not by using expensive parts.

    @versatilechicken No, you need to print it over two A4 pages.

  • @Slingshotchannel

    @Boyntonstu The law says arm braces or comparable devices. When it takes force off the wrist, it is comparable. So a slingshot on a stick is illegal in Germany.
    It is stupid, but when you add a trigger, then it is legal, because then it is a crossbow and no longer a slingshot.

  • @Slingshotchannel
    @Slingshotchannel  Před 14 lety

    @DudeNumberOnePlus Yes, I considered that. There is room for such a "bridge". I was planning to use a clear plastic tube (you need to see the arrow, so you know how far you can draw out).

  • @Slingshotchannel
    @Slingshotchannel  Před 14 lety

    @kaziklu79 I reviewed my scientific sources again in that light (Romero videos), and it seems a good arrow pushed right through a Z brain finishes them for good. Cholo in "Land of the Dead" proved that impressively.

(Side note: Funny thing : Just last weekend I ripped my elastic exercise tube and have excess tubing to do the arrowrest). With that problem solved I will lock myself into the workshop next weekend.

    @Boyntonstu Can't do slingshot on stick tests, this is illegal. Remember the wrist brace rule? Applies to it. Without a trigger, it qualifies as a slingshot, and not as a crossbow.
    Also, a 50pounds draw requires very heavy ammo, heavier than practical for most people. A heavy draw brings no sigificant speed increase for normal ammo.

    it's "Thera band" where Thera is simply the most common manufacturer of these therapeutical latex-bands, made for gymnastics and physiotherapy - you may get them at pharmacy/drugstores.
    usual rubber is usually not that elastic or wears out over the time.
    there are different colors, golden is the thickest one which is usually the best since it holds the heat for some more time than the thinner ones (the energy you put in by pulling the pocked is stored as heat so if you hold it, you loose energy)

    This is a great compact design. The arrows will take up more space than the bow itself. (length wise of course) Would make a great "other junk" thrower for specialized ordnance in a very quiet way. Neat. Will be making an example of this in wood and fiberglass. Very good video. Thank you for the work that you do. MGK/GDW!

    +JoergSprave would appreciate as mentioned the enhancements to the sling you mentioned on other videos, IE under slot system, brace etc. great video and cheers for the tutorials, my Rambone is the best finished item I have ever made by hand

    I like the addition of the arrowrest at the tail, but I wonder if accuracy would be improved with the addition of a whisker biscuit at the fore end and a shorter draw? The arrow would be held rigidly in two planes until you fired, and if the tension is equal in the top and bottom rubbers, it should fly exactly where you point it (allowing for ballistic trajectory).
    The fore end is already perfectly conformed to add a whisker biscuit.
    Cool slingshot. Neat concept.
