I love this one. This one cuts to the core. The way they filmed this was brilliant- each person close to the camera was intimate and personal and gut-wrenching.
This song is about depression, feeling unseen, being in a dark place and ways to escape the world. “I find it kind of sad, the dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had”. The song is meant to have a dark feel, a dark undertone, about it. Look up the lyrics. I feel they did a phenomenal job with their version. It’s not meant to be light & magical. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but I feel like if you listen to the lyrics, watch the expressions on their faces, their body language..it would make better sense. I hope you start getting some relief from the heat soon. It’s brutal out there!

This was recorded during the pandemic lockdown, so no one was together when they recorded the audio or the video. It makes the lyrics of the song hit even harder, as you watch the "ghostly" images of themselves cross back and forth in the background. This was very different rhythmically and in its attitude than the original version, which was written and performed by Tears For Fears back in the 80s. That version is a much lighter, faster, more "pop" sounding song.
I’m a sucker for introspection and intimate emotion, so this one is always on my list of favorites. But I’m not surprised that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. That’s one of the reasons music is so personal and magical, how it’s open to interpretation by every single individual. And that’s why reaction channels can be so valuable, we get to consider our own choices in light of the opinions of others. Yes, they covered Gary Jules cover of this song. I love the more melancholy versions. Roland Orzabal wrote a very beautiful song.
