Got laid off at the end of February and got mentally in a pretty rough place, even now I feel the stress of not finding anything. But this short I truly appreciate. thank you so much Thor.
I keep trying to remember this, but it’s hard when the job market for my field is saturated and my unemployment benefits are ending with barely an interview in the meantime.
I went thru 2 layoffs, and the first one was my first job out of college. I'm glad they framed it the way they did, which was pretty similar to this. It was like, "the company needs us to reduce this department to save money, and you're the least experienced. We would love to keep you and help you get more skills but we can't, here's your letter of reference and severance pay." It helped a ton and made it easier to apply for jobs without getting discouraged that I wasn't good enough

I love that you give real advice that isn’t sugar coated and doesn’t deny reality. You give practical advice instead of saying “layoffs are no big deal, blah blah blah”
I mean, this isn't really practical advice. It's a spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down. None of what he said actually helps with the immediate reality that you've lost your job, and you need to deal with the impact that'll have on your life.
When most people ask about being laid off, they're not worried about if their life still has value, they're worried about putting food on their family's table.
I can't tell you how many times in the past I needed to hear this
Thanks so much for clips like this. They always come around when I'm struggling with things and this one def helped. I struggle to distance myself from my work and any failures emotionally and then end up getting to me far more than I should allow. This was a really good reminder
I watch this guy for his insights and unique thoughts more than video games tbh, but man is this dude wholesome. You’re like a modern age Bob Ross. Kudos to you for being a positive influence in life man.
I didn't realise how much I needed this.
Great advice like pretty much always
I didn't need this, but my best friend did. She was laid off recently and it really got to her, and this video helped her. So thank you for being you Thor ❤
Needed to hear this in this exact moment. Thank you.
Thanks, Thor :) I was struggling with being laid off and this really helped me. Thanks for all you do!
This is amazing advice. It took me a while to figure this out after losing one of the best jobs I've ever had. I had and sometimes still have job loss ptsd at my current job.
Man every time I catch this guy he seems super nice and wise beyond his time.
A year and a half later, and I heard the advice I didn't know I needed.
I love Thor so much his advice is always so good and genuine
"They can't afford to pay you"
Company proceeds to announce record profits two months after
yeah this one is just some hard copium
"It means they can't afford you"
[thunderous laughter]
"You are not your job" is something I'm still having problems fighting inside me and damn this is important to remember. Simple but we often need to hear simple things. Thank you Thor
I am struggling in my career right now and needed to hear this.
The benevolent goblin King provides great advice to his subjects.
this is so cathartic, omg 🥺
I have tears in my eyes
Thank you Thor. It was so hard to find motivation when I got laid off. This kind of wisdom and support goes so far. Thank you.
Losing your job when it's out of your control is soul crushing
Hey man, I just want to say that there are a lot of channels out there that make shorts about life advice. Please don't stop being the best one.
You should write a book or have your own podcast. I love listening to your life advice. You are genuinely concerned about people and try to support them for a better outcome with your words. Thank you
I had no idea just how badly I needed to hear exactly those words today.
This is 100% true, and the best clip I've seen of yours
I’m really glad Thor found us. He is a bright light in an too often dark world.
Thor, such a good thinker. lots of subject variety and always something worthwhile to say, without merely being prosaic.
Brilliant summary, wish I had heard this years ago, so much self doubt that just reduced my self worth and slowed my getting better work, which I eventually did.
Well said.
Love the positive impact you're making out here
Got laid off at the end of February and got mentally in a pretty rough place, even now I feel the stress of not finding anything.
But this short I truly appreciate. thank you so much Thor.
rough time man.. stay strong people and plan for the worst, hope for the best!
I started tearing up for no reason. Good luck on those still job hunting, and keep moving forward
We would love to keep you and help you get more skills but we can't, here's your letter of reference and severance pay."
It helped a ton and made it easier to apply for jobs without getting discouraged that I wasn't good enough
This man is to precious for this world
You have much to offer the world.
Keep making videos.
We do not deserve this man.
But we definitely needed him.
I love how these questions are asked and he immediately just is like "Yes. {Advice}" rather than even needing to delay with any "it depends.." or anything else
