If you do a little research he's actually been working on this since he was a kid. Quick question. Take Terrence off of the table. Is it hard to understand that math is merely a concept. However when you apply that concept to physical space the physics does not add up. For instance, in reality, negatives does not exist. It only exists as a concept of mathematics. If I have one phone and you can only take that one phone. It is not possible for me to ever have a negative amount of something. I can't physically hold a negative amount of anything in reality. I can never have a negative amount in reality, but in math and on a piece of paper as a concept you can have a negative amount. However in reality physically, literally, can you ever hold -1 phone in your hand?

I literally am schizophrenic and up until recently was homeless for roughly 5 years. And you’re not wrong. The 1x1=2 is obviously just him playing with semantics. Makes me wonder if all the other more technical stuff he said is the same semantic games but because it’s shrouded in a scientific language most people don’t speak it means it’s harder to spot the flaws. You’re right though I actually want him to be right about something. He seems really OCD or autistic. However crazy geniuses do exist. Maybe he’s got like one thing right but that one thing is worth it for all the noise.

@@flashpointprdx That John Nash guy the film “A beautiful mind” was about had a lot of delusions as well and he discovered game theory. Of course that doesn’t mean every paranoid schizophrenic is a genius. And I know what you mean about a broken clock but maybe it isn’t the best analogy because sometimes that one time it’s right is very useful. Sure most of John Nash’s beliefs were destructive to his personal life but in the end his discovery helped mankind. I realise obviously there’s a degree of wishful thinking on my part because I’d like my schizophrenia to be good for something! But that doesn’t mean it isn’t. People play different roles in society and some people’s job is to be narcissistic and crazy because it takes a degree insanity to think in ways other people won’t and a degree of egomania to even attempt to discover something world changing. I just hope it’s not a lottery and that there are ways in which every schizo has benefit even if it’s not game theory.

Yes you are absolutely correct. The sentence 1 x 3 simply means 1 is to be added 3 times. I used the starting point zero to illustrate what this looks like on a number line. The point is, you're not starting from 1, that is in the sentence. 1 X 1 or 1, 1 times. Interesting in the comments. People are programmed to assume that the mainstream person is always right. This has never been the case. I am at least willing to be open to the possibility that Terrence is right in this case. It certainly makes sense. Neil is never open to anything outside of conventional mainstream science. He was one of those saying that Tesla Motors was going to fail, because the battery is a flawed model. He was absolutely wrong about that and had to eat crow and ended up buying a Tesla. Never assume that the mainstream consensus is always right. This has never been the case in our history of human civilization. Giadano Bruno is a case in point, as is Nikola Tesla.

      2. **Effect of Multiplying by One**: Multiplying a quantity by one doesn't change the quantity. So, if you input one item into the device and apply a function that multiplies by one, the device will simply reproduce one item as the output.
      3. **Repetition of the Same**: Regardless of how many times you input items into the device and apply the function that multiplies by one, the device will consistently replicate the same number of items as the input.
      4. **Effectiveness of the Device**: In this scenario, the device effectively does nothing in terms of altering the quantity of items. It simply reproduces the same number of items as the input, making it seemingly redundant or non-functional for this particular task.
In essence, using a device to replicate objects and applying a function that multiplies by one would result in the same number of items being produced as the input, rendering the device ineffective or redundant for altering the quantity of items.

Respectfully, I don't think anyone in this comment section understands the context. You have to understand that him and Mr Tyson disagree on how multiplication should be viewed or used. Everyone in the scientific community believes that multiplication does not apply to physical nature but is simply used as a way to measure. Howard believes that everything in the universe including multiplication should abide to the laws of physics. Hence, from his POV 0 x 1 cannot be 0 according to the law of conservation which is a basic principle in the laws of physics. 0 x 1 has to be 1 or else what happens to the energy? But remember he disagress with how multiplication is used and that it should be abide to the laws pf phsycics. If you think about things from this perspective, i think you can humor or indulge him on this perspective. This would entail rethinking how we even are hardwired to think about multiplication.

So in other words, Stephen hawking disproved his own theory and said it was wrong, but people weren't mad at him for disproving his own theory, so why are people aiming hate towards somebody who was challenging an idea? They only tell you about the inverted side. 1 as an identifier stems from you can't multiply non existence so if something is 0 it can't exist in physical space so its of indeterminant size but could have an infinity small mass therefore 1 x 1 = 1.. but that's only of you first start with the negative side of the spectrum 0 x 1 = 0. We have all been fooled by a mathematics sleight of hand. Thus in nature 1x1 = 2

Math concepts are abstract sometimes so be careful you are using the mathematical definition of the terms and not the generic one. Just because something works out in mathematics doesn't mean it should in physics! Multiplication in mathematics is just a shorthand method for repeated tideous additions.
    Besides,
x³=x² is not a math fallacy. It is an equation that can be solved:
    It's equal to: x³-x²=0
    x²(x-1)=0.
Thus, x=0,x=0 and x=1 are the solutions.
    Furthermore,
    (√2)³=√2×√2x√2 = 2√2 since (√2)² = 2
    Details: √2= 2^½ by index laws;
    so ,
    √2³ = (2^½)³
    = (2^½)² × 2 ^½
    =2^²/²×2^½
    = 2^¹ × 2 ^½
    = 2 x 2^½ but 2^½ = √2
    Hence,
= 2√2 (which is what Terrence told the other dude to enter)
    Now divide by 2: i.e 2√2/2 = √2
    Hence √2³ / 2 = 2√2 / 2 = √2 🥱
    There you go !
    Quit what you smoking terrence.
Be careful folks, stupid movement might make another flat earth society cult like following on this guy's insanity

Logically speaking, I think I agree that 1×1 multiplication is weird since it doesn't actually multiply. Though I'm not a mathematician or anything so I have no deeper context as to why this is and could be talking nonsense.
Even something like 1×2=2, is weird to me since essentially the sum is less than its parts. Which again logically is weird since multiplication is supposed to be more and the equals sign is supposed to balance the equation (meaning both sides should be equal).
Perhaps, it would make better sense if 1 was more definitively defined as a constant in multiplication or something like that which is why it seems to break the multiplication rules a bit. But then again not a maths guy so I'm probably talking nonsense.
