I wish they could add captions! Luckily I have one cohlear implant hearing aid. I'm born deaf both ears . I used to have that movie when I was very young. Today I learned about her in my ASL class.
(If you are wondering why I'm in still ASL 1 class is because when I was infant. I got surgery so I can able to hear WITH my hearing aid on. Doctors want me to speak more and more speech. I'm in high school still difficult. It was so different from Elementary.) Bleh. I'm good.
      @Brady
Lol, really? :P How can you not notice that? Deaf people can not read lips while watching the video using voice with no face. (IDK if my sentences makes sense..)

I was surprised they didn't know her, even more because one of them has a degree in music therapy, but even after I told them a little bit about her they hadn't heard about her. So I think plenty of people in the world doesn't know about her.

Are you serious???😆🤣😂 helen keller was an avid supporter of eugenics! 🤣 She wrote letters to doctors who delivered babies born with birth defects, urging them to commit infanticide in some form. She believed that these babies would become criminals and be a drain on society. You could not have possibly come up with a more ironic statement if you had tried!🤣😂🤣😂🤣 And on a side note, she was also a socialist...likely because she grew up with wealth privilege. You'll never find a person who crawled out of poverty pushing for socialism! It's so funny, really. She believed in eugenics as a disabled person who was allowed to live, and believed in socialism while she only experienced a middle-class lifestyle. Very telling.😄🤣😂

+laura Silveria I gather she's a well-known figure in the USA but it's a shame her story isn't more known elsewhere in the world. It's truly inspirational.

There's Patti Duke who played her in a movie. Didn't know they actually met. I remember hearing about Helen growing up. I would have been in 8th grade when she passed.

Helen Keller is my hero. I have congenital nystagmus and I have learned that people seem to think the same way about children with disabilities.

Yet she was pro Eugenics. Not a great quality for a hero.

    Helen keller was very intelligent:
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched-they must be felt with the heart.
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much…
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow…
Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light…
The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision…
What I am looking for is not out there. It is in me…
It’s wonderful to climb the liquid mountain of the sky. Behind me and before me is God and I have no fears…

Mo Khan yes i did watch it, great movie. very different from the other hindi movies which is typically lively and colourful with song and dance. Black has none of that. while it was not about Helen, it was definitely inspired by her.

It's because of her that my brothers my sister my friends and family and myself have the opportunity to actually have a life. As for in the past both my brothers and my sister and most of my friends would have been forcefully taken away from our Holmes and put in institutions and have done unspeakable Horrors done 2 Us. My entire family and friends are truly grateful.
