    Hello and welcome. I am so excited to not only educate people but to show everyone what it takes to be a dog groomer!
    For our first video you will be coming along with me, Magdalena, to groom my first 2 dogs of the day. Mostly focusing on Sasha the Boston Terrier and what a basic bath and tidy normally includes (bath, blow dry, nails, ears, brush out).

    I appreciate you explaining about the issues on how some groomers can be rough, however you are not. You also gave indicators if a dog was being hurt. Crying, running away and barking. All the dogs seem like they feel as comfortable as one could be under the grooming conditions. Thank you for truly caring for our fur babies.

    Magdalena, I have done a full comment somewhere down in the comments. But I just can't help checking back to see what a well-behaved sweetheart Sasha is...I just love her!! I also was glad to see your other video where you talk to us without a mask....I just thought you are so cute, so I check back here to enjoy your extremely competent handiwork.

    I once bathed my friend’s Boston and he was exactly the same. Stood still and let you do what was needed. They are such good boys and girls!

    We love when our little girl (Boston) Gabby comes home from the groomer. She just prances around and is so happy she seems to be strutting and showing off.

    I LOVED this production. The dogs were SO sweet and well-behaved....I know from experience that Bostons can be rambunctious, so she was just amazingly placid. You have good equipment setup which really helps. Also, I loved the worker's soothing voice in narration and also the low volume sort of lounge/doo-wop music throughout. As the viewer, I felt so relaxed...I do get a little anxious when the dog is in the tub and there is soapy water and only porcelain....am afraid they may fall down.
    All very interesting. I feel it is a pretty difficult job, so kudos to the worker.

      Thank you! Jeana put a lot of thought into the set up of the shop. She wants her dog's and employees to feel comfortable and safe in this fast pace environment. Usually dogs do ok in the tub, if we have an older dog or one with problems standing we have a bath mat we can use. We don't leave it in the tub bc of the bathing system we use. It can get in the way. Glad you enjoyed the video!

      @@magdalenagrooms8965 Interesting....I spotted that I was referring to Magdalena's work rather than just "the workers". Kudos to you for the setup. I was noticing Magdalena was spending a lot of time bending over or bent and contorted....happens to dentists and barbers a lot also. I learned that one way this can be mitigated is to have a shallow stair or even like the old west "bars" along the bottom of the bar itself. This allows for shifting which knee is higher and rests the low back. It is an idea for your workers. Of course, these positionings as videoed may just be considered part of "an occupational hazard" but your staff may appreciate the ability to alternate propping up a knee.

      @@dsteve54 Also, if you know of any excellent chiropractors in your area, I would suggest that your employees become regular customers...I think once a month is enough. It would be great if the owner could gift that to all of them, but by cost it may not be reasonable enough...I don't know, but I do know that all that contorting is shifting their skeletons all around.

    NOTE** We noticed at 6:29 that I pointed the hose directly into Sasha's face. Even though there were cotton pads in her ears and the hose was on low water pressure, coming from behind the head and running the water from above would have been more ideal for her comfort and safety. I'm happy I did a thorough towel dry.
    Live and you learn.
    Hope you enjoyed - JDDS

    • @magdalenagrooms8965
      @magdalenagrooms8965  Před 3 lety

      Thank you😊! I used a rubber curry brush for the majority of the brushing then I went in with a blade much like the furminator very lightly(it is easy to brush burn a dog with a furminator and is not something I usually recommended). Then I went over her with a greyhound comb to get rid of any loose hairs(you can just use your hands for this)

    That dog looks like a clone of my male Boston. What do you use to clean tear staining?

    • @magdalenagrooms8965
      @magdalenagrooms8965  Před 3 lety

      So funny! As far as tear staining, it's really hard to say. I've heard tear staining to be a health-related issue. It could be the type of water he is drinking or even diet. I know you can buy products that you would need to use daily but I don't personally know how those perform.

    • @magdalenagrooms8965
      @magdalenagrooms8965  Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry for the late reply! It depends on where the "Quick" in their nail is. If your Boston has clear nails you can see the quick, it is usually pink. You never want to cut past that. You can usually look up a diagram on google :)

    how often do you have to wash a Boston Terrier?

    • @magdalenagrooms8965
      @magdalenagrooms8965  Před 3 lety +2

      Depends on the owner and the dog! It can range anywhere from 4 to 8/10 weeks. Depends on if they want their dog smelling fresh all the time. If they want to reduce shedding. If the dog has skin issues. If they swim or get muddy. Totally up to the parent. The main concern with breeds like this is the nails.
