      All my wiring diagrams come from ProDemand a monthly paid service. If you’re a business it’s invaluable, if not, Alldata offers a diy version which is way more affordable. I had that service before I started my business and was very happy with it. I honestly couldn’t do what I do if I had to search the internet for a wiring diagram, believe me I tried. I could never seem to find what I needed. Hope this helps.

    Phenomenal personal strategy based diagnostics. GM Service Information is only as good as the technician referencing it. I've had this exact issue before and any good GM tech will do as you did and run straight for the EBCM connector then see what's what. Plus it's refreshing to see a tech understanding the theory and operation of vehicle systems and using a scope to interrogate wave forms!

    Watched the whole video, been subscribed for a a lil while now and I have learned many things from you. I'm currently learning diagnostics myself, and the entire video I was with you, but I totally agree with what you said at the end, please start videoing the entire process, so I can see you connect your pico, run all the tests, make mistakes, go down the rabbit hole with you, because me, as a viewer, know you are gonna find the problem, but overall alot of steps are skipped the way I see this video, and although you provide all the answers, I can't wait until I can watch your entire thought process, including procedures of each step, to help me understand everything better. Appreciate your knowledge, and your willingness to share, as I am a machinist/autu technician, and "my partner in crime", my dad, died a few years ago, and people like yourself really help me, in my personal journey at becoming a master tech.. thanks tio, will still watch either way, just would help to see every step, instead of a narration with highlights, thanks..

I agree, this video like many I have in the editor now that I want to release, have so much content I have to cut out due to permissions. I’m not a good storyteller nor a very articulate person so my preference would be to let the full video tell the story.     great info. Wish I could work with someone like you to help teach me more. I had one drug into my shop with very similar problem. Went to try your trick of unplugging the abs module to see if I could get communication again and found the wires had been rubbing underneath while going through the pasture and had a few broken. It is a work pickup in the oilfield with a lot of off road driving to get to different leases.

    Thank you, I have a 14 Sierra with intermittent no crank no start, tried everything I have found on line,and still no luck. Now I have another way to start looking, wish you could take a trip to Atlanta

    Question I started mine with remote start. Came out to hop in the truck timed out after 10 min like usual. Tried to start and no start just 1 click at the starter. Check engine light is on. Also the battery is just 2 weeks old and I have 13.6 volts at battery. Any help would be appreciated.

      If the security light isn’t on, first thing that comes to mind is to do a voltage drop test on the starter circuit. If you haven’t ever done one, you need a volt meter and a helper to turn the key. Search YT for “starter voltage drop test”, there are a lot of really good videos on the subject. If you get it running have the codes checked at your local auto parts and see what codes are set.

    Hello Tio, just found your channel because I have a 2014 Sierra truck that just started ago with the one click when trying to start my truck. Not sure why exactly, but after we went and got a jump pack, the truck started that night.
    It’s happened a couple more times since last week with the one click, and I noticed if I turned the steering wheel back and forth a little bit, and try the key switch again, the truck would start up.
    Would you have any suggestions for maybe what to look for in the steering column or should I look elsewhere?

      I would suspect a battery voltage or a voltage drop issue first. As for turning the steering wheel, I can’t think of anything that would lead me down that path. Changing with movement of the gear selector could send me down a path.

    So this started to happen to my truck changed battery new starter got the starter installed at dealership was working awesome for 4-5months and I’m back to the same. She can start right up drive her to the store in and out 10min. No start takes a few tries for it to start up it clicks clicks clicks until it starts up but has trouble starting up. Any help on this?? Thank

      Based on your description, I would start with a voltage drop test on the starting circuit. I would suspect high resistance due to heat on the circuit. More than likely the S terminal circuit. Just a guess but a good place to start and often overlooked. Hope this helps.

    I'm dealing with a similar issue on a 2015. I'll get dings from the dash but no lights no radio windows won't roll up or down but the headlights will come on? I pulled my hair out on it yesterday and gave up I'm going to try some of this stuff in your videos

    I ran across your video I have a 2018 Silverado ltz that has the same problem no crank or start the dash board and accessories work but the truck doesn't do anything like the one on this video can you help me with any information to get it started

    It's a whole different world with this CAN and module technology. With out the equipment a DIY er may be in big trouble.

    Was there no gear indicator light on in this? Replaced a torque converter on a 4L80 in a 2014 Silverado. All connections are secure. There’s no gear indicator light and no crank what so ever

      I apologize amigo, I really can’t remember. If your truck was running before you replaced the torque converter and all connectors are secure, I’d double check the grounds. Even reattached they sometimes aren’t really good grounds, especially on rusted or painted surfaces. Wish I could be more help amigo.

    I want to know are you familiar with the 1999 mercury villager I have a crank but no start The vehicle is reading of the crank shaft position sensor but only on the code reader but it does not show any RPMs on the dashboard

      I'm not familiar with a villager but I did do a 04 mercury tracer and I believe it was a 2 wire vr sensor, I would check the resistance of the ckp and if good, I would scope it at the icm, (yours may go to the pcm). I never really trust the tach movement, I just use it as guide. Without a scope, you would have to do a wiring integrity check after the resistance check. That's probably not much help but without seeing & testing that's the best I got amigo, sorry.

      Hey thanks for your response but I think the mercury tracer is a totally different vehicle than the mercury villager which will also be Nissan quest I think it had a 3.3 L Nissan engine it also a distributor cap

    I have 07 GMC Yukon with 6L80 transmission. I replaced the transmission check balls. and now no shifter underscore indicator, no crank no start. What it could be, if everything is installed correctly.
    Is Possible trans module needs reprogram?. If you please give your opinion
    Codes I have B1011. U0101, U0100, I tried to clear them with my autel MK808 but car didn't accept it.

      Are you able to communicate with the tcm? Which module(s) are reporting the U codes?

      @@TiosAutoDiagnostics ​ Not able, but was ok before I touched the trans. The code U0100:00 says lost communication with ECM/PCM. Car model 07 GMC Yukon XL Denali 6.2 Engine/ 6L80 Transmission. Fuses all ok. I remember I turned the key on/off, while the transmission body valve module out. You know these models the module is on the body valve inside. And since that time the shifter indicator never came back, even after installation. And I'm sure the saftey natural switch that is inside the trans is perfect.

      The gm 6 speed TCM (internal) and the 8 speed (external) in my experience have not needed anything as far as programming when swapping transmissions. All problems in my experience have been pinched harnesses, forgotten grounds or an occasional blown fuse.
      I suspect the other U code is loss of TCM, the 2 U codes give me a direction, meaning if the BCM says it can’t communicate with the TCM or ECM, as opposed to whether the SRS says it can’t, or a different module says it can’t, I would suspect which inputs it’s expecting, and go in that direction.
      Based only on what we know right this moment, I would check powers, ground and communication to the TCM first, if I couldn’t communicate with the TCM.
      The B code is probably because of an input expected but not seen due to the loss of communication of the originating module if that makes sense. The module giving you the B code is probably pointing to the module with the root cause, if it is expecting an input from a particular module.
      If you can’t communicate with the TCM, no programming or configuration settings will help.
      Not trying to be confusing but it’s the best way I know how to do it, it makes sense in my head lol

    Had rabbits chew wires local mechanic fixed but car won't start. Had to tow it to dealer was told ECM been there two weeks waiting on-the-go part. Hope that's a fix.

      I’m pretty sure the park neutral cut off wiring has it’s own connector at the transmission, but I’m not 100% on that I’d have to look at a wiring diagram for that vehicle again, sorry.

    You mentioned the abs control module and the power steering control module are connected in some way
    My power steering went out a few months ago now I am getting this exact issue with no crank no start no communication.
    Can you let me know where this module is located under the truck so I can start my wiring search.

      On the driver side frame rail below the driver seat for the abs, the steering rack assembly for the PS module and the actual steering column for the angle sensor. Hope this helps amigo!

    my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado z71 5.3 just died while driving and it want crank, the starter solenoid was melted a little bit, put new starter on and it's get power to the starter still not cranking

    I had a bad starter relay. I swap out with the trailer lamps relay. Will replace soon. I swapped it out with the fuel pump relay first to the vehicle died while running for a few sec. Dead give away without using the powerprobe to send power and ground for relay testing.

      I have 2017 Tahoe flood car, I replaced the engine transmission and all modules in the car, a made 2 keys now the car start for 4 seconds then shut off it showing theft deterrent system on dash

      Without looking at a wiring diagram, I’d say the concept is the same if working on the same year & make but the glow plug module may play a role in the starting circuit which has other components associated with the network.

    I have a 2015 Silverado. It takes the second try to start up. And sometimes it won't crank at all I have to wait 8 to 10 minutes so it could start right up.

      My first thought is a fuel bleed off, maybe pressure regulator, but with intermittent no crank, that’s a head scratcher. What codes is it setting?

      @@TiosAutoDiagnostics Yes. Intermittent power issues since shortly after we bought it used in July 22. I've replaced the battery and power distribution fuse box, but we still have issues. We drove through the mountains over Christmas and we're worried about losing all power on the road as the lights would dim. Last week, I drove it in the morning and when I had to go to another appointment, no power whatsoever.

      Move the battery cables when you have power loss, I’ve seen Chevys have intermittent power loss due to voltage drop in the ground cables. It’s like the battery is completely dead but you check battery voltage and it’s fine, move the cables and it’s back, just a thought.

      @@TiosAutoDiagnostics I did that the last time, shaking the negative ground cable, but never in my life have I had to do this with any other vehicle. It's a Quality issue that the manufacturer and engineers know about, but only have to get the truck past the warranty period that pisses me off. When I get some extra cash, I may just replace the negative and ground cable too.
