This song is a prayer! I taught my oldest son (34) this song when he was about 8 or 9, so that he could really understand the content and apply it to his life. God is good!

Let me add: This selection was played on COMMERCIAL FM radio in the 70s. Going forward in time, we’ve can backwards in quality. Imagine what our children would be like if they heard this on radio and social media.

yall, i had this album when it first came out - still have it after 46 years. i was in the 8th grade. you have no idea how many times i went to this particular song when i was picked on, or couldn't understand the hearts of others. 14 was hard on me. the album itself was a soundtrack for different experiences i was to have in the coming years. today...THIS day, i need it again for a trauma i can't seem to understand and need to reach back to "that certain childhood strength" that, along with this song, will get me through...thank you EWF for this prayer...and my resulting peace. i forgive you R.

I love much music , many different genres , awesome musicians but in my humble opinion , " the Great I Am " allow these people to connect and create the most rhytmic , inspiritational and beautiful music I had ever been exposed to. Live they were a highly spiritual experience. I still vibe hard to their albums. I am in my sixties. R.I.P. Mr. Maurice White , Heavens' Musical Director.....

This is a beautiful spiritual incantation to the future. So hopeful.
For some reason this song just suddenly popped into my mind. So fortunate to have attended an EWF concert during the '70's. The only drawback was that Ronnie Laws had recently departed from the group. The time of lightning in a bottle...When music's main focus was on positive messaging.
This is my favorite album..came out when I was four...I would always sit by the radio...my mother bought me the red 8-track...knew all of the songs...didn't know what they meant, but knew the words...but this was (and still is) my favorite song from that album.
Many of our children would be reached. Many would go to pursue their dreams. ❤

I had the pleasure of seeing earth wind and fire at Wembley and I could not get over there sound you could hear every instrument so clear their sound engineers were outstanding it's hard enough with a four piece band this was a 13 piece band they were incredible Maurice white verdins white Fred white all brothers al McKay Andrew woolfolk Jonny graham Larry Dunn Philip Bailey Ralph Johnson plus the Phoenix horns don myrick Louis shatterfield rahmlee Michael Davis and Michael Harris
Gary Drew Gary I have also had the awesome experience of seeing "THE FIRE" in concert and the very awesome opportunity to spend quality time talking with Verdine White and Larry Dunn ,what a dream of an evening. Both were super friendly guys and showed me extreme courtesy.
Spent almost the total evening me and my sister conversing with Larry Dunn about their concepts and how they came up constantly with incredible music.
Needless to say that experience will stay in my memory of most incredible awesome experiences.....Peace

Happy 70th birthday to Verdine White, born this day in 1951, bassist, songwriter & producer. When he was still a teenager, Maurice White (his older brother) invited him to join Earth Wind & Fire in 1970 & still a major player in the band
Growing up in the 70s and listening to EW&F was uplifting. I even recall their music being played at Opening Day for Brunswick Little League in GI. Crazy nostalgia.....

I remember hearing this song while at a party in the late '70s ,the host said listen to this new group Earth Wind and Fire their music had a spiritual message back then ,and has carried them through all these years, not just jamming but very enlightening at the same time.

I listen to all kinds of music, from all kinds of genres and I don't like to say one group or person, etc, is the "GREATEST OF ALL TIME", etc, but this WHY I think EARTH, WIND & FIRE "IS" the "GREATEST OF ALL TIME."
As a 6 yr. old boy, I was stuck in a foster home with 3 of my brothers (I'm the youngest), where we were abused by our foster parents, who were alcoholics. We were just a state check to them. Every day and every night I was drowning and suffocating. One day we got a record player and albums - but not from them! They just stole the money the state allotted for us - then E, W & F came through the speakers! With songs like, SEE THE LIGHT, BE EVER WONDERFUL (when Maurice White - R.I.P. - said, DON'T LET THE WORLD CHANGE YOUR MIND, it really spoke to me), THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD, it all really spoke to me! We didn't get back with our family 'til I was 12! I still remember the day our social worker came to the house and told us we were going back with our family! One of my brothers and I ran into the bathroom and started singing Chic's GOOD TIMES, which was the popular song at that time.
E, W & F SAVED MY LIFE AND SUSTAINED ME the whole 6 yrs. - which felt like eternity, believe me - I was there! There's NO WAY. NO WAY, I would've survived those 6 yrs. without E, W & F! NO WAY.
I was just preparing myself to runaway when my family came and got us! I had tried a couple of times, but since I was so young, it was easy for them to catch up to me and / or find me. My brothers were reluctant to runaway, so I decided I was going to go it alone, come what may.
THIS IS WHY E, W & F IS THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!
THEY SAVED MY LIFE AND I THINK THE LIFE OF A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE, TOO, even if their "STORY" isn't as dramatic as mine.
GOD BLESS EVERYONE HERE AND GOD BLESS E, W & F!

This song perfectly illustrates my love for EWF. I had a friend way back in the day who repeatedly sang the opening line of this song until it drove us crazy but once you settle down and listen to this song, you begin to hear the vision, the depth and magic of this group. A Jazzy, rhythmic odyssey of positive vibration and spiritual energy with very little commercialism. Thanks for posting!
