"Shopify Subscriptions" App Setup & Review 👀

Hot Take: "Shopify Subscriptions" is out, and I installed it so you don't need to 😬
How I see it right now:
✅ Pros:
- It's totally free - $0/mo, 0%
- It's built by Shopify - it'll be supported for a long time
- Passwordless Subscriber Portal (via Shopify's new Accounts)
- Notifications are part of Shopify Notifications
❌ Cons:
- No prepaid subscriptions
- No way to preselect "Subscribe & Save" on the subscription widget
- No upsells on upcoming orders
- No customizable cancelation surveys (as far as I can tell, no cancelation surveys at all :S)
So what we have here is quality built, but SUPER basic functionality offered for free. Generally, a decent formula for value^ if only there was no opportunity cost.
Right now, other apps like Subify Subscriptions, Recurpay, and Yotpo Subscriptions also have $0 plans (yes, with transactional costs), but starting with these apps actually gives you a platform you can build a subscription business on.
With much in life, you get what you pay for. If you're expecting subscriptions to be a growth & profit engine for your business, Shopify Subscriptions will need to do a lot more with what they got.

Thank you for this! Do you have any recommendations for the best app to integrate with Shrine theme? I don't need a very robust customer experience, just need it to match the style of the theme/bundle options the theme allows. Thank you in advance!

Sorry, just saw this now! As a rule of thumb, all subscription apps "integrate" with themes as long as they are Shopify 2.0 which I belive (not 100% sure) Shrine is. However, pretty much all subscription app widgets are ugly as hell lol. To make the widgets look good, we actually built our own app that works with any subscription app and any theme. Just find "Good Subscription Upsell" app by Good Subscription Agency on the Shopify app store. Shoot me an email too if you have any questions, [e-mail]

Generally, you'd want to look for an app that supports Markets and Multicurrency, so I'd recommend looking at Recharge, Awtomic, Loop Subscriptions as my top 3
