Suzuki Intruder Forward controls Walkthrough

Incredibly well machined for the price. Would buy again!
1-Remove both header pipes.
2-Remove and lower pedal crossmember.
3-Remove brake pedal assembly.
4-Remove right side foot rest.
5-Install brake pedal adapter.
6-Remove shifter lever.
7-Remove shifter lever linkage. (leave rear ball joint on shift shaft arm)
8-Remove left side foot rest.
9-Reinstall crossmember, do not reinstall the two forward center bolts.
10-Remove forward motor mount bolt.
11-Install the forward footrest center bracket with the two spacers and newer longer motor mount bolt. (Do not fully tighten motor mount bolt)
12-Reinstall header pipes.
13-Install lower cross member to forward footrest center bracket intermediate bracket. (Lower mounting bolts go into holes where bolts not previously reinstalled, do not fully tighten)
14-Adjust/align all brackets and tighten all hardware.
15-Install new footrests and controls.
16-Attach new control linkages.
17-Ride.

I hope your okay after bike fell on you, that is why i invested in a bike jack stand that has straps to strap the bike to the jack stand and help hold the bike in the upright position.

I am vs1400 owner and im planning to buy these from tarazon. One thing bothers me. Are you still able to change your oil filter without forward control off? Because on my eye the bar is pretty damn close to the filter.

How did you lengthen the rod for the shifter to get it up in the better position to fit your foot under?

the kit that i bought has a extended shifter rod that is threaded so when you turn it it extends

How hard is it to put back to original; removing the forward controls. Bought a 1997 Intruder 1400. It had forward controls, but my legs are too short to comfortably ride. Need to put back to factory setup.
