    I like the glass panel demonstration. It really shows the coverage and how the ridges collapse. Great review on the trowel selection.

    I looked through your videos for info on thin sets but didn't see one. So many to choose from. Example Mapei : They have many different products for large tile format. Big price difference for what looks like the same product description on different bags. Thanks and good work!

    Picked up Rubi Pro trowels at Home Depot (1/8 x 1/8, 1/4 x 13/32) for under $14. Hope Rubi makes quality trowels.
    Also got a QEP 1/2 square stainless for $8, felt ok in the hand

      What do you think the resulting bed is of the euro notch? In the glass panel demo it looked a bit thinner than the 1/2 in square. Maybe between 1/2 sq and 1/4 x 3/8 x 1/4 or basically the same and I’m seeing it wrong

  • @Cacophony314
    @Cacophony314 Před 4 lety

    What's the minimum thickness the trowel notch can be for a 10mm thick tile. I'm trying to level it with pre-existing tiles that are a lot thinner (5mm) with 6mm thinset projection for a total of an 11mm projection. Not sure if it'll hold if I butter it too thin. It's a tumbled marble mosaic 10mm thick.

    I'm glad you're making good videos. The only other contractor I recommend on CZcams would be Sal De Blasi. There are so many hacks on CZcams it's not even funny. I like watching Uncle Sal he's got a funny lisp with a New England accent.

    Please when you use a notch trowel do you nearly scrape it jut where the notches are. I wish you could do a video on haw to spread it on and how thick

    I'm installing 6"x12" marble tiles on a wall as a fireplace surround. Going by size I was going to use a 1/4-Inch by 3/8-Inch trowel but each tile weighs slightly less than 3 pounds. Should I step up to the 1/2". And which for the floor in front of the firebox?

    What’s the difference between the regular 1/8 trowel and a v notch trowel? Can they both be used for smaller tile or is one better then the other?

    Question: When you install large format tile (24'' X 48'') do you use 1/2 trowel over the membrane and 1/2 in back of the tile ? I mean you put 1/2 of mortar on each end, or less in back of the tile? Thanks for your help !

    • @LandbergTileTV
      @LandbergTileTV  Před 4 lety

      We do it both ways. If you are new to tiling, I would recommend half inch on the membrane and the back of the tile so you can work the tiles in and together to get a flat installation. Both methods work and provide 100% coverage.

    • @stevebeaulieu2617
      @stevebeaulieu2617 Před 4 lety

      Thanks a lot Body ! I will do 1/2 inch over Ditra and 1/4 in back of the tile, just to make sure it doesn't go to hight for my floor. I watch your video about the wet tile saw dewalt, I bought one ! :)

      Landberg Tile: Hi my friend!, I need your comment ont that: There is my floor layout: Joist 16'-8'' and 17' at 16'' center with 5/8 plywood tong and groove glue and screew. For the deflexion of the joist the place I bought the joist said L648, L699,L745. I need to tell you than I will have an island of 73'' X 84'' with granit counter top on top of my 24'' X 48'' tile. Do you think my joist are enought strong for not cracking my tile ? Deflexion is ok for the lenght of the joist? Would you add a second layer of plywood on top of my 5/8, maybee 1/2 or an other 5/8 plywood? Thanks for helping me, by the way you are a good teacher !

    • @LandbergTileTV
      @LandbergTileTV  Před 4 lety +1

      It's better with different jobs and applications. Cutting big heavy quartz, it's small and compact and no water! The Dewalt is still the best all around.
