As a teenager, I had no GOOD male role models in my life. However, I listened to every word of every song that Maurice White and EWF sang. He raised me. Then, he ‘RAISED’ me.

Music industry has changed for the worse...it’s good listening to gems like theses.
well it has always sort of been shit. there just have been exceptions. what I mean by shit is the treatment and downward spiral artists go through. however music and musical style has always changed and while you may think that modern music is bad some may think that old music is shit.

+Anita Merriweather Williams TRUE! Last night, I was pulling up old songs that didn't make radio rotation......they had classics in top of classics that weren't in heavy rotation. I love that group and Maurice had a voice that just fit right in pocket with the groove.

I had the pleasure of growing up watching Earth Wind and Fire form and rehearse in Chicago when I was a kid. They took me in and I learned so much from Maurice and especially Verdeen. They are the reason I became a musician.

So this double album, the group's first CBS album to *just* go *gold* (if I have my EWF history right), is, to me, the official goodbye to its 70s sound. CBS was screaming for disco and EWF's first answer, I AM's "Boogie Wonderland," was a chart-topping smash. So off to the Caribbean for some in-depth doses of the groove before yielding to musical gravity with the (still good!) "Raise!"

being 14/15 years old when this came out...lying in my room with my first BIG love , playing cassette tapes , off course special slow ones made by me for these occassions , dimmed light...almost only the light from the amp & cassette deck....and singing this song to her.....hoping and longing to kiss her off course ( that was the whole set-up as you can guess..hahaa! )....stayed with her for almost 4 years.....aaaaah ; those GREAT memories!!!!!...thnx E,W & F for many magical hours!!!

I always liked this selection more than “After the Love is Gone.” AtLiG is a great song, but I just liked this more. So beautiful with Philip Bailey’s soaring and transcendent vocals for the chorus!

For me this is the perfect EW&F song. Not the biggest hit, but if you had never heard them and asked me what they sounded like, this is the track I'd play for you.
The first time I heard this song I was getting dressed for school and my mind was instantly blown.
My immediate thought was that the simply-titled You was just as good as After The Love Has Gone.
I too believe that Faces is Earth, Wind and Fire's best album although at the time it was said to have only sold about 1/2 million copies when their six previous albums had all sold at least two million each.
Sales alone however don't determine if a work is a masterpiece.
As someone also mentioned Could It Be Right, also with Maurice White singing lead, is also another great EWF song that is hardly heard on radio.
