    Boy a lot to dive into in this video. The question becomes what kamado should you buy for a charcoal smoker? So we narrowed it down to our top 5. In our opinion this is the 5 best available, the best of the best. Whats cool is each smoker has unique features that make it different from the rest. So let me tell you some features about each one.
    Primo Primo smokers are very unique in the sense that they are the only ceramic kamado that has an oval shape. There are several benefits to an oval smoker. One being that you can fit more rectangular food on the grill, for example a long narrow brisket is more practical on an oval style cooker. Also the other advantage is having a long narrow shape, its easier to have charcoal just on one side of the grill, so you can do off set cooking or indirect cooking for low and slow. Also the primo is manufactured in the USA.
    BLAZE So the blaze kamado is super unique, not so much in the way its designed but rather more what the kamado is actually made out of. This guy is cast aluminum. This material accomplishes several things. First cast aluminum is virtually indestructible. So you will have this thing forever with a lifetime warranty. Secondly, its also completely rust proof so it’s built extremely durable. Also lets talk cosmetics. It has a very different look then any other ceramic product being that it looks like stainless steel. This is beneficial when you have a full outdoor kitchen with lots of stainless steel. It matches very well.
    Big Green Egg This is the original Kamado Smoker, the OG of grills. What is nice about the egg, is it offers the most amount of sizes, with a range from the XXL to the Mini. Theres an egg for every customer. What else is nice with BGE is they are more a la carte. So it saves you money because your not buying an all in one package. Also they don’t allow online sales, so they rely heavily on a local dealer network, so you know your buying from a reputable source, and you will always have exceptional quality.
    EVERDURE 4k This is probably the most futuristic in the bunch. The only kamado series that offers technology and electronics in their smoker. First off, you can see cosmetically it is a big departure from what you typically see. It offers exceptional curb appeal, and would look great on any patio. Comes in 5 colors as well. You also get an automatic ignitor for your charcoal, blue tooth controls, for your smart phone, and integrated meat probes to track everything. If your into technology this grill is the way to go.
    _Kamado Joe Big Joe- Last but not least we have kamado joe, probably the most popular and the best seller between the bunch. One downside is it only comes in two sizes. Offering the SLO roller technology, i dont think you will find a better unit for smoking! Also with the easy lift handle, and great chimney top, this is one of the better built kamados in my opinion.
    Don’t forget if your in the Denver Colorado Area visit our showroom today to see all our products.

    Great Video with very fair comments on all these! Love the look of the Everdure, what a beauty. I have the Primo Oval XL and shape really is very useful, can lay multiple full racks of ribs without having to cut them, and with the extra racks can have two tiers of cooking surfaces. The offset cooking too is great! I agree they could add better gaskets, lifting hing and update their chimney top. The Blaze looks like a BEAST! Does it get hot to the touch when you're cooking? That would be concern. Thanks for putting this together!

    • @embersliving
      @embersliving  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes it does! But the outside gets hot!

    • @gwynmorris7199
      @gwynmorris7199 Před 3 lety +1

      when a material convects heat (and aluminum is very good at that) that heat has to be replaced to maintain temp. Notice the 'Hot' warning triangle on the front. To replace the heat you need to give more air to the fire. The unit is moving more air through the cooking chamber - more air in means more air out - and that carries away moisture from the meat. For me ceramic is better - but not the best. Both ceramic and aluminum kamados get too hot during long cooks. BTW aluminum corrodes - by nature, aluminum is a reactive metal - it goes dull grey and pitted. There is not enough, for me, to choose the Blaze over the ceramic. Probably better than the 4k - this is destined to be a dog-of-a-kamado in a short time. IMHO.

Cool to the touch, 5 vents, horizontal and vertical configurations, firepit on different levels, grates on different levels, full cast iron internals, the lid alone weighs 60KG lift with a finger,, reactions like 'wow-where-can-I-get-one', handmade heritage product, not made from ceramic, or steel, or aluminum, patent-pending, designed to impress both the chef and the guests. A fusion of east-and-west icons a blend of cultures. Made in the UK - can't say too much at this stage.. Released very soon.

I mean the sleeve for the Blaze is $1100, and that doesn't include the cost of the island you'd build around it) compared to Kamado Joe. Primo Oval XL for the win. Too bad you didn’t show that one. And btw the reason they haven’t innovated is because they don’t have to. Green Egg hasn’t either, don’t hear you blaming them. Also Oval XL isn’t too big like the big joe but still holds a monster brisket or giant spatchcocked turkey.

  • @SmokingDadBBQ

    So much miss information in this video. The Large Big Green Egg and the Classic KJ are the same size grid (18”). The next largest Egg is the XL at 24” and the Big Joe is the same 24”. Your brisket example of the Big Joe being too much space makes no sense as the Egg doesn’t have a model in between 18 and 24” either. The Egg continues to the XXL which is a 29” grid. The BGE Small and MiniMax are the same size as the Joe Jr. For BGE you claim sizes are an advantage, on the KJ you dismiss this size for something you wouldn’t want to put on your patio. If you sell these things and are going to make videos you need to be a bit more responsible with the inaccurate info on an otherwise well produced video

    • @embersliving
      @embersliving  Před 4 lety

      Very true. I wouldn’t call it misinformation. Even though the cooking grids are the same the BGE XL is still a physically smaller all around smoker then the big joe. Not hating on Kamado joe(I use it at home).

      Yes Golden's cast iron cooker. No one ever does reviews on these cast iron cookers. I have owned 2 of the 20 inch version for the last 4 years and have been very happy with them. They still need to add some convenience features though to be the best. I have been hoping Golden's would bring some new innovations to their cooker as it misses out on some convenience. Examples would be a 2 piece heat deflector would be nice for making it easier to add more charcoal if needed. Also removing the grates are inconvenient to remove when loaded up with food if you need to add more charcoal or smoking woods.
