Blender Tutorial Ocean Modifier Storm Rain Particles Foam Materials Cycles Blendermadeeasy Animation Beginner Easy How To Learn
Thank you so much! As someone who has only previously used Blender for Importing/Exporting models for use in Unreal, I was nervous getting into more complex tutorials, but you made this one very easy to understand and follow! I now have a very professional looking cutscene for a game I'm working on thanks to you AND I understand so much more about how to make scenes and use Blender.
Simply amazing tutorial, straight no chaser, not too fast not too slow, excellent description and walkthrough and not to mention with less than 30minutes you get a VERY nice scene. This should be the gold standard of tutorials. Welcome back, hope to see more from you soon.
your detailed teaching methods are beyond praise! Please continue! You explain things very clearly and clearly.
Continue.
The world needs you.
Great tutorial, really good work! First of all is totally understandable, so the steps are really easy to reproduce. Includes all details and shortcuts. It's also very nice work to use as a base when going pro.
Probably the most difficult tutorial ive done so far, but learned a lot, not sure how much i retained lol but definitely worth doing. Gonna have to do it again, rendering now. Thank you for the help! Great tutorial!
This is great. After following this tutorial the first rendered frame took my breath away. I learned a lot. My intro to ocean waves, particles, shrink wrapping meshes. Thanks!
czcams.com/video/NMWBAzQR7H0/video.html
pretty much a blender beginner and I could follow along with this tutorial just fine, learnt a lot of new and helpful things along the way. thank you!
Oh man, this brings back memories! Last time I did a scene like this was in Newtek Lightwave 3D like 20 years ago, using procedural noise maps to make the waves, and some clever shader trickery to add foam to the tops of the waves... The last few years I've often found myself remarking how insane it is that something like Sea of Thieves can render water that looks a million times better, at 4K HDR, in real time, when it took me minutes per frame at like 640x480. 😂
I used lightwave 10 years ago in high school. Back then I thought it was the easiest program because I had classroom instruction. Now that I'm learning blender on youtube, I can't figure out how I created my own ideas. I keep following tutorials but hopefully one day I can create something of my own again
@@Yazzzzy Well, I can say with confidence that _it's not you._ I have been trying to learn Blender for at least 15 of the 20 years since I made that scene in Lightwave, and until very recently, Blender has remained utterly impenetrable. The skills simply _would not imprint_ on my brain, no matter how hard I tried. There's something about its UI and the way it chooses to do things that my brain _will not accept._ Lightwave had a far more intuitive interface, and if I installed it right now and opened it up, I'd probably still more or less be able to use it as well as before. Meanwhile, I can spend a week reaching a 'not entirely useless' level of proficiency in Blender, but if I go more than a few days without using it...all gone!
@@Bakamoichigei Wow blender is very hard to learn so I’m glad it’s not just me. I forget the interface as well if I don’t use it often. Im glad it’s free but it’s too hard 😭
@@Yazzzzy You'd think that with all the research and sponsorship money the Blender Foundation has gotten, they could afford to do something about how unintuitive and convoluted the interface is. I guess the sad truth is that at this point it's "good enough" and "just how it is" and people have had to learn to cope with how completely bass-ackwards it is. 😭
I was literally playing sea of thieves 20min ago lmao
*thank you very much . this is my favorite youtube channel
*
The ocean 🌊 looks so real and the reflections really adds to the scene 🔥

do u know why everything turns black when i enter render mode? and how do I fix it?
@@siemzandvliet7912 idk if you still have this problem, but I had the same problem because I was rendering in Eevee instead of Cycles. If you're using eevee still, try switching to cycles and it should help
I would like to thank you for your amazing tutorial. I'm trying to learn how to do boat physics and stuff without any prior knowledge and this really helped. I was able to replicate semi realistic buoyancy and displacement with the way you setup the camera and buoy.
Instead of adding the random camera rotation using a keyframe and noise, I added a "Copy Rotation" constraint, similar to the "Copy Location" and set the "Mix" to "After original". This way, the camera rocks and rolls like the sea surface. If the waves calm down, get more rough, or the camera is moving, it will self-adjust whereas the random noise would not.
Nice! I should have thought of that!
in my project it almost works.. but the camera rotates heavily sometimes, dunno why :/
@@SuperIceteapeach Try adding only the corner points of the wrapped plane to the vertex group. This will give a smoother average for movement and rotation.
@@EDcase1 Yes this was my mistake! Thank you!
@@EDcase1 what is mean by number key sir anybody tell me
Thanks for this nice tutorial! I've never understood Blender, but now with ur tutorial, everything worked fine! Please more!
This was a very soothing tutorial. I'm hoping to make something with it when I get the chance, maybe adding a few odd things I've picked up along the way and see how they all play with each other.
Still, welcome back and I hope you are refreshed and happy with your down time. ^_^
Thank you! This is my second Blender project and I'm really happy with it. I'll be following along with your tutorials to learn more. Thank you for the instruction.
Wow! Thank you for the content and context off all the steps. This was easy to follow and now I have a dope water animation!!!
i just finished after about 40 minutes and i cant express my gratitude enough. i might do this 10 times to fullly grasp the ideas and concepts. thank you much. this is my 3rd day on blender and im catching on quickly. im very excited!
Good job! Proud of you!
How you coming along six months later? I am about the same time as you and cannot understand why I did not jump into Blender earlier. All the best!
I know this kinda old now but do you still holding on learning blender?
This is an awesome animation! I have finished your tutorial and am going to try my hand at the lightning tutorial to make this storm look even cooler!
do u know why everything turns black when i enter render mode? and how do I fix it?
@@siemzandvliet7912 do you have light placed in your scene?
@@Ayden3D no, but in the tutorial he deleted the light and went into render mode immediately, so im a little confused
@@siemzandvliet7912 thats because the buoy already had a light installed in it, are you using an other buoy model by chance?
@@siemzandvliet7912you have to add render layers node in the composition tab and connect it to the composite node
Made it to the end proud to say understood every step! Teaching was super comprehensive.
Very cool tutorial! You really make blender easy . I admire how you can come up with such simple and at the same time beautiful ideas!
Thanks for the tuto. There were no issues, super easy to follow. I'm working on the CG boost's lighting. I like Bill392 copy constraint solution, but I think both give a different result that depend on the intention. Meaning: my view was a person floating, so random works better for that. If the person is on a flotation device, then Bill392 is better, but is not, the person's mass would give a more random result, as in the tutorial.
czcams.com/video/NMWBAzQR7H0/video.html
If anyone is wondering why the Shrink Wrap on the cube is not being the way he is, when you choose the 'Group' on 11:14, it is because you might selected all of the cube's mesh. I'm stuck to this part too and wants to quit but when I realized that he didn't select the bottom of the cube 10:17 , I did not select it too and after repeating the steps multiple times, I did it! And it was fun.
Thanks!
I STILLLLL CANT UNDERSTAND
Hi I'm struggling with how he selects just the top half at 10.14 if you can advise me i'd be grateful
@@pierangelamanzetti5407 the top half of the cube? You can do it using box select
@@Gunner98 ah thank you I will try that, much appreciated
easily my favourite tutorial ive ever done i love this :)
I know I’m 10 months late, but i just wanna say that this tutorial was great! Super easy to follow and not too complicated. I’m glad i didn’t have to download any hdris! 😄
Man it is so damn good👌
i will only like cause verified
I have been playing with this floating a cube and found if you use a Torus instead of a plane you get a much smoother floating effect. I plan to replace to cube with a boat.
Thanks a lot for the video, learned a lot. Been looking to make an ocean for a low poly project and this was extra helpful.
i spent a hour and blender crashed ;-;
🤣🤣
F
Moye moye😂
You really need to save more frequently.
Use old version of blender ❤
A bit too fast for a newer blender user, but came out beautiful either way. A great way to show the capabilities of blender.
I wouldn't consider this a beginners tutorial. the good thing is you can always slow down or pause videos on youtube.
how do u render this project
@@Sjxixienxiei click render then click render animation
@@nonamenofame2243 .
I'm learning Blender for the first time and I want to say sir you are very very cool. Thank you so much for the tutorial!
But still able to explain each stage in a basic manner. Honestly thanks man!
for those with difficulties at placing the sea after Shift+D, use 50 or -50. When I used it was one at the top of the other when using -35 but it was right at the spot at 50!
I was stuck on this as well. His number of 35 is just have of his size of .70. I made mine 200 and moved them 100 and they lined up perfectly.
I´m new to Blender and did your video for the first time and it
took me about 3 hours😅
But I have to say, it looks better than expected.
oh good luck
This is encouraging for newbies like me.
How much time did it take to render?
@@ankushchoudhary1775Almost 6 hours.
@@sst3321is it render image or render animation? 😂 it takes a lot of time to render one image in this tutorial
Man, ur video actually made me move and make my first project ever that i want to put a lot of effort on it, this will be the start of my carrier with blender
Love this! really good tutorial! I have used all of this for another tutorial i was working on, the sea shack, and its really cool! Thanks!
How do you get the under water part to look so good? I match your settings and it's too dark to see anything. Am I missing something?
did u fix it ?
i had the same issue, i put the density on plan.004 to .30 and it helped
same here
What gpu do you work in ?
Try Adding a light?
As a beginner I loved this tutorial, super easy to follow along with, my only issue that that i am only getting around 2-3 frames a second, and my textures look super grainy. it shouldnt be an issue with my hardware as i made sure it was able to run things like this at the best it can. Any suggestions?
Amazing!!! I will post my result after rendering it and show you! This was a really great leasson!
Great tutorial! Thanks for always listing what you are clicking. Very easy to follow! :)
It would have been perfect if you'd used PolyHaven's new "Ship Pannace" for this tutorial!
czcams.com/video/NMWBAzQR7H0/video.html
17:54 Why add 2 Principled BSDF , could you explain the reason for that please?
Thank you for taking the time to explain all this to us new beginners.
Wow. This indeed looked easy to make. Haha felt like I'm such a Blender master :D.. Thank you man
Awesome tutorial!!
Thank you very much for this.
Really good work!
How did you get the default cube delete graphic? Is it something you made? I would love to know where and/or how I can do that. Thanks and great tutorial!
select the cube and hit delete in keyboard..and its done
where did you get the audio files of the storm and ocean? Thank you.
Great tutorial, thank you for sharing.

Wow... Looks amazing... Im new to Blender and this is inspiring. Great video and straight to the point!!!! with no pet cats, no dogs, no new car, no lizards interrupting... I've seen some videos where they start introducing their new dog/cat and what foods it likes and how much poop it sprays over the floor..... Huff. 😋😇 I feel comfortable with blender...thanks again mate... All the best from UK
Thanks for this amazing tutorial, I learned so much from it.
I was struggling to get the second "copy location" for the bouy working - the plane just would not adhere to the ocean surface using the project option - the trick to fix it for me was i had to tick the "negative" box in the modifier box and i think the reason is my plane's position was above the ocean, once i ticked this it worked perfectly
wow thank you so much
i guess i have the same problem. Can you help me with this 10:31 question. You dublicate by shift D ,and then there is a layer, where should i put it or just leave somewhere, cuz in the video seems like there`s no duble😅and as i notices i have 2 separate squares, not like rectangle
Now the question is, how do you make this loop seamlessly? Is there a way to edit the various "random" XYZ rotation graphs on the camera, to make them end at the same place as they started? Also, is there a way to modify the frame/35 driver so the waves end up at the start? I've been through a couple of iterations using keyframed time values on 2 stacked Ocean modifiers and got the waves to loop that way, but the camera never ends with the same view as it started, and the waves aren't as dramatic as with the frame/35 driver.
if you figure out a solution please post it
I got a new laptop and wanted to see it render something so badly, I jumped headlong into this tutorial after completing only half of Blender Guru's introductory Donut. In all, mine doesn't look as good as this, but I love it, and I love @Blender Made Easy for helping me get a taste of what my new computer is capable of.
Awesome. Made even more awesome by adding an airplane flying above from another tutorial and replacing the buoy with a floating donut.
Just so you guys know, if the shrinkwrapped plane stops projecting when the water goes below the origin plane, check the Negative box in the Shrinkwrap modifier menu
Thank you so much!
Thank you!! I was so confused as to why it wasn't working lol
Many thanks sir. I was having that problem.
Where is the negative box
I have no pc and laptop 🥺 but still my dream 💔👍
This was great! Thankyou, it’s very clear and straightforward
really cool, efficient way of getting an awesome final image. as a beginner im astounded we could create that in such a small space of time. without the guidance it would have taken me forever but i can know apply these techniques in future stuff i attempt. i'll be sure to share once the render is done!
do u know why everything turns black when i enter render mode? and how do I fix it?
Feel like I have missed something somewhere, tutorial is great don't get me wrong, but I 'm getting very different results for the volumetrics under the water. pretty sure I followed it exactly but it does not match up at all. Is there something in the render settings that needs to be specific for this type of render?
hey, bro, do you find solution? i stscked at this poitn too
I can't remember exactly what it was, I followed it back through a couple times, think I had missed something, then just tweaked some of the settings
@@legoman91 OH MY, I set to this 2 days ago and can't find out how to do this
@@legoman91 maybe you can watch your google history? I'm done
@@serega_aga I can try and have another look yeah, definitely figured it out from.this video and some personal adjustments, just can't remember what without looking at it properly. But even my final render is slightly different.
To put it simply, this is the best and detailed tutorial i've ever seen for beginners like me lol
Bro my computer exploded when I tried to render 😂
I just completed making this amazing project ,,feel confident thankyou
This is awesome, as a begginer on blender, this really blowed my mind, I will try with other objects like pirate ships and stuff, thanks a lot!
Did you manage to find a pirate ship model? I'm looking to do a similar thing for my assignment
Goooood. Everything worked perfect. Thank you for this tuto. This is the first time I touch Blender or a 3D software but I'm surprised to succed. You're.
Awesome tutorial!! Thanks very much. THis is just what I wanted to learn! ...and you have done it so clearly and succinctly.
greetings from Brasil. I watched some tutorials about how to create oceans but this one was so incredible easy to follow. I learned some new tricks. Thank´s a lot.
I love this! Thanks for being speedy and direct
Hands down, tNice tutorials is THE best beginner video I've watched. Others want to brag about all the sample, loops, etc they have. You keep
Thank You So Much for Showing this Awsome Tutorial
Holly Cow, this looks so real. I have been on the ocean so many times and I can tell you this is amazingly real. The only thing is that when you are in the outskirt of a hurricane, all the waves goes towards one side like from East to West. But you have to be on a big research vessel.
I think i haven't find any other videos that show how to make any thing so easy way thanks a lot ,,😍🙏🙏
It's a wonderful tutorial. Clear in every bit of details.
I loved this tutorial, I can’t wait for your others 😭

Woah, thanks alot man! I learned so much just by watching this vid!! Everything was easy to understand :)
Wow thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for!
This tutorial was great I basically followed in real time
what a great tutorial! Easy to understand! Blender ❤
My first time using Blender and this tutorial was a breeze thanks to the great explanation.
Can u help me ? when he told us to use Cycle as the render engine and we switch to viewport shading. Mine was very very noisy and blurry as heck, but when i use eevee. It was lookin just fine like a normal render without a texture. Is it me who is doin something wrong or is it just my computer that can't handle it ? but then again when i switch to eevee engine. It was fine
After BlenderGuru, this is the best tutorial style I've come across. This person needs to be protected.
What a scary scene. I actually felt fearful. Awesome work!!!
Loved the guide man. Only been using blender for the last few days with ZERO 3d animation exp. Hell I haven't drawn a 2D picture since I was a child.
