    What is the point in having an electric door to get the lifeboat. At the end of the day if the boat is sinking the chance of you still having electricity is very low.

    • @bobbythoms2078
      @bobbythoms2078 Před 5 lety +1

      AmazePlays it’s not supposed to be a lifeboat, just a tender. If you sink you just have to swim I guess. But these aren’t meant for going super far offshore anyway.

    Leave that third engine off all the time so incase of a issue at sea you can limp into port.

    • @mareewalker1096
      @mareewalker1096 Před 4 lety +1

      Pershing is a much more exclusive vessel and way more exspensive! Azimut are not what they used to be! So yes the pershing is a much greater machine!! Happy sailing 🛥⚓

    I don't know about those IPS drives. I would be worried about hitting something underwater such as ropes etc. Great boat though:-)

    • @GoMiGman
      @GoMiGman Před 9 lety

      Don't have much option either way on these larger boats and a regular prop shaft is almost as bad. If you're worried about hitting anything, you're in too shallow water to begin with, I would think, because either way weather you have prop shafts or these pods, it's almost the same distance that they hang down below the hull.

    • @ianrkav
      @ianrkav Před 9 lety

      GoMiGman I was thinking about semi-submerged objects, like a log or something. Regular shafts do offer some protection via the shaft itself but not much I know. Those Zeus pods look like a better option I think:-)

    • @GoMiGman
      @GoMiGman Před 9 lety +2

      ianrkav I see what you mean. You know, that was the big debate (exactly what you said) between proponents of the Mercury Zeus pods and the Volvo Penta IPS pods when they first came out because the Volvo one where "Front-facing" props while the Zeus ones were like standard stern drive props and they were rear facing, so they had the pod pointed in front of them to offer some protection from hitting certain items here or there similar to a sterns drive prop or an outboard prop blade. But the VP ones has the props facing the front, they are the first thing followed by the pod (which was behind them and offered 0 protection) and when everyone first saw that 10 years ago they said no way that the VP one would fail miserably because of that issue. Interestingly enough, I would think that the VP, today, has a slighter edge over Merc Zeus which is quite fascinating. Apparently forward facing shaft was never a problem.

    Somehow I feel I would rather have two engines of a bit larger size. There is a novelty value here but no real benefit above and beyond the joystick system itself which is awesome on its own and great with the usual two engines.

    • @GoMiGman
      @GoMiGman Před 9 lety +5

      Good point, but the 3rd engine is for a very good reason actually and Azimut did that on this boat and will probably do it on more from here on is because you don't lose any performance value, but you lose on engine size which becomes a HUGE benefit in cabin space. The figure released was a little over 3 feet of additional space in the cabin which as all boaters know, another 3ft is a huge amount of space. Only drawback is there's an additional engine and pod drive to be concerned with.

      Jacosz Nah bro. You can find similar boats for a lot less. Azimut is an upscale manufacturer (pretty much the Rolls Royce of boat manufacturers). That's why it's so expensive.
